August 12:  Family Fun Day

Join the Shippensburg Chamber of Commerce for a FREE Family Event at the Shippensburg Fairgrounds on Saturday, August 12, 2017.  The Family Fun Day will be held from 11AM – 2PM and is a fun way for families to gain valuable information on programs available in our area.  FREE Pizza, FREE Entertainment, Giveaways, and Fun for all ages!  This is a rain or shine event.

August 12:  Blessing of the Backpacks

The 9th Annual Blessing of the Backpacks will be held on Saturday, August 12 from 4PM – 7PM in Shippensburg.  Many Shippensburg churches, local organizations and non-profits will come together at Memorial Lutheran Church to provide school supplies for area students.  All events and activities are FREE including Dinner.   Carnival Games to win School Supplies (every child will win); at 7PM Blessing of the Backpacks and Door Prizes.

August 26:  Shippensburg Corn Festival

The 37th Annual Shippensburg Corn Festival will be held Saturday, August 26, 2017 from 8AM – 4PM.  Downtown streets are closed to traffic and transformed into a huge street fair for the day. More than 250 craft and food vendors, an antique car show, free family entertainment and a corn eating contest.  This is a rain or shine event.

September 2:  Demolition Derby

The Demolition Derby in Shippensburg will be held Saturday, September 2 at 7:30 PM. Admission is $10 (adult), Ages 7-12: $5, Children 6 & under admitted free! Bring lawn chairs or blankets. Food is available for purchase.

September 6:  Budweiser Clydesdales

On September 6, locals will have the rare opportunity to meet and take photos with the Budweiser Clydesdales as they make several stops in Shippensburg.  The world-famous horses will be in Shippensburg from 3PM – 6PM, weather permitting.  The 8-horse hitch team with a Dalmatian seated atop a turn of the century beer wagon will be making several appearances in Central PA the week of September 5 – 10, 2017.  For the Shippensburg Parade route go HERE.

September 9:  Stream Awareness Day

On Sept. 9 the Middle Spring Watershed Association will hold their annual Stream Awareness Day.  There will be aquarium exhibits featuring species from the stream, art activities, a “pinball” game, nature art, and other activities. Most activities are free.  This event beginning at 10AM will take place at the area behind Shippensburg Borough Offices at 111 N. Fayette Street and Burd Street, also near Branch Creek Place.  Food will be available for purchase.  A Rubber Duck Derby (tickets $4) will begin around Noon.

September 9:  Farm to Table Dinner

D.O.I.T. (Downtown Organizations Investing Together) is hosting its first “Farm to Table” Dinner on Sept. 9th!  The festivities will be located on McCreary Avenue.  Food will be served at 5PM.  The menu will consist of: Steamship round, pulled pork, tossed salad, spinach walnut salad, pasta salad, baked potato, baked sweet potato, beet & onion salad, pepper slaw, fresh corn, summer squash medley, carrots w/peach glaze, desserts, etc. All locally grown and raised!  For online tickets visit: HERE  You may also purchase tickets at local businesses.

September 15 & 16:  Uprise Festival

Uprise Festival ’17, a Christian music festival will be held September 15 and September 16 at the Shippensburg Fairgrounds.  Inflatables, children’s tent, petting zoo, skate park, meet & greets, graffiti wall, food vendors, giveaways and more!  For full line up and ticket info visit uprisefest.com.

September 23: Volvo Construction Equipment’s Community Open House

To celebrate 10 years, Volvo Construction Equipment is hosting a Community Open House on Saturday, September 23, 2017.  From 10AM – 2PM, the public is invited to enjoy self-guided plant tours, machine shows, games, inflatables, WITF’s “Ready, Set, Explore”  kids activities, snacks & refreshments, and more!  The Brand Shop will be open.  Machines will be on display.  Meet Sid the Science Kid too.  This is a FREE event at 312 Volvo Way in Shippensburg.

September 23:  Beer and Wine Festival

Shippensburg Area Chamber of Commerce, D.O.I.T. and SADCO (Shippensburg Area Development Corporation) have joined forces to bring a Beer and Wine Festival to Shippensburg.  On September 23, enjoy beer & wine tastings, live music, games of chance, yard games & food!  Attendees MUST be 21 years or older and ID is required.  The event will be held at the Shippensburg Fair grounds from 1PM-4PM.  For tickets, go here.

Southampton Township Cumberland County Open Air Market features local homegrown produce and handmade artists.  Mondays 3PM – 7PM.
