SHIPPENSBURG

Katie’s Place Thrift Shop is having its next monthly sale September 15, 16, & 17 from 8 AM – Noon.  The store is located at the old Martin’s Bakery Building (go down the hill to the bottom of the building) at the corner of S. Penn and E. Garfield Streets in Shippensburg .

The Local Gathering is having a Vendor and Craft Show Fundraiser on Saturday, September 17 10 AM – 2 PM.

Uprise Festival 2016 will be held September 16 and September 17 at Shippensburg Fairgrounds, Possum Hollow Road. Friday:  Gates open at 4 PM, Music at 5:30 PM;  Saturday:  Gates open at 9 AM, Music at 10:30 AM.  Inflatables, children’s tent, petting zoo, skate park, meet & greets, graffiti wall, food vendors, youth worker tent, giveaways and more!  For full line up and ticket info visit uprisefest.com.

NEWVILLE

imagePA Trappers District & 38th Annual Sportsman Show will take place on Saturday, Sept. 17th at the Newville Lions Club Fairgrounds.

On Saturday September 17 from 10 AM – 2 PM, there is a family friendly dog walk on the Rail To Trails! This is to help encourage pet exercise and to raise money for trail extension. There will be face painting, a food stand, bake sale and a pet safety demonstration. Bring all your 2 and 4 legged family members and come out for some fresh air and exercise!

The Council for the Arts will host an “Arts in the Alley” event on Saturday, September 17, 2016 from 1 PM until 6 PM in the Parking Lot at Noelker and Hull Associates, combined with the back patios of Council for the Arts and Bistro 71.  Tickets are $10 for adults | $5 for 12 and under – purchase at the door.

The annual Chambersburg Hispanic American Center Latino Harvest Festival will be held at the Chambersburg Memorial Park on Sunday, September 18, 2016 from noon until 5 PM.

Country Creek Produce Farm is honoring our Hometown Heroes with their Corn Maze this year.  Their 14 acre maze opens Sat. Sept 17.

Stoner’s Dairy Farm and Corn Maze in Mercersburg offers weekend Fall activities.  Fall Corn Maze Weekends continue through Sunday, October 30th. Hours are Saturday Noon – 10 PM & Sunday Noon – 5 PM, and open Friday nights beginning Friday, September 16th; 7 PM – 10 PM.

On September 16-18, the Annual Steam & Gas Show will be held at Two Top Ruritan Grounds, Mercersburg.  A tractor pull, a lawn and garden tractor and farm tractor parade, and musical entertainment, as well as homemade soups, sandwiches, and fresh-cut fries.

CARLISLE/MT HOLLY SPRINGS

Carlisle’s 19th-Century Firehouses Walking Tour will be held September 17 at 10:15 AM.  Visit six firehouses from the 1800s, look at Carlisle’s most burned block and learn about historical events. Reservations required. Cost: $8/member; $12/nonmember; $5/school-age-children.

Holly Festival Day is September 17th and features food, crafts, antiques, a flea market, information booths, independent consultants, free children’s activities, the Blue Moon Cruisers Car Club, Touch-A-Truck, and the smoke house. Hours 8:30 AM – 3 PM.

YORK

The York Fair runs Sept 9 – 18th.  America’s oldest fair, with offerings including entertainment and concerts.

On September 17th from 10 AM – 4 PM, Central Penn Family Festival (Cousler Park, York) will have live music and performances, animals, bounce houses, story times and nearly 100 exhibitors offering child-friendly activities. Children are invited to dress up for the costume parade or bring a favorite stuffed animal for a check-up.  FREE admission.

HARRISBURG/HALIFAX

Sunday, September 18th from 10 AM – 5 PM is Fort Hunter Day.   Once a year, Front Street is closed down to get a sense of the area before automobiles.  The day includes children’s crafts and games; exhibits of 19th century life, farm animals, hay and carriage rides; live music; a craft show; food; and quilt displays.

September 17 from 11AM – 3 PM is Founder’s Day at Lake Tobias Wildlife Park.  Complimentary pork sandwiches while supplies last, along with a musical performance, face painting, prize giveaways and children’s activities such as pony rides.

TIPTON

At DelGrosso’s Amusement Park, everyone (up to 10 people) safely seat belted in the car can get an All-Day Fun Pass for just $15 per car.  $15 Car Load Sale is for Saturday and Sunday – September 17th and 18th Only !  Laguna Splash Water Park will be closed for the $15 Car Load Weekend Sale.

North Square Farmers Market, 50 N. Main Street, Saturday, September 17 from 8 AM to NoonChildren ages 3 -12 can sign up for POP (Power of Produce) Club.  Members receive $2 in tokens per market visit to be used on produce or vegetable plant.

A Miniature Train rides the rails at Norlo Park, 3050 Lincoln Way East, Fayetteville on Saturdays. It is open to riders of all ages. The train, complete with a cattle car and caboose, is FREE to ride on Saturdays weather permitting from 1 PM to 4 PM throughout Summer & Fall.

The 36th annual season of the Pennsylvania Renaissance Faire at Mount Hope Estate continues every Saturday and Sunday and Labor Day Monday through October 30, 2016. The Faire features costumed characters, themed entertainment, music, dancing, 90 shows daily, 22 royal kitchens, artisan merchants, and handcrafted wares. Mount Hope Estate is located in Northern Lancaster County at 2775 Lebanon Road, Manheim, PA. The event is rain or shine.  Gates open 11 AM and close at 8 PM. Each of the 13 weekends will showcase a different theme.
