Here’s a list of opportunities to get out and about this weekend in South Central PA!


Friday, April 14th at 10 AM, Elmcroft on Walnut Bottom Road will be hosting an Easter Egg Hunt (ages 0-10) with a special appearance from the Easter Bunny.  Snacks and juice will be served.  Bring your Easter basket to collect eggs.

Mongul United Brethren will hold its 8th annual Easter Eggs-travaganza on Saturday, April 15th from 10AM-Noon (with registration opening at 9:15) at Shippensburg Township Park on Britton Road.  This FREE event includes food, activities and crafts for the kids – plus giveaways! There will be over 10,000 eggs for the hunt.   Start times for the egg hunt are staggered by age group:   10:00 – 3 and under;  10:10 – 4-5 years;  10:20 – 6-7 years;  10:30 – 8-11 years;  10:40 – Special Needs (16 & under);  11:00 – Giveaways

The Local Gathering Church of the Nazarene (611 Shippensburg Rd) will hold an Easter Egg Hunt with Silly Saturdays Weird Animals on April 15 from 10AM – Noon.  This is a FREE event with music, craft, egg hunt, and full lunch.  The age groups will be 0-3; 4-5; 6-7; and 8-10 years old.

An Egg Hunt will be held at Orrstown UB Church on April 15 from 10AM – Noon.  Crafts, games and the Resurrection story and egg hunt.  Ages are birth -12 yrs old (there will be an area for toddlers and special needs children).

The annual Easter Egg Hunt sponsored by the Newburg-Hopewell Special Fire Police will be held on April 15 at 1:30PM.  Ages 0 – 12.  Egg hunt is held rain or shine at Newburg First Church of God.

All day Easter Sunday, April 16, Moms eat free with the purchase of a meal of equal or greater value at Arooga’s.  One offer per check.  A beverage must be purchased to quality for discount.  Offer not applicable toward daily specials, or other promotional offers or discounts.  Dine-in Only.


The Green Spring First Church of God will host its Annual Easter Egg Hunt on Saturday, April 15 beginning at 1PM.  Approximately 4,000 filled eggs will cover the church grounds.  Children will be split into age groups: 3 and under, 4-6, 7-8, and 9-10, and area for special needs guests.  Refreshments will be served following the egg hunt. Rain or shine.

Cumberland Drive-In Theatre is open Thursday, Friday, and Saturday this week!  Showing April 13 – April 15 will be “The Fate of the Furious” and “Split.”  Both films are rated PG-13.  Gates open at 7PM.  First feature begins at approximately 8PM.


All ages are welcome to enjoy a Spring Fun Fly with expert kite flying help from Kite Masters—Sam Adams and George Adams—in the meadow behind the museum house at Renfrew Park on April 15.  The event is open to all ages and there is no fee for flying. Participants should bring their own kites.  A Build a Kite workshop is scheduled.  There is a $1 donation to cover materials.


Solomon’s Crusaders for Christ will sponsor their annual Easter Egg Hunt in the Picnic Woods on Saturday, April 15th at 11AM.  All are welcome!

The Great Surprise: Jesus is Alive Event and Easter Egg Hunt will be held Saturday, April 15, at Pleasant View Mennonite Church, 346 Warm Spring Road, Chambersburg. Eggsplosion 2017 is coming to Antrim Township Park, Saturday April 15.  The Paw Patrol will be there – Skye and Marshall.  Mickey & Minnie Mouse too.  Candy for each child and prizes for eggs with a token.  Eggsplosion for ages 0-4, 5-8, and 9 – teen.  Food stands, pictures with your favorite character. Face painting, games for all ages.

Greencastle’s 4th Annual Beer and Wine Festival is back April 15.  Brews, wine, unlimited sampling, fun activities, food and live music throughout the event. Games of Chance, pretzel necklaces and photo booths and massage chairs on site.  Buying tickets online gets you V.I.P. access–get in at 12 noon instead of regular time of 1 PM.

St. Thomas

Come enjoy the St .Thomas Assembly Of God Easter Egg Hunt held at the St. Thomas baseball field on April 15, 10AM – 11:30AM.  This is a FREE event!  They will be dropping eggs from a helicopter onto the egg site and afterwards, your children can have fun snatching up as many eggs as they can.  Hotdogs, popcorn, bounce houses, and carnival games too.  Preregister HERE and skip the line.  Bring your confirmation page to the check in table.


Learn about butterflies at Taylor’s Greenhouse in Biglerville on Saturday April 15th.  Folk’s Butterfly Farm will feature their walk-in Flight House full of butterflies for kids of all ages to enjoy from 10AM – 4PM.  The cost is $2/person.  The Easter Bunny will also be floating around too so bring your camera.


The AACA Museum is having an Easter Special!  The museum is offering FREE admission for children (up to age 12) with a paid regular admission on April 15. Children must be accompanied by at least one adult. Tickets must be purchased at the door. Guests will hunt to find a variety of “egg spots” within the main and lower levels of the Museum. Treats will be given to each child 12 and under at these treat locations.  Hot dogs, popcorn, and bunny juice (pink lemonade!) will be served while supplies last.

Hersheypark Springtime in the Park features rides, entertainment, games, food and more on April 14-16. Hours are 10AM – 9PM April 14 and 15, and 10AM – 6PM April 16.  Hersheypark will celebrate the opening of its new choose-your-thrill ride, the Hershey Triple Tower.

New Freedom

Steam Into History is offering an Easter train ride, the Eggspecially Fun Bunny Run with banjo and guitar player, Jeff Greenawalt on April 14 & 15. Visit and take photos with the Easter Bunny while riding on the train. Your 45 minute ride will take you along the beautiful rail trail with song and stories. Once you are back at the station in New Freedom, children will be invited to participate in an egg hunt. Ride Time(s): 11:30am, 1:00pm, 2:30pm


Visit the Strasburg Railroad for the Easter Bunny Train April 14 – April 16.  Welcome Spring with a ride through beautiful farmland and the Easter Bunny as your Conductor.  Weather permitting, the Strasburg Rail Road Fun Extras are included with each ticket.

Westminster, MD

The 10th Annual Peep Show is going on now through Wednesday, April 19 at Carroll Arts Center, 91 W. Main St., Westminster, MD.  The event features over 175 sculptures, dioramas, graphic arts, oversized characters and mosaics created and inspired by Peeps!  Open 10AM – 7PM (including Easter Sunday).  Admission is FREE but visitors may buy voting chips to vote for your favorite display. Enjoy PEEP treats and souvenirs including official Peeps & Co merchandise in the gift shop!
