Shippensburg

Tiny World opens Fridy, November 27th at 5 pm.  Tiny World, 6720 Rice Rd consists of miniature houses that are each decorated inside.  Admission is free, but donations are accepted.

Turkey Hill’s Black Friday Specials are starting Thursday, November 26th at 10 pm and ending at Midnight Friday, November 27th.  Turkey Hill will offer each shopper a free 16-ounce cup of coffee, fountain or slushey on Black Friday.

The Local Gathering Church of the Nazarene will be hosting a Rummage Sale on November 28th 8am – 2pm.  Their location is 611 Shippensburg Rd. Shippensburg PA. (Newburg Rd Rt. 696; Half Mile past the Ridge Road)

Newburg

Newburg’s Christmas in the County will kick off its Holiday events with a tree lighting on November 27th at 7 pm at the Gazebo (downtown Newburg).

Mister Ed’s Elephant Museum and Candy Emporium hosts its annual Santa Claus arrival celebration on Sunday, Nov. 29, from 2-4 p.m.  Children can meet and have their picture taken with Santa, and each child will receive a $5 gift certificate to redeem at Mister Ed’s before Dec. 31. Mister Ed’s is halfway between Gettysburg and Chambersburg along the historic Lincoln Highway (Route 30) at 6019 Chambersburg Road, Orrtanna.

Big Hero 6 (PG) will be shown at the Capitol Theatre, 159 S. Main St., Chambersburg; $5; pizza available 2 pm.  Movie will begin at 3 pm on Friday.

Cluggy’s Family Amusement Center, 393 Beddington Blvd., Chambersburg, is hosting Black Friday Specials. On Friday, November 27 they will open at 9AM. See the specials HERE!

 

Craft Shows, Holiday Bazaars, and Open Houses

The Holiday Craft & Fine Art Show will be held Saturday, November 28 between 9 am-4 pm.  The event is at the Carlisle Expo Center, 100 K Street, Carlisle. The show houses more than 100 vendors and sells only handmade items.  Catering is provided by Flinchy’s, large bake sale, and bring the kids out for pictures with Santa from 11 am- 1 pm.

The Drying Shed is having its Holiday Open House Friday, November 27 & 28 and December 4 & 5 (Fridays 10 – 7 and Saturdays 10 – 4).  The Drying Shed, 1587 Newcomer Rd, Chambersburg is a dried flower farm and greenhouse. Choose from a selection of fresh evergreen wreaths, swags, and centerpieces. Also, find a variety of dried wreaths, arrangements, and enamelware.  Regular Hours:  Tue. – Fri. 10 -5 & Sat. 10 -4.

Roots Cut Flower Farm, 2428 Walnut Bottom Road, Carlisle is have a Holiday POP-UP Shop!  Their Wreath Sale Open House will be held for four days: Friday November 27, Saturday November 28, Saturday December 5 and Saturday December 12. Christmas Wreaths, Arrangements, Garland, Rosemary Topiaries, Succulent Gardens, Roots T-Shirts, Santa Wood Carvings by Paul Hoch, Block Printed Ornaments & Cards by Carol Reed and Stone Carved Bird Baths by Mike Elston! Hours:  10 am – 4 pm

Vintage Market at the Old Red Barn, 1293 Warm Spring Rd, Chambersburg will be having a Holiday Open House on November 27, 28, and 29!  Furniture, holiday items, designer decor & more.  Open the second weekend of each month Friday and Saturday 10 a.m.-5 p.m., and Sunday noon to 5 p.m. 

A Holiday Bazaar at Trinity Episcopal Church will take place on November 28th 8 am – 2 pm.  It will feature the work of local artisans and benefit Trinity’s literacy program.  The church is located at 58 S 2nd St, Chambersburg.

The Annual Air Hill Craft and Bake Sale to benefit youth missions will be held on Saturday, November 28 8 am – 2 pm.  Home party vendors, wooden items, candles, wreaths, knitted items, baked goods, and more.  Door prizes. The Air Hill Church is at 7041 Cumberland Highway, Chambersburg.


Ongoing Christmas Events & Attractions

Polar Bear Express at Rockhill Furnace will be held Nov 27 – Dec 13, Fridays and Saturdays 6:30-9pm at the Rockhill Trolley Museum. Take a night-time ride on an enclosed and heated, restored, antique trolley and see the lighted holiday displays and sing carols along the way, then enjoy free hot chocolate & cookies by the bonfire back at the Pavilion.

The Winter Wonderland at Dutch Wonderland is continues this weekend with select dates.  Please refer to their website for dates & times.  Enjoy rides and attractions, games, festive entertainment, and The Royal Light Show.  Dutch Wonderland is located at 2249 Lincoln Highway East, Lancaster, PA.

This weekend, Hersheypark Candylane continues and is double the size with 4 million lights, 9 new rides – including 4 coasters – Cocoa Cruiser, Wildcat, Laff Trakk and sooperdooperLooper. There are more than 20 kiddie rides are available.  Christmas Candylane tickets are regularly $18.00. Giant’s price is HERE.

Santa’s Wonderland is at Bass Pro Shops, 3501 Paxton Street, Harrisburg.  There are free crafts, games, and activities.  Kids get a FREE 4×6 photo with Santa.  Please refer to the website for specific times.

The Trains of Christmas at Hagerstown Roundhouse Museum continues this weekend.  Fridays, Saturdays, & Sundays 1 – 5 pm. The Trains of Christmas Show features an “O” Scale 3-Rail Christmas layout with steam and diesel trains by Lionel, MTH, Williams, Weaver, and other operating in snow scene on four levels. Railroad artifacts, photos, trains for kids to run, and a gift shop too! Admission: $5 Adults; $.50 Kids (ages 12 & under).

Whitaker Center’s Holiday Trains & Trees exhibit is open.  Beautifully decorated trees, surrounded by themed toy train sets and hands-on activities.  Holiday Trains and Trees is included with standard Science Center admission. The Holiday Film Series at the Whitaker Center continues with The Polar Express 3D.  The Whitaker Center for Science and the Arts is located at 222 Market Street, Harrisburg.
