Here’s a list of opportunities to get out and about this weekend in South Central PA!

Shippensburg

Katie’s Place Thrift Shop, corner of S. Penn and E. Garfield Streets is open Thursday, Friday, and Saturday from 8AM – Noon.  SHOES – 25 cents/pair and BOOKS – 10 cents for paperbacks and 25 cents for hardback, & many more deals!

Shippensburg Fly Fishing Club is hosting their Children’s Fishing Derby on April 29 from 8AM – Noon at Rowe Run Creek in Orrstown.  Registration starts at 7AM.  All Children ages 3 – 12 are welcome to participate in this free event.  Prizes will be awarded for tagged fish caught and turned in before Noon.  Food and refreshments will be available for purchase.

The Little Princess Playhouse returns April 29 & May 6 with productions of Alice in Wonderland and Princess Club.  The playhouse will present the double-feature at 10AM and again at 11:30AM in Stewart Hall, Old Main Drive, Shippensburg.  Tickets for the double feature are $5 and will be available at the door.

The Greyhound Foundation’s Color Run will be on Saturday, April 29th at the Shippensburg Area Senior High School. Registration begins at 8:15AM and the race starts at 9AM.

Cumberland Valley Hitmen will take on the Mount Joy Cyclones on April 29 at Veterans Memorial Park.  Game time is at 7PM.  FREE admission and concession stand will be open.

Jungle Jack Hanna is returning to the Luhrs Performing Arts Center, Shippensburg University, on Saturday, April 29, 7:30 PM, with some of his favorite animal friends!  Jungle Jack will introduce attendees to some of the world’s spectacular animals and share humorous stories and exclusive footage from his worldwide adventures.

The Shippensburg Band’s annual Spring Concert at the Shippensburg Senior High Auditorium is April 30 at 2:30PM.  The performance features music from the movies.

Newville/Carlisle

The Cumberland Valley Tractor Pullers Association’s pull season will kick off on April 29th, 6:30PM.  Admission is $10 for adults with children under 12 free.  The Tractor/Truck Pulls are held at the Newville Lions Fairgrounds on Route 533.

Cumberland Drive-In Theatre is open April 28 – April 29.  Showing will be “Boss Baby” and “Saban’s PowerRangers.”  Gates open at 7 PM.  First feature begins at approximately 8:05 PM.

Chambersburg

On Friday April 28 from 7PM – 9PM, support Over The Rainbow Children’s Advocacy Center at Brussel’s Cafe by enjoying local talent Elise Stendal to help raise awareness about child abuse.  Brussel’s will offer specific Crepes and Authentic Waffles for the evening along with event drinks.

C.V. Antique Engine & Machinery Assoc., Inc.’s Steam and Gas Show will be held April 29 & 30.

Franklin County’s sixth annual history ramble, Spring Into History is April 29.  Spring into History has over twenty historical sites and museums organized in a circular route that visitors can tour.  All sites have no admission fee.  Going on as well during April 29 is the United Way of Franklin County’s Hunt United history scavenger hunt.  Enjoy a carnival-themed after party, cash prizes, music and more. Nitterhouse Masonry & Hardware Store at 859 Cleveland Ave, Chambersburg is having an Anniversary Sale on April 29.

Enjoy the Smithsonian Jazz Masterworks Concert, A Tribute to Ella Fitzgerald at the Capitol Theater on April 30, 3PM.  Tickets are $10/person.  Details here.

A LuLaRoe Fundraising Event to support the Phoenix Fastpitch 10u Softball Team (Chambersburg) will be held on Sunday, April 30th from 1PM – 4PM.

Waynesboro

The Redneck Outlaws Inc. will be having their 4th Annual Trout Derby on April 29, 8AM at the Beaver Farm.  Children up to 16 years of age.  3 Fish Limit.  Prizes and trophies will be handed out at Noon.  No tickets required just come out with your children, bait, rod and reel and enjoy this free event!  Snacks, drinks, and lunch will be served.

Renfrew Institute celebrates spring with environmental exhibits, live music, food stand, and drum circle on April 29.  At the Festival of Art, area artists will display, demonstrate, and sell their works as part of Earth Celebration Day. A Recycle-Reuse Yard Sale (9AM) is held in conjunction with this event.

Camp Hill

Stroll through downtown Camp Hill on April 29 from 9AM – 4PM for their Spring Fling.  Businesses will feature a variety of specials, promotions, demonstrations, plus live music and refreshments — including local wine and craft beer samples at designated locations — throughout the day.

Lancaster

Join Duke the Dragon and his royal friends for the Grand Opening Weekend at Dutch Wonderland, April 29th and 30th.  Dutch Wonderland is open weekends beginning Saturday, April 29; daily Memorial Day weekend through Labor Day; and weekends in September and October.

On April 29th, there is FREE admission to the National Toy Train Museum and National Toy Train Library in Ronks.  10AM – 5PM.  Door prize drawings, special toy train manufacturer presentations, food for purchase, and discounted trains and train-related items for sale.
