Here’s a list of opportunities to get out and about this weekend in Shippensburg and Beyond!

Shippensburg

The Doo Wop Project will perform at Luhrs Performing Arts Center on Saturday, Feb. 18th at 8 PM.  Their show begins at the beginning, tracing the evolution of Doo Woop from the classic sound of five guys singing tight harmonies on a street corner to the biggest hits on the radio today. $28 Front Orchestra $28 Orchestra/Front Balcony/Side Balcony $24 Upper Orchestra $20 Upper Balcony

Book Nook at the Shippensburg Public Library has all hardback books buy one get one free in February.

Roxbury

The Blue Mountain Skating Rink is located 1 mile west of Roxbury, PA on Rt 641.  The roller skating rink is open for public skating on Friday evenings from 7-9 PM Admission is only $4 and skate rentals are $1.  Kids 6 and under are FREE and non-skating adults are FREE.

Carlisle

Create a felted wool owl with local artist Bonnie Tweedy Shaw at History on High – The Shop. This Felting Class will be held on Saturday, February 18th from 10:30 to 12:30 pm in the conference room behind the shop.  Must be at least 12 years old. Call 249-1626 to save your spot! History on High is located at 33 West High Street in Carlisle.  The cost is $40 for Non-members. Supplies will be $15.

Chambersburg

Chick-fil-A Chambersburg is offering up FREE Coffee Fridays throughout February 2017.  Come in for breakfast (6:30 AM – 10:30 AM) this February and enjoy a free medium hot coffee each Friday.  No purchase necessary.

The Inn at Ragged Edge is hosting an evening with Anastasia Seifetdinova Saturday, February 18 at 7 PM.  Her performance will be on a Steinway Parlor Grand Piano built for Harrods of London in 1901.  Free admission, donations accepted. Limited seating, please contact the Inn to reserve seats.

Mt. Olivet United Brethren Church (8204 Fort McCord Rd) is holding their 4th Annual Winter Carnival on Feb. 18 from 9:30 AM – Noon.  There will be winter themed games, food, prizes, activities and fun for children 10 and under.  This is a FREE event.

The Cumberland Valley Animal Shelter is hosting Cabin Fever Music Fest from 6 to 10:40 PM, Saturday, February 18, in the Orchards Ballroom, 1580 Orchard Drive.  Tickets are $10 in advance or $12 at the door.  The doors will open at 5 PM with music starting at 6.

Harrisburg

This weekend, February 18th and 19th see the nation’s largest all indoor motorsports event at the PA Farm Show Complex,  2300 N. Cameron St, Harrisburg.  Motorama is about racing – watch Arena Cross, Go Kart, Quarter Midget and Remote Control Racing or take a walk through the Rod, Custom and Classic Car Show.

Hershey

Zoo America has $6 Fridays where all visitors get in for $6 every Friday during the winter through March 2017. Admission is regularly $11 per person for ages 9-54, $9 for ages 3-8 & 55+, and free for ages 2 and under.

On Friday, February 17, 2017 is the Hershey-Derry Township Historical Society’s 7th annual Skate Party from 7 – 9 PM.  Kids will have a unique opportunity to skate with Coco the Hershey Bear’s mascot, taste some treats, and have fun with their friends. Local historian Bob Shaffer will host a lecture on how arena ice is made and how the Zamboni is used to create an ideal ice-skating surface. Everyone will get an up-close look at the Zamboni and can have their picture taken with this iconic symbol of ice hockey.  Admission price is $5 with advance purchase of tickets at the Historical Society or www.hersheyhistory.org, or $7 at the door. The price of tickets includes skate rentals, tours, lectures, and light refreshments. Children under five skate free. Beginner skaters should wear a helmet.  Parking will be available at no charge.   Please enter the Arena at Box Office 4.
