Here’s a list of opportunities to get out and about this weekend!

Community Events

A 43-foot inflatable humpback whale named Nile will make a splash in Shippensburg!  On Saturday, November 14th, the Whalemobile will be at Henderson Gym on the campus of Shippensburg University from 2 – 5 pm.  Children can go inside of Nile, the inflatable whale in this hands on educational experience geared towards elementary and intermediate students.  This is a FREE event.

Chambersburg Community Theatre will present the musical The Wizard of Oz, at the Capitol Theatre, 159 S. Main St. November 13 – 15.  Based on the 1939 MGM classic musical of L. Frank Baum’s story. For showtimes & ticket prices go here.

Enjoy the Shippensburg Band and Carlisle Band in concert on November 15 3PM at Shippensburg University’s Luhrs Center.

The Mason-Dixon Chorus will present a Community Concert at St. Paul UM Church on Saturday, November 14th at 2 pm.  Enjoy the sounds of barbershop a cappella harmony.

The Local Gathering, 611 Shippensburg Rd. is having a Friday Open Mic Night. Evan Crider (acoustic rock) will host a evening with music and coffee. Doors open at 6pm. Open Mic 7-10pm.

Craft Shows, Holiday Bazaars, and Open Houses

Shippensburg

Maplewood Produce and Greenhouse, 8564 Olde Scotland Road, Shippensburg is hosting a Rummage Sale on Sat, November 14th from 8 am – 4 pm.

Beistle’s Annual Craft Fair will be held Saturday, November 14, 2015 from 8 am to 2 pm. in Beistle’s Ballroom Area located at 1 Beistle Plaza, Shippensburg. Over 65 Vendors. Food, Baked Goods, Floral Arrangements, Seasonal Decor, Lawn Ornaments, Candles, Quilts, German Paper Cutting, Wood Crafts, & more.

Chambersburg

Snavely’s, 2106 Lincoln Way E, Chambersburg is hosting Night of Lights Friday, November 13 6 – 8 pm.  The Christmas Shop will be open with dozens of lighted themed trees, wreaths, garland, & decor!  Light refreshments.  Hosted by Santa & Mrs. Claus.

Vintage Market at the Old Red Barn, 1293 Warm Spring Rd, Chambersburg will be having a Holiday Open House on November 13 – 15.  Furniture, holiday items, designer decor & more. Stop by for some refreshments, enter to win daily door prizes.  Friday and Saturday 10 am -5 pm, and Sunday noon to 5 pm. 

The 4th annual I Heart Handmade Market will be held Saturday, November 14th, 2015 from 8 am – 2 pm, at the Quality Inn & Suites, 1095 Wayne Ave., Chambersburg.  No admission fee.  Door Prizes. Unique handmade items.

8th Annual Holiday Bazaar (formerly Nine in Number) at Rocky Springs Golf Club, 1580 Bloom Ave., Chambersburg.  Friday, November 13, 11 am – 8 pm; Saturday, November 14 9 am – 5 pm, Sunday, November 15 noon – 4 pm.  Follow the sheep!

Holiday Open House will be held at Black Rose Antiques & Collectibles this weekend, November 13 – 15.  Door Prizes, refreshments.  Located in the Chambersburg Mall within the former Sears building, the store sells everything from antiques, to crafts, to old toys, books and furniture.

Fayetteville

Calvary United Methodist Church, 150 Norlo Ave, Fayetteville is having a Holiday Bazaar November 13 & 14 9 am – 2 pm. Christmas Decorations, Gift Baskets, Knitted & Crocheted Items, Baked Goods, & More!

Walnut Bottom

Trinity UM Church’s 17th Annual Country Christmas Craft Show will be held Saturday, November 14, 2015 from 8 am – 2 pm. There will be 50 arts and craft vendors and plenty of food. Location: Trinity UM Church, 110 West Main Street (Route 174), Walnut Bottom.

Waynesboro

Quincy Village 1000 Wesley Drive, Waynesboro is hosting their annual Holiday Bazaar on Saturday, November 14th from 9 am – 2 pm in the Hess Room. There will be woodworking, stained glass, crafts, food, jewelry and more.

Fort Loudon

A Christmas Open House event will be held November 14th & 15th at Fittry’s Antique Barn & Flea Market. Unique one of a kind gifts, furniture,  and decor to help get your home holiday ready. Snacks, door prizes, and gift certificates will be awarded. Fittry’s is located at 11436 Lincoln Way West, Fort Loudon. Open House Hours:  10-5 Saturday and Sunday.

Christmas Events & Attractions

This weekend, November 13 – 15, Hersheypark Candylane opens and will be double the size with 4 million lights! They will be having an additional 9 new rides – including 4 coasters – Cocoa Cruiser, Wildcat, Laff Trakk and sooperdooperLooper. There are more than 20 kiddie rides are available.  Christmas Candylane tickets are regularly $18.00.

Santa’s Wonderland Event Kicks off with Santa’s Arrival at Bass Pro Shops, 3501 Paxton Street, Harrisburg on November 14th at 5pm! Santa and the kids, through a little magic, will light his wonderland at 6 pm. Cookies and hot chocolate will be served. There will be free crafts (decorate stockings), $25 Bass Pro Shop gift card giveaways every half hour, games, and activities. Includes activities such as RC Trucks, Laser Arcade, Trains, and Carousel. Kids get a FREE 4×6 photo with Santa from 6 pm – 8 pm.  Best part, it’s all FREE!

Michaels has a Kids Club every Saturday from 10 am – Noon for ages 3 and up. For $2 your child can make a seasonal craft for 30 minutes while you shop! Sign up at Classes & Events at Michaels Stores. November 14: Felt Christmas Mouse

The Trains of Christmas at Hagerstown Roundhouse Museum continues this weekend.  Fridays, Saturdays, & Sundays 1 – 5 pm. The Trains of Christmas Show features an “O” Scale 3-Rail Christmas layout with steam and diesel trains by Lionel, MTH, Williams, Weaver, and other operating in snow scene on four levels. Railroad artifacts, photos, trains for kids to run, and a gift shop too! Admission: $5 Adults; $.50 Kids (ages 12 & under).

Whitaker Center’s Holiday Trains & Trees exhibit is open.  Beautifully decorated trees, surrounded by themed toy train sets and hands-on activities.  Holiday Trains and Trees is included with standard Science Center admission. The Holiday Film Series at the Whitaker Center also begins this weekend with Scrooged . Whitaker Center for Science and the Arts is located at 222 Market Street, Harrisburg.
