Here’s a list of opportunities to get out and about Labor Day weekend!

If your car radio features SiriusXM Radio but you don’t subscribe, flip over and try it out today! From now through September 5, Sirius-XM has unlocked 100 satellite radio channels.

The Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission is offering two special fishing opportunities to entice adults and kids to fish on Labor Day, September 4!  The first is a $1 license for adult residents and non-residents. The second opportunity is the Mentored Youth Panfish Day.

SHIPPENSBURG

The Demolition Derby held at the Shippensburg Fairgrounds is Saturday, September 2 at 7:30 PM.  Admission: $10 (Adults), Ages 7-12: $5, Children 6 & under admitted free! Bring lawn chairs or blankets. Food is available for purchase.  Update:   The Demolition Derby in Shippensburg is still ON!

The 2017 Shippensburg Memorial Pool Season ends Monday, September 4.  On Labor Day, swim for just $2.

Wiffle Mania is coming to Cleversburg Community Center Park on Saturday, September 2.  Games start at 9AM.  Food from Holy Smokehouse BBQ and live entertainment from Your Mother’s Home Cooking.  Proceeds to benefit Shippensburg Area Youth Athletics.

CHAMBERSBURG/FAYETTEVILLE

Chambersburg’s First Friday in September is all about dogs!  Dog contests, dog groomers, dog treats and so much more from 5PM-8PM.

Lincoln Lanes is hosting Sunday Night Family Lazer Bowl beginning this Sunday, September 3.  Come out on Sunday evenings from 6PM – 8PM and bowl for $8 per person (includes shoes).  Lincoln Lanes is located at 2071 Lincoln Way East.

North Square Farmers Market, 50 N. Main Street, Saturday, September 3 from 8 AM to NoonChildren ages 3 -12 can sign up for POP (Power of Produce) Club.  Members receive $2 in tokens per market visit to be used on produce or vegetable plant.

A Miniature Train rides the rails at Norlo Park, 3050 Lincoln Way East, Fayetteville on Saturdays. It is open to riders of all ages. The train, complete with a cattle car and caboose, is FREE to ride on Saturdays weather permitting from 1PM to 4PM throughout Summer & Fall.

QUINCY

Quincy Ox-Roast Weekend is September 1 – September 4.  Held at the Quincy Community Ox Roast Association grounds off Pa. 997 north of Waynesboro, the four-day event features free admission, parking and entertainment.

NEWVILLE/CARLISLE

Carlisle’s First Friday on September 1st celebrates football season.  Enjoy the downtown with food and drink specials and a wing tasting on South Hanover Street.

Cumberland Drive-In Theatre is open Friday, Saturday, and Sunday on Labor Day Weekend.  On Friday and Saturday, September 1 & 2 gates open at 7PM.  Logan Lucky and Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets.  Sunday, September 3rd is a Triple Feature!  Gates open at 6PM.  The Drive-In is also having a Customer Appreciation BBQ from 6-8PM.  Cars 3 and Logan Lucky and Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets.

McLain Celtic Festival will take place on September 2, 9AM – 5PM.  Enjoy a day of family-oriented fun featuring Celtic music and dance, Food, Highland Athletics, Border Collie demonstrations, Scottish Clans, and vendors selling Irish and Scottish goods.  The Quitapahilla Highlanders, a military style bagpipe and drum band, will be parading through the grounds between 9:30AM and 10AM and also at Noon. Additional highlights include Border Colllie demonstrations at 10:30AM and 2PM and face painting throughout the day.  Admission is $10.  Children under 10 are free.  The festival location is Two Mile House, 1189 Walnut Bottom Rd., Carlisle.

On Sunday Sept 3, is the first annual Whiskey Rebellion Festival from 10AM – 4PM.  Reenactment of George Washington’s entry into Carlisle, Meet and greet with President Washington, Free guided tours, Children’s craft activities in the History on High Workshop, Demonstrations and talks on 18th century Life, Vendors and used book sale, and Whiskey Tastings and live music at 1794 The Whiskey Rebellion (Comfort Suites, 10 S Hanover St.).

There will be an afternoon and evening of music at King’s Gap State Park on Sunday at 3PM.  Seasons will be kicking off the concert, followed by The Celtic Martins from 6PM-8PM. Bring a chair or blanket.  Free and open to all!

GETTYSBURG/HANOVER

The Land of Little Horses is open Labor Day Monday from 10AM – 5PM.  Full schedule of events and shows.

The Hanover Chili Cook Off will be held on September 3 at Good Field in Hanover.  Since 1995, The Hanover Chili Cook Off has become a staple for family entertainment, chili tasting and fundraising for local nonprofit organizations, all built around the PA State Chili Cooking Championship. The day’s events will include three local bands, a magician, a juggler, a face painter and many varieties of chili, along with many supporting vendors.  Advance tickets $8.50.  $10.00 at gate.  Children 12 and under and active military with ID – FREE.

HARRISBURG

The annual Kipona celebration is Saturday and Sunday.  Enjoy festival events such as: Festival of India, Native American Pow Wow, Dick Reese Canoe Races, and Fireworks. Product, food and art vendors.  Festival Hours are 11AM – 8PM on Saturday & Sunday and 11AM – 7PM on Monday.  Fireworks will be held on Sunday, September 3 at 8:15PM.

HERSHEY

Hersheypark on Labor Day Weekend is extra sweet.  Enjoy a fireworks display, roller coasters, water, and family rides, and Picnic In The Park.   Save 25% on tickets by purchasing online by September 4.  Fireworks on Friday, September 1 at 10:15PM.  Picnic in the Park ($15 per person) is Saturday, September 2 | 5-8 PM; Sunday, September 3 | 5-8 PM; and Monday, September 4 | 11:30 AM – 2:30 PM.  

MANHEIM

The Pennsylvania Renaissance Faire is held on the grounds of the Mount Hope Estate.  With over 90 stage shows daily, 22 Royal Kitchens and scores of artisan merchants with handcrafted wares, the Renaissance Faire invites guests to immerse themselves in the 35-acre village and experience the fantasy.  Each weekend will showcase a unique theme:  Heroes of the Realm  Sept. 2, 3 & 4, 2017.

TIPTON

Delgrosso’s Amusement Park is offering all guests an All-Day Fun Pass for just $10 on Labor Day!  On Monday September 4, 2017, ride and slide for only $10.  Rides and Water Park open at 11AM. All-Day Fun Pass gets you all the Amusement Park Rides & the Laguna Splash Water Park.
