Here’s a list of opportunities to get out and about this weekend in South Central PA!

Shippensburg

Cumberland Valley Hitmen take on the Coal Region Tigers at home (Veterans Memorial Park) Sat, April 8 at 1PM!  FREE admission and concession stand will be open.

Come to a backyard poultry event, Poultry Palooza at the Shippensburg Tractor Supply from 10AM – 2PM on April 8. The Franklin County 4-H Poultry Club with be there with chickens and ducks.

A Yard & Bake Sale will be held at the Shippensburg Church of the Brethren Family Life Center on Saturday, April 8;  8 AM until 2 PM.   Homemade Baked Goods, Soup & Pies, Yard Sale Items, Hot Dogs & Barbecue Sandwiches.

On April 8, 1PM there will be an Egg hunt and activities at the Ridge Church of the Brethren, 1095 Ridge Road.  This FREE event includes Story, Craft, Games, Hot dogs, & Diverse Prize Eggs.  Three age divisions:  ages 1-3, age 4-1st grade, and 2nd-5th grade.

The annual Easter Egg Hunt at the Shippensburg Public Library is April 8 for children ages 2-12.  11AM; 11:30AM; Noon.  Bring your own basket.  Please call 530-4508 to register.

Enjoy a free Easter Bunny Breakfast at Memorial Lutheran Church’s Fellowship Hall on April 8.  Breakfast will be served from 8AM -11AM.  Crafts, Activities, and Door Prizes.  Reservations are appreciated but drop-ins are welcome.

Southampton Cumberland Twp. Park and Recreation will be having an Easter Egg Hunt on April 9th at 2 PM.  The egg hunt will be on the Soccer fields at 140 Airport Rd, Shippensburg.

An Annual Community Easter Egg Hunt will be held at Shippensburg Church of the Nazarene on Sunday, April 9, 2PM – 4PM.

Roxbury

The Blue Mountain Skating Rink is open for public skating on Friday evenings from 7-9 PM. Admission is only $4 and skate rentals are $1.  Kids 6 and under are FREE and non-skating adults are FREE.

Newville/Carlisle

Cumberland Drive-In Theatre is showing “Kong: Skull Island” and “Split” on opening weekend:  Friday-Saturday, April 7th-8th  Gates open at 7PM.  First feature begins at approximately 8PM.

Dickinson College will host a science open house, Science Spectacular on Saturday, April 8 from 5:30PM – 10PM in Tome Hall, Rector Science Complex, located on Louther Street between Cherry and College streets in Carlisle.  The annual science night features planetarium shows, physics demonstrations, and more!

Springfest is April 8 at the Carlisle Expo Center and will feature music, games and activities for children, food, and a variety of arts & crafts, vendors. Free admission.

Meadowbrooke Gourds, located at 125 Potato Road Carlisle is having its Spring Sale through Friday, April 7 in their retail store.  During this time you will save 25% on all Spring/Easter and All Season regular Meadowbrooke Gourds.

Newville Assembly of God (403 Oak Flat Road) is hosting a Community-wide EGG Hunt EGGstravaganza on April 8 at 1PM.  5,000+ Eggs; Ages 12 and under.  Please bring your own basket.

Come to downtown Carlisle on Saturday April 8, from Noon – 3PM for the fifth annual Bunny Hop.  Kids twelve and under are invited to  dress in their “Sunday Best” for a hop around downtown Carlisle to collect treats.  On the day of the event, a map of “Bunny Hop Stops” can be picked up at Georgie Lou’s Retro Candy, 56 W High Street, which will detail participating businesses.

A Community Egg Hunt sponsored by Big Spring Heights Church of God and the Bull Dog Prep Academy will be held on April 9 from 3PM – 5:30PM.  Free food, carnival games, balloon animals, free kids meal cards, and prizes.  All kids, walking thru Grade 5, are invited.

Mont Alto

The best collegiate lumberjacks and lumberjills in the region will converge on Penn State Mont Alto on April 8 to compete in the 16th annual Mid-Atlantic Woodsmen’s Meet and the Stihl Timbersports Collegiate Series Mid-Atlantic Qualifier.  The event is open to the public and free of charge; spectators are encouraged to bring lawn chairs.  Activities are scheduled throughout the day and feature classic lumberjack skills as chopping, felling, chain-sawing, axe-throwing, pole-climbing, archery, log-rolling, water boil, and dendrology.

Community Easter egg hunt sponsored Mont Alto Fire Department. For ages 12 and younger. 12:30 PM activities, 1:30 PM egg hunt. Mont Alto Fire Department Events Complex carnival grounds, Mont Alto.  Activities include face painting, crafts, coloring, and pictures with the Easter Bunny.

Chambersburg

UR Sweet Repeats is holding their Spring/Summer Children’s & Maternity Sale at the Amvets Pavilion,  750 5th Avenue.  April 6th 7AM – 7PM; April 7th 7AM – 7PM; April 8th 7AM – 2PM (50% off selected items).

