Pine Grove Furnace State Park | Fall Furnace Fest 2015

Pine Grove Furnace State Park’s Fall Furnace Fest 2015 will be held on Saturday, October 17th 11am – 7pm and Sunday, October 18th 12pm – 5pm.  Rain or Shine.  Pine Grove Furnace State Park is located at 1100 Pine Grove Road, Gardners, PA. The event is held in the Furnace Stack and Fuller Lake Day Use Areas.  There is no charge to enter the Park or the Festival.

Most activities are FREE.  There will be Pumpkin carving/painting, hands on nature crafts, hay rides, craft vendors, food vendors, live music, and nature displays.  Demonstrations include charcoal making, apple cider making, blacksmithing, and broom making.  Also available to try is scarecrow making and candle dipping. Smokey Bear is scheduled to make several appearances each day. A silent auction benefits the Friends of Pine Grove Furnace State Park.

The Legend of the Hairy Hand is a Fall Furnace Fest tradition. Saturday evening, October 17th at 7 p.m. at Fuller Lake, the legend will be told and the raft of glowing pumpkins will be set afloat on the lake to keep the hairy hand away. Participants can come early to carve a pumpkin and dip a candle to add to the raft.
