Shippensburg

On Friday evening, April 15th 4 pm – 7 pm view the paintings of Satsvarupa, a Hare Krishna monk whose art has challenged the establishment. Satsvarupa has exhibited in Washington D.C., and New York City as well as many other galleries. Shippensburg Arts Programming and Education (SHAPE) gallery is located at 19 East King St. Shippensburg.

Shippensburg University’s Red Raider Football “Red-White” Game, is scheduled for Saturday, April 16 at NOON from SU Student Association Field at Seth Grove Stadium. Admission is free for all fans, Tailgating is permitted (starts at 10 AM), Red Raider Marching Band will perform, Concession stand will be open.

The 10th annual Race, Run, Ride & Ramble trail festival held on the Cumberland Valley Rail-Trail will take place Sunday, April 17 9 AM. The series of events held throughout the day will be based at the Shippensburg Township Park and will traverse 9.3 miles of completed rail-trail between the park and Newville.  Enjoy live music by the Neegly Brothers and a chicken BBQ lunch along with 2 running races, a hike and a bike ride. All proceeds from the event will benefit the Cumberland Valley Rail-to-Trails Council (CVRTC) and will be used for maintaining the current trail along with extending the trail into Shippensburg and Carlisle.

The Local Gathering, 611 Shippensburg Rd, is hosting Silly Saturdays with Weird Animals on Saturday, April 16 9:45am registration: 10am-12pm.  This is like a VBS but a Parent/Guardian must also attend with children and lunch is provided. Bible Time; Craft; Full Lunch; and Games. Ages 3 years to Fifth grade; Teens can come to help and Nursery will be available. The whole family is welcome. 

Sunday, April 17th 3 pm, Shippensburg University-Community Orchestra at will perform at H. Ric Luhrs Performing Arts Center, 475 Lancaster Drive, Shippensburg.  Haydn’s “Mass in Time of War,” Russell Peck’s “Peace Overture.”  Free admission, no ticket required.

Rachel's Country Store April 2016

Rachel’s Country Store is having its 19th Anniversary Sale & Multi Family Yard Sale on Saturday, April 16, 2016 at 7:00 am! 15th Annual Kid’s Fishing Derby at Green Spring Brethren in Christ Church, 720 Greenspring Road, Newville will be held Saturday, April 16th from 8 am – noon. All children (ages 3-15) must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. Registration begins at 7:00 a.m. on Derby Day! Fishing starts promptly at 8:00 a.m. Free fishing, door prizes and food stand.

Cumberland Drive-In Theatre, 3290 Ritner Highway, Newville, is open Friday – Sunday.  April 15  & April 16 Gates open at 7 pm.  First Feature:  Jungle Book  Second Feature: Zootopia  Sunday April 17 Bonus Feature – Showing Jungle Book only. Mechanicsburg

On Friday, April 15th 8pm, Williams Grove Speedway, 1 Speedway Dr, Mechanicsburg will have 410 Sprints Yellow Breeches 500 & PASS IMCA Sprints.  Gate admission $14, Youth $10, Kids 12 and under FREE.

Roxbury

The Blue Mountain Skating Rink is located 1 mile west of Roxbury, PA on Rt 641.  The roller skating rink is open for public skating this Friday, April 15th from 7-9 PM Admission is only $3 and skate rentals are $1.  Kids 6 and under are FREE and non-skating adults are FREE.

Chambersburg

Franklin County Builders Show will be returning to Chambersburg Mall, Friday, April 15th – Sunday, April 17th! Free Admission. Located throughout common area of mall.

Spring Into History is being held in Franklin County on April 16, 2016 from 10 am till 4 pm.  Take a leisurely tour around Chambersburg to visit local historical sites in Franklin County.  Explore history museums, historic sites and societies to learn about the history of the Underground Railroad, Civil War, frontier America & more!

The Wilson College Veterinary Medical Technology Club will host dog washes from 9 AM – 3 PM Saturday and Sunday, April 16 and 17, in the college veterinary building on the Wilson College campus, 1015 Philadelphia Ave., Chambersburg.  The dog washes are open to the public.  The cost is $10 for small dogs, $15 for medium dogs, $20 for large dogs and $25 for extra-large or double-coated dogs. The fee includes a bath, nail trim, ear cleaning and drying, all of which will be performed by VMT Club members.  Owners must present a paper copy of their dog’s rabies vaccination.

Operation Christmas Child volunteers are having their ninth auction, Saturday, April 16th, 2016. Auction items will be on display at 2 PM for your review. Auction starts at 3 PM at the Chambersburg Mennonite Church, 1800 Philadelphia Ave. Chambersburg. Food stand will be available.

Chipotle is inviting all youth soccer players (14 or younger) to wear their team uniform to any Chipotle on Saturday, April 16th for a Buy One Get One BURRITOS, BOWLS, SALADS, ORDER OF TACOS, OR KID’S MEAL!

Gettysburg

Land of Little Horses Farm Park turns 45 in 2016! Celebrate Land of Little Horses’ 45th Birthday with Carrot Cake and Retro Admission Rates on April 17, 2016 noon – 5 pm!  Park is open until 5 pm but the last admission is 4 pm“Retro” rates for April 17th only will be $7.00 per person, ages 2 and above.  Under 2 is free.  Land of Little Horses Farm Park is located at 125 Glenwood Dr, Gettysburg.

At Eisenhower National Historic Site on April 16 9 AM – 5 PM, children ages 7 to 12 are invited to complete the Junior Secret Service Agent Training Manual and earn their badge and certificate. In addition to the Jr. Ranger activities, park rangers will present programs on Eisenhower and the Secret Service at 11:15 AM and 2:15 PM. Children will also earn a special patch commemorating National Junior Ranger Day.

Bigerville

Taylor’s Greenhouse, located behind the South Mountain Fairground at 265 Fairgrounds Rd., Biglerville, PA is open for the 2016 season. Greenhouse hours are Monday – Friday 8 am – 7 pm and Saturday – Sunday 8 am – 5 pm. They offer 5% discount on all cash purchases!  On Saturday, April 16th from 10 am – 4 pm they are hosting  a FREE event “Everything Butterflies!” Folk’s Butterfly Farm will feature their walk-in Flight House full of butterflies for kids of all ages to enjoy. You will be able to feed the butterflies and take pictures while in the enclosure. There will be informal presentations on butterflies and showcasing plants to help make a butterfly garden of your own!

Hershey

Hershey Gardens is having a free Community Day.  On April 16th, all visitors will get a FREE admission from 9 am – 5 pm during Gardenfest!  From 10 am to 2 pm, local organizations will offer information on various community and garden programs.

Boonsboro, MD

Washington County Agricultural Education Center, 7313 Sharpsburg Pike, Boonsboro, MD is hosting the Interstate BBQ Festival.  Saturday, April 16, 2016, 11 AM – 6 PM have fun at this family event that celebrates everything BBQ.  Free KIDS ZONE activities!  Local beer and wine, BBQ competitions (professional and backyard). $15/general admission Sat., free/kids ages 12 & under.
