SHIPPENSBURG CAMPS:

 

SHIPPENSBURG UNIVERSITY SUMMER CAMPS

Shippensburg University, 1871 Old Main Drive, Shippensburg, PA 17257

Shippensburg University offers a variety of day & overnight summer camps designed to improve athletic skills, provide academic enrichment, and to explore new and exciting activities. Camps in a variety of sports and academic disciplines are available to boys and girls ages 8 – 17 years in both residential and commuter plans.  Find them all HERE!

SHIPPENSBURG SUMMER PLAYGROUND

Shippensburg Memorial Park, Park Place, Shippensburg, PA 17257

The Shippensburg Community Parks and Recreation Authority offers a summer playground program for ages 4-14 (grades K – 7).  Summer Playground is a 10 week program that starts May 31st and ends August 5th. The program runs throughout the week Monday through Friday, 7am to 5pm (Late Pickup Available).  Fee includes membership to the pool, arts, crafts, sports, and special events! Residents: (Southampton Franklin County & Borough of Ship) Full-time Participate: $500.00 Non-Residents:  Full-time Participate: $600.00  Part-Time: (24 days) $375.00

SOUTHAMPTON TOWNSHIP SUMMER CAMP

Southampton Township Community Center, 200 Airport Rd, Shippensburg, PA 17257

Southampton Township-Cumberland County’s summer camp is offered to boys and girls age 6-14. This day camp will run from 7:30 am to 4:30 pm Monday through Friday. Cost will be $225.00 for the 9 week session or $50/week. This year camp is tentatively scheduled to start on Monday, June 6, 2016 and end on Friday, August 5, 2016. Campers will participate in structured activities that will include nature walks, insect safaris, basketball, kickball, soccer, volleyball, cookouts, and crafts, movies on the big screen, board games, other outdoor activities, and Field Trips.

SHIPPENSBURG ARTS PROGRAMMING & EDUCATION (SHAPE) SUMMER ART CAMP

SHAPE Art Camps for Ages 6 to 12 will include the themes “The Natural World”  July 11 – 15, 9am–12pm and “An Artist a Day”  July 25 – 29, 9am–12pm. Cost for the week – $50 members – $75 non-members.

BOYS AND GIRLS CLUB SUMMER CAMP

Shippensburg & Chambersburg location

The Boys & Girls Club offers a six to eight-week summer camp in Shippensburg & Chambersburg where kids can enjoy games, educational field trips, activities, and more with their friends and mentors. Emphasis on Character and Leadership Development, Academic Success, and Healthy Lifestyles. SHIPPENSBURG location:  June 13 to August 5, Monday-Friday from 8:30 am to 4:30 pm (extended hours available for one time fee of $50 0 7:45am-5:15pm; Price:  $40/week  Lunch is provided.  CHAMBERSBURG location:  June 13 to July 29, Monday-Friday from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm Price:  $30/week  Breakfast and lunch provided. CAMP SHINE

Camp Shine day camp (West Shore YMCA) for grades 1st through 8th grade.  Camp Hours: 6 am-5:30 pm; Camp Weeks: May 31-August 17; Camp Fee per Week: $125

SHIPPENSBURG PUBLIC LIBRARY

The 2016 Summer Reading Program at our local library is popular with children & parents.  Drop in at the library to enjoy free programs over the summer.  Information will be updated when the Summer Reading Challenge, Kick Off, and Performers are announced.

SUMMER LUNCH PROGRAM

The Shippensburg Community Resource Coalition is once again planning to host the Summer Lunch Program in Shippensburg! All activities & lunches are free and open to youth ages 5-18. Lunch is served every week day starting June 15th until August 5th at 11:30am until 12:00pm. The lunches will be distributed at St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church. ACTIVITIES 9:00-11:30am every day LUNCH at 11:30am every day.  This program is coordinated by the Shippensburg Community Resource Coalition. It is supported by Summit Endowment, Shippensburg University, Building Our Pride in Chambersburg (BOPiC), Shippensburg Produce & Outreach (SPO) Shippensburg Area School District and area churches.

SASD FOUNDATION CAMP (Summer Art Explorations)

Shippensburg Area Senior High School

The Summer Art Explorations Camp for 2016 is scheduled for June 27 – 30 for 3rd through 8th graders.  Four course options – Fiber Arts, Warm Glass, Painting & Printing, and Shadows, Silhouettes, & Storybooks.  Cost $130 per course.