Nitterhouse Masonry and Hardware Supply is hosting their Spring Blowout Outlet Sale on April 8 from 7AM – Noon.  This one day only outlet sale will be located on the plant side directly across from the regular outlet location.  There will be exceptional deals on overruns, discontinued colors, and slightly blemished products.  Veneer Stone, Pavers, block, retaining wall block & much more.

Kitefest is a free family event sponsored by the Chambersburg Hispanic American Center on Saturday, April 8.  Come fly a kite from 1PM – 5PM at Nitterhouse Memorial Park.  Free kite to the first 25 families needing one.  Food for sale at the Concession Stand.

The Cumberland Valley Philatelic Society will hold its Spring Stamp Expo on Saturday April 8 from 10AM – 5PM at the Chambersburg Recreation Center’s Bard Hall, 235 South 3rd St, Chambersburg. The Expo is free and open to the public, and will feature dealers, exhibits and sales, as well as a representative from the US Postal Service.

Franklin Hardware & Pet will be hosting pet photos with the Easter bunny on Friday April 7 from 4PM – 7PM.

A Children’s Easter Celebration will be April 8 at the Presbyterian Church of Falling Spring, from 10AM to Noon.   Meet the Family Life Center for a family-friendly morning of Easter-themed crafts, activities and games, enjoy a snack and end the morning hunting for Easter eggs with age-appropriate egg hunts.  This event is free and open to all.

Redeemer Church is hosting an Egg Hunt on April 8th from 4PM – 6PM at Andrew Buchanan Elementary School.  Egg-hunt, craft, & Easter Story. To help plan for this event, participants must pre-register HERE.

M&S Harley’s Easter Egg Hunt will be on Saturday, April 8 from Noon – 3PM.  Egg hunt, prize eggs for all age groups. 

Children ages 10 and under (along with their parents!) are invited to Menno Haven on Saturday, April 8th at 9AM on the Front Lawn of Menno Haven on Scotland Avenue to search for Easter eggs and visit with the Easter Bunny.

The Cumberland Valley Animal Shelter will hold their fourth annual Easter Hound Hunt at 2PM Sunday, April 9, at the shelter, 5051 Letterkenny Road West.  Registration will be at 1 p.m. or prior to the event at cvas-pets.org.  Thousands of plastic Easter eggs will be stuffed with dog treats and participants are asked to bring their dogs for the hunt.  Cost for participation is a minimum $5 donation to the shelter. Following the hunt, the shelter will hold an Easter bonnet contest.  Easter photos will also be taken by donation.

Waynesboro

Family Life Worship Center is having their annual Community Easter Fun Day and Egg Hunt (ages 0 – 11) on April 8 from Noon – 2PM.  There will be games, food, coloring station, photo booth, inflatables, basket giveaway and egg hunt!  Rain date: April 15 12-2 pm

Zullinger Community Center will be holding it’s annual Easter Egg Hunt April 8th at 11AM. Areas will be marked off per ages! Each age will go off at different times to give parents with more than one child chances to see them all collect eggs.   Bring your baskets. 

A Breakfast with the Easter Bunny followed by an Old Fashioned Easter Egg Hunt will be April 8, 8AM – 10AM at the Rouzerville Ruritan Club.  Cost:  $6/adults; $3 Children 12 and under.  Pay at the door.  For more information call 717-977-6358.

Come join Redneck Outlaws Inc. for an afternoon of fun on April 9th.  Easter Egg Hunt will be broken down into age groups from toddlers to 12 years of age.  Music/entertainment.  Egg painting station and prizes.  Concessions will be available along with a donation jar.  Outdoor event held at Pine Hill Recreation Area from 1PM to 5PM.

Prom Blessing Closet will be held on Sunday, April 9 at Waynesboro YMCA Family Program Center.  The Prom Blessing Closet’s mission is to see all young women in our area be able to attend Prom by offering gently used formal gowns and accessories without the financial burden.

Harrisburg

Discover the Dinosaurs Unleashed exhibit is coming to the PA State Farm Show Complex in Harrisburg on April 7, 8 & 9.  Friday, April 7 – 2:00 PM – 8:00 PM; Saturday, April 8 – 9:00 AM – 7:00 PM; Sunday, April 9 – 9:00 AM – 7:00 PM.  Discover the Dinosaurs Unleashed is a family-friendly, educational walk-through exhibit featuring several prehistoric attractions and activities for children ages 2 to 12.  For regular ticket prices visit HERE.

Rockhill

Ride a historic trolley to visit the Easter Bunny!  The Easter Bunny Trolley will operate Saturday, April 8 from 10 AM – 4:30 PM.  Ride aboard a historic trolley car at the Rockhill Trolley Museum to Blacklog Narrows where the Easter Bunny will board your trolley to greet each passenger. Trolleys depart approximately every 15-20 minutes. All passengers who have a ticket by 4:30PM will get a ride.
