Here’s a list of opportunities to get out and about this weekend beyond Shippensburg!

The Armed Forces Day Celebration at Letterkenny Army Depot set for Saturday, May 16, 2015 is CANCELLED.  This includes the Kids’ Fish Rodeo and Cemetery Tours.

Army Heritage Days, is a two-day living history event full of demonstrations and activities.  The event is on Saturday & Sunday, May 16th & 17th, 2015 from 9:00 am – 5:00 pm each day at the U.S. Army Heritage and Education Center, 950 Soldiers Drive, Carlisle. Hundreds of living history interpreters occupy the Army Heritage Trail and recreate historical military moments throughout history. It includes Soldiers from as far back as the French and Indian War continuing through Current Operations. The building is also open throughout the day hosting lectures and panels, in addition to highlighting the current exhibits.  The 506/507th Parachute Infantry Regiment, the All Veteran Group Parachute Team will jump on Saturday, May 16 at 10:00am.  Find the complete schedule Here.

Carlisle Import and Kit Nationals is May 15-17 at Carlisle Fairgrounds. This festival showcases over 1,200 classic and high-performance vehicles. Take a tour through the grounds to enjoy imports and kit cars from at least seven different countries, representing thirty-seven unique manufacturers.

Cumberland Drive-In Theatre, 3290 Ritner Highway, Newville  Friday & Saturday & Sunday, May 15, 16 & 17  First Feature: Avengers: Age of Ultron (PG-13) Second Feature: Fast & Furious 7 (PG-13)  Gates open at 7 p.m. First Feature begins at approximately 8:35 p.m.

Master Gardener Greenhouse Plant Sale will be held May 16th at 181 Franklin Farm Ln, Chambersburg from 9 am – 1 pm.  Large selection of reasonably priced vegetables, annuals, herbs, vines and hanging flower pots. Featured: 10 hot pepper and 25 tomato varieties.

Michael’s Kids Club is every Saturday from 10 am – Noon for ages 3 and up. For $2 your child can make a seasonal craft for 30 minutes while you shop!  On Saturday, May 16th the children will be making a Knotted Friendship Bracelet.

Gettysburg Bluegrass Festival will be held May 14 – May 17th at Granite Hill Camping Resort. Two dozen artists are performing Bluegrass Music, offering workshops and entertaining. Bring the entire family for a host of onsite facilities to entertain everyone, young and old.  For ticket prices go HERE.

Williams Grove Historical Steam Engine Association is having a Spring Show at the Stream Engine Grounds, 1 Steam Engine Hill, Mechanicsburg.  Tractor Pull May 15 at 6:30 pm, Consignment Sale May 16 at 8 am, Car Show May 17 from 10 am to 2:30 pm.

Go Outdoors Event at Bass Pro Shops, 3501 Paxton Street, Harrisburg. Go Outdoors Kids’ Weekend May 16, 2015 – May 17, 2015 The Catch & Release pond will be underway 11am-4pm, Craft & photos will be available 11am-5pm and a Scavenger Hunt from 4pm-5pm! Free giveaways & prizes during the event! Saturday: Aunt Flossie’s Funnel Cake from 11am-2pm & Fried Catfish 2pm-5pm in the Gift department. Sunday: Dutch Oven demo 1pm-4pm in the Camping department.  Catfish event scheduled for this weekend May 16 & 17! Seminars will be presented at 11am & 3pm Saturday and 2pm & 4pm on Sunday.