SHIPPENSBURG AREA YOUTH ALTHETICS (SAYA) BASKETBALL CLINIC

Shippensburg Area High School Gymnasium and Shippensburg Middle School

The Boys Basketball Summer Clinic will be held June 6 – 23 Mon-Thurs 8:30 am-11:30 am for Grades 3-12.  Location is the Shippensburg High School Gym.  Cost $50 (includes Tshirt). 

The Girls Basketball Summer Clinic will be held June 20 – 23 at the Shippensburg Middle School.  Grades 3-5 8 am – 12 pm.  Grades 6-8 1 pm – 5 pm.  Cost $25 (includes Tshirt).

2016 RON’S RISING STARS FOOTBALL CAMP

Southampton Township Parks New Tiger Stadium

The 7th Annual Ron’s Rising Stars Football Camp will be held July 11-15, 2016 at Southampton Township Parks Tiger Stadium in Shippensburg for ages 8 to 18.  Find the Camp Brochure here.

TWIN VALLEY GIRL SCOUT COMMUNITY TWILIGHT CAMP

LSL Sportsman Club, 3549 Orrstown Rd, Orrstown, PA 17244

Twilight Camp is a summer camping event for all girls entering grades 1-12 in the Fall. Camp is held Monday June 13 – Friday June 17, from 6:00 – 8:00 PM, with an optional overnight Friday through 9:00 AM Saturday morning June 18. This year’s theme is based on the movie Inside Out. Fee $20/member or $35/non-member.


BEYOND SHIPPENSBURG:

 

GOOD NEWS CAMP 2016

The majority of the weekly camps are at Teeter Park, Country Club Road, Waynesboro.  Other locations include Orrstown, Dublin Mills, and Path Valley.

Child Evangelism Fellowship of Franklin/Fulton Counties, a non-profit, religious organization, offers Good News Camp for eleven different weeks at 4 locations. Cost $45/week. Registration forms are available here.

TOTEM POLE’S CHILDREN’S THEATRE CAMP

Totem Pole Playhouse, 9555 Golf Course Road, Fayetteville, PA

Young campers will discover the magic of live theatre while learning acting games and skills used to create vibrant characters. They will also learn elements of set design, costumes, and make-up. All participants will perform on the Totem Pole stage in their own production of a classic work of children’s theatre.  Open to students ages 8 to 12 and will run from June 13 – 24, 2016, Monday through Friday, 10 a.m. – 3 p.m.  Limited Capacity. Cost $200.

TOTEM POLE’S COMEDY & IMPROV CAMP

Totem Pole Playhouse, 9555 Golf Course Road, Fayetteville, PA

Campers will perform in their own show similar to Saturday Night Live and Whose Line Is It Anyway?.  They will learn about creating memorable characters, developing sketch writing skills, and creating improvisation scenes from their own imaginations.  Open to students ages 13 to 18 and will run from June 27 – July 8, 2016, Monday through Friday, 10 am – 4 pm.  Limited Capacity. Cost $200.

CHAMBERSBURG MEMORIAL YMCA

WILSON COLLEGE SUMMER CAMP

Wilson College, 1015 Philadelphia Ave., Chambersburg, PA 17201

Wilson College will once again offer their SEEDS Program for one week in June (June 20 – 24, 2016) and July (July 11 – 15, 2016) 9 am – 4 pm.  Each SEEDS camper, grades K – 6, will receive instruction through 4 different courses that will teach them skills and knowledge they can use in everyday life.  $200/child/week (2 snacks provided through out the day but each camper must bring their own lunch).  See the course options/registration HERE!

COUNCIL FOR THE ARTS IN CHAMBERSBURG

The Council for the Arts, 81 N. Main Street, Chambersburg

The Council for the Arts, 81 N. Main Street, Chambersburg has two options for Summer Art Camp.  Art Adventures: Let’s Travel Around the World and Glowing and Flowing: The Science of Art are both offered to ages 6 to 11.  Cost $90.

