Here’s a list of opportunities to get out and about this weekend!

Friday October 28th

The Shippensburg Swing Band’s 7th annual Halloween Dinner Dance will be held Friday, October 28, 2016.  The Dinner Dance will be at Premier Events, E. Orange St. from 7 PM – 10 PM. $30 Dinner & Dance; $10 Dance Only.  Dance only tickets (8 PM – 10 PM) can be purchased at door. There will be a costume contest with prizes.

Greencastle Halloween Parade will be held Friday October 28, 2016 at 7 PM.  The parade begins and ends at the Jerome King Playground.

img_5297The Dickinson College Astronomy Club will host a Harry Potter and the Halloween Star Party Friday, Oct. 28, from 7 to 10 PM, in the Tome Hall of the Rector Science Complex on West Louther and North College streets.  The events are FREE and open to the public. Visitors are encouraged to wear Halloween costumes.  There will be Pumpkin Painting, an Astronomy Talk, and Planetarium shows.

Haunted History at the Shippensburg History Center will feature dark and scary stories of Shippensburg.  Stories of historic murder, mystery, and mayhem will be presented during a special tour at the Stewart House.  Entry tickets are $3/Members or $5/General Admission.  October 28 at 7 PM and 8:30 PM. Cider and donuts will follow each tour.

Saturday October 29th

There will be a Holiday Bazaar in the Family Life Center at the Shippensburg Church of the Brethren, 253 East Garfield Street on Saturday October 29 from 8 AM – 2 PM.  Baked Goods, Lunch, Fall & Holiday Crafts, Vendors, Homemade Jams & Jellies, Vegetables, and Pickles.

Royer’s Flowers & Gifts Kids Club is having a free Halloween themed event on Saturday, October 29th in all stores.  Children ages 5 to 12 are invited to make a special “Boo” bouquet.  Children are encouraged to wear their Halloween costumes.  Participants are asked to donate a new children’s book as the price of admission in support of their annual book drive.  Time slots are available at 10 AM and 2 PM.  Registration is required by calling your nearest Royer’s store.

Bjs Wholesale Club invites you to trick or treat Saturday October 29th. Costume contest ages 0-14 from Noon until 3 PM. Every department will hand out candy and judge costumes.

Texas Roadhouse has a special offer for Halloween.  Bring your children dressed up for Halloween and receive a free appetizer coupon for your next visit.  Valid at Chambersburg location from 10/27 – 10/31 only.

Trick or Treat with downtown Chambersburg Merchants – Saturday, October 29th from 11 AM – 1 PM.  (Costume Contest at Courthouse Plaza at 1 PM.  Scariest, Most Original, Judges Favorite, and Group.  Two age categories – 6 & under, 7-13.  Group is open for all ages.)

imageSouthampton Township, Franklin County, Shippensburg Borough and Shippensburg Community Parks & Recreation Authority are teaming up to host a Fall Fest on Saturday, October 29th from  6 PM – 8 PM at Memorial Park.  This is a free community event & social gathering which includes candy for trick or trunk and family fun activities.  Food available for purchase.

The 13th Annual Halloween Event at Red Run Park will be on Saturday, October 29.  The evening will feature a Costume Parade, Train Ride, Fire Truck Ride, and more from 4 – 6:30 PM.  All activities are free of charge!  Red Run Park is located at 12143 Buchanan Trail East, Waynesboro.

Drop by a Target store near you on October 29th from 10 AM – 1 PM for free goodie bags and other giveaways. Kids encouraged to wear costumes.

The Monkees-Good Times: The 50th Anniversary Tour performance will be at the H. Ric Luhrs Performing Arts Center at Shippensburg University on October 29 at 8 PM.  Tickets: $69, $65, $59 & $49

Sunday October 30th

Penn State Mont Alto’s annual Little Pumpkins is a FREE event from 4 to 6 PM on Sunday, Oct. 30, in the lobby of Mont Alto Hall.  Children will receive goodie bags and can take part in a variety of activities such as pumpkin craft, cookie decorating, face painting and coloring. Costumes are optional but encouraged.

