Here’s a list of opportunities to get out and about this weekend in & beyond Shippensburg! This is not meant to be a complete list.  However, if you have an event you would like to see added please message us on Facebook.

Shippensburg

An Open Air Market hosted by the Shippensburg Public Library will be held 8:00 AM to 1:00 PM Saturday, August 15th at Shippensburg Township Park, 304 Britton Road.  Various vendors, groups, and crafters.  Concession food will be sold at the pavilion.  FREE Admission.

Reins of Rhythm, 4035 McClays Mill Rd in Shippensburg will be holding their last Pony Day Camp for age 4-16 on Friday, August 14th. Pre registration is required. Go to Pony Day Camp for more information.

Beyond Shippensburg

The Pennsylvania Renaissance Faire at Mount Hope Estate returns this Saturday, Aug. 15 & Sunday Aug. 16 with the theme Chivalry & Romance. The Faire features costumed characters, themed entertainment, music, dancing, 90 shows daily, 22 royal kitchens, artisan merchants, and handcrafted wares. Mount Hope Estate is located in Northern Lancaster County at 2775 Lebanon Road, Manheim, PA. The event is rain or shine.  Gates open 11 am and close at 8 pm. To save on admission read this post.

Celebrate summer harvest season at Paulus Farm Market, 1216 South York Street, Mechanicsburg on August 16th from 11:00 AM to 4:00 PM.  Admission: $5 age 5-adult, $2 age 2-4, under 2 FREE admission. Farm games for kids of all ages, hay rides around the farm, children’s play area, farm animals, Corn on the Cob eating contest, and watch a pumpkin chunkin’ cannon launch some spent summer produce.  Pizza garden tour/make your own mini pizza! (12:30 and 1:30). Free produce samples and recipe ideas.   Admission includes all of the above; Food is available for purchase!

The 2015 Cumberland Ag Expo is going on now through August 15 at the Newville Lions Fairgrounds. Food Stands open 5 pm nightly and 9 am Saturday.  There are dairy and animal exhibitions, shows, 4H presentations, children’s activities, tractor pulls, food, music and more. Ashcombe Farm & Greenhouses, 906 West Grantham Rd, Mechanicsburg will be having its annual Corn Fest on August 15th from 10 am – 3 pm. Food, Games & Entertainment. Contests, Bounce House, Petting Zoo, Live Entertainment, Dunk Tank, Alpacas and Alpaca Products For Sale, Children’s Games & Face Painting.

Hagerstown Regional Airport and the Hagerstown Aviation Museum presents a behind-the-scenes look at Hagerstown-built aircraft during Open Airplane Afternoon on Sunday, August 16th, 1 pm – 4 pm.  Bring the family out to the Hagerstown Regional Airport and climb aboard the Fairchild Flying Boxcar and PT-26 Trainer. See exhibits and other museum aircraft all built in Hagerstown. Admission is free but donations are accepted. Plank’s BBQ will offer food and Kona Ice will offer cool refreshments! Event location: Hagerstown Regional Airport Terminal 18434 Showalter Rd, Hagerstown, MD 21742. Follow signs. Park in the terminal parking lot.

7th Annual Pop a Cork for the Capitol will be held Saturday, Aug. 15th from noon – 7 pm. The event will be rain or shine at The Capitol Theatre in Chambersburg. Outdoor Music featuring Kerensa Gray (12:15-2:00pm), Distinctive Soul (2:30-4:15pm), The Hello Strangers (4:45-6:45pm), 8 Wineries. Lots of food, treats, unique vendors and raffle items! $15 admission (includes glass while supplies last), $7 designated driver and under 21 Welcome to bring chair – No outside coolers, food & beverages permitted. Dick’s Sporting Goods in Chambersburg is having their Grand Opening on August 14th.   Dick’s three-day grand opening celebration will run through August 16th. The store will open at 8:00 a.m. Friday and Saturday and 9:00 a.m. SundayThe new location in the Franklin Center, 1320 Lincoln Way East will feature Nike and Under Armour shops, athletic and outdoor apparel and footwear and the latest gear for team sports, fitness, camping, hunting and fishing. The fifth annual Peach Festival will be held on Saturday, August 15, from 8 a.m. until 2 p.m. at the Community Grounds, U.S. 30 and Hawbaker Drive, in Fort Loudon.  All things peaches. Food, music, crafts, home based business vendors, children’s activities, art exhibit and more. Entertainment will be provided by the Shippensburg Swing Band, Wacky Wizard Magic Show and Gospel Music by local musician, John Brink. Parking is free, admission is free.

Kids Closet Connection Consignment Sale will be held this weekend at Norlo Park Barn, 3050 Lincoln Way East, Fayetteville. Grease is the final production this season at the Totem Pole Playhouse.  Performance is going on now through August 16th.

71st semi-annual Bluegrass Festival in Gettysburg will be held August 13th – 16th. Four Days of Music on Two Stages • Informative Workshops • All-Star Jam • Bluegrass Academy For Kids • Food, Merchandise, Arts & Crafts Vendors • Camping, Ice, Propane, Firewood On-site • Lodging Nearby.  Read more at Gettysburg Bluegrass Festival.

Kid to Kid in Chambersburg will be having a grand opening at their new location, 428 Gateway Avenue on August 13th at 4 pm.

On Going Activities

A Miniature Train rides the rails at Norlo Park, 3050 Lincoln Way East, Fayetteville on Saturdays. It is open to riders of all ages. The train, complete with a cattle car and caboose, is FREE to ride on Saturdays weather permitting from 1 PM to 4 PM throughout Summer & Fall!

Cumberland Drive-In Theatre, 3290 Ritner Highway, Newville Aug. 14th – Aug. 16th. First Feature Fantastic Four (PG-13) Second Feature Pixels (PG-13) Gates open at 7 p.m. First Feature begins at approximately 8:35 p.m.

Michael’s Kids Club is every Saturday from 10 am – Noon for ages 3 and up. For $2 your child can make a seasonal craft for 30 minutes while you shop!  On Saturday, August 15th the children will be making Perler Backpack Dangler. Sign up at Classes & Events | Michaels Stores.