SUMMER THEATRE ARTS GROUP EXPERIENCE (STAGE)

Capitol Theatre, 159 South Main Street, Chambersburg, PA 17201

STAGE Campers range in age from 8 to 18 and during the one week camp learn the many aspects of theatre production (ie auditions, rehearsals, final performance). This year the week long day camp at the Capitol Theatre will be held July 24-30.  Camp will include rehearsals & performances of James and the Giant Peach, Jr. Cost $175.

RHODES GROVE CAMP

SUMMER CAMPS & FUN AT WILSON SCHOOL OF GYMNASTICS, CHEER, AND DANCE

Wilson School of Gymnastics, Cheer, and Dance has Summer Camps, Clinics, Fun Days, and Sleepovers over the summer months.  All classes, camps and clinics are open to everyone!

CHAMBERSBURG PROJECT

Chambersburg Magnet School

The Chambersburg Project is a one week missions project held each July. During the week (July 10 – 15, 2016), youth from area churches renovate and repair homes for residents of Franklin County who are unable to make the repairs themselves due to physical limitations or financial circumstances. Cost: $200 for teens (Must have completed 7th grade) and $0 for adults serving in a leadership capacity (18+). Location:  Career Magnet School  To sign up go HERE.

JOY EL CAMPS AND RETREATS

DICKINSON COLLEGE SUMMER CAMP SCHOOL AGE PROGRAM

Dickinson College, Carlisle, PA 17013

Dickinson College Children’s Center offers two Summer School Age Programs, Dragons I for children ages 6-8 and Dragons II for ages 8-12 .  The camp runs Monday through Friday, 7:30-5:30.  Part time slots are also available.  The camp activities include: arts & crafts, group games, swimming, field trips and weekly library visits.  Find the application here.

CHRISTIAN RETREAT CENTER (CRC)

The Christian Retreat Center provides a Christian camping opportunity sponsored by the Brethren in Christ Church for children and youth, ages 6 – 18. Various Summer Camps are offered – Paintball Camp,  Horse Camp,  Pioneer Camps,  Discovery Week.

SUMMER FUN DAYS – NEWVILLE BOROUGH PLAYGROUND

Newville Borough Playground

Green Spring First Church of God offers Summer Fun Days in the park at the Newville Borough Playground.  Parents are welcome and encouraged to stay at the playground with their children. 2016 Summer information has not been released yet.  Go here for updates.

CAMP YOLIJWA

Doubling Gap Center, Camp YoliJwa – 1550 Doubling Gap Road Newville, PA 17241

Doubling Gap Center in Newville is home to Camp YoliJwa (YOuth LIving Jesus’ WAy), a Christian Camping Ministry of the Eastern Regional Conference Churches of God. The YoliJwa program consists of fifteen weeks of summer camp and four different weekend retreats for grades K – 12th.  See the 2016 Summer Brochure here.

Whitetail Resort offers Summer Camps including  Kid’s Adventure Camps – Campers ages 7 – 12; The Farside Adventure – Campers ages 11 – 15; and The Bold Decision Experience – Campers ages 14 – 17.

KINGS GAP ENVIRONMENTAL EDUCATION CENTER

Pennsylvania State Parks’ DiscoverE camp series is designed to help children (ages 4 – 17) learn about the world around them.  EcoQuest camp for young teens combines physically challenging recreational adventures with resource conservation learning.   Cost $25-$65. See their program brochure here.

CARLISLE YMCA

Carlisle Family YMCA, 311 South West Street, Carlisle, PA 17013

New Frontiers Day Camp (ages 8-14) will travel from the Y each day by bus to the 100-acre Y’s Men and Women’s Club farm, located about 10 minutes from the Y.  YWCA Preschool Summer Camp is a recreational camp for 3, 4 and 5 year olds (who have not yet attended kindergarten).  Camp runs Monday through Thursday from 9:30 to 12:30 each day. CARLISLE PARKS & RECREATION DAY CAMP

Stuart Community Center, 415 Franklin Street, Carlisle, PA

The Carlisle borough offers day camp for ages 5 – 8 and ages 9 – 14.  The children enjoy sports, games, crafts, walking field trips and afternoons at the Carlisle Community Pool. Monday—Friday, June 6—August 19 (No camp: 7/4).  Cost: $95/resident, $105/non-resident (per week)  A detailed 2016 Summer Park Guide is available online here.