All Hallow’s Day Party is a Halloween Party held in Hollar Hall at Christ United Methodist Church on 47 E. King Street in Shippensburg.  All ages are invited from 5 PM – 8 PM. There will be prizes, games and food. Costumes are optional.

Sunday October 30th, go on a Halloween Plushy Scavenger Hunt from 2 PM to 6 PM at the Carlisle Sports Emporium. Once you have found all 6 plush characters hidden around the facility, you can redeem your form at the front desk for a small bag of candy and $5 reloadable arcade play card.

Monday October 31st

The Halloween Alternative, Light In The Night 2016 hosted by Mongul United Brethren will be October 31 from 6 PM – 8 PM.  This free fun-filled family event is held at Shippensburg Township Park on Britton Road and includes music, inflatables, hay maze, food, crafts and candy.  Costumes optional.

The Newville Halloween Parade will be on Monday, October 31 at 7 PM.

SHIPPENSBURG:  Trick or Treat – Monday, October 31 from 6 PM to 8 PM.

CHAMBERSBURG:   Trick or Treat – Monday, October 31 from 6 PM to 8 PM.

CARLISLE:   Trick or Treat – Monday, October 31 from 6 PM to 8 PM.

 

Weekend Ongoing Activities

Lake Tobias Wildlife Park is having BOO! at the Zoo.  Children 12 years and younger wearing a Halloween costume receive FREE Park Admission (does not include Safari Tour) and can stop at Trick or Treat Candy Stations. Free Pumpkin Decorating Activity for kids while supplies last.  Saturday, October 29 & Sunday, October 30, 10:00 AM – 4:00 PM.

Visit Hersheypark in the Dark on October 28-30. Giant is selling discounted tickets!

Hershey Gardens lights up the night on October 28 & 29 with more than 150 carved illuminated pumpkins.  Unique collection of live spiders and insects on display. Enjoy a variety of whimsical characters, watch live pumpkin-carving demonstrations and have story time with a scarecrow. Kids ages 12 and younger are invited to bring a flashlight, come in costume and trick-or-treat throughout the Gardens. Pumpkin Glow ticket purchase is required online or at the door.

Happy Hauntings, Dutch Wonderland Family Amusement Park, 2249 Lincoln Highway East, Lancaster, PA will feature themed rides, special entertainment, and the Trick-or-Treat Trail – a safe, interactive trick-or-treating experience. Saturdays and Sundays October 15-30, 2016  Times: Saturdays 2-9 PM & Sundays 2-8 PM

Beam’s Blue Mountain Farm will have their annual Fall Fest every Saturday in October from 10 AM – 4 PM.  There will be free hayrides through Scarecrow Hollow to the Pumpkin Fields to the pick your own pumpkin patch, free refreshments, a petting zoo, and a play area for children.

The Annual Fall Festival at Reynolds Farm includes hayrides and pick your own pumpkins.  Over 27 activities are included with your admission, including viewing zoo, playgrounds, mega slides, wagon rides, mazes, games, and more.  Last day of the season is on Monday, October 31st.

Stoner’s Dairy Farm and Corn Maze in Mercersburg offers plenty of weekend Fall activities for any age.  This year their corn maze is jungle themed.  Fall Corn Maze Weekends continue through Sunday, October 30th. Hours are Saturday Noon – 10 PM & Sunday Noon – 5 PM, and Select Fridays 7 – 10 PM.  Haunted corn maze hours begins this Friday, October 21, next Friday October 28 and Saturday, October 29. Hours for all 3 nights are 7-10 PM.

Country Creek Produce Farm is located at 3746 Etter Road and is home to Franklin County’s largest corn maze.  The “Hometown Heroes” Corn Maze has over 2 miles of paths and takes about 50 minutes to complete.  The farm’s attractions include the 14 acre corn maze, pick-ur-own pumpkin patch, hayrides, animals, pumpkin cannon, and more.

At Bass Pro Shoppes, now through October 31, there will be free photos, activities, giveaways and prizes for young visitors.  Charlie Brown, Linus, and Snoopy will be in the pumpkin patch.  FREE photo and FREE crafts, plus costume parades and trick-or-treating!
