Shippensburg/Newburg

The second Campfire Talk (Cumberland Valley Railroad) hosted by the Shippensburg Historical Society will be held Friday, June 13, 8PM – 10PM.  Admission is free and light refreshments will be served.

Spend a day in the past at the Rural Life Festival in Newburg.  The annual event takes place Saturday, July 14, on the grounds of Newburg United Methodist Church at 203 N. High St.  Admission and parking are FREE for the event, which is held 9AM – 3PM rain or shine.  Children’s activities, demonstrations, food & MORE!

The Polar Express will be shown outside (dusk) at the Shippensburg Train Station on July 14.  Wear your pajamas and bring a chair to watch.  The movie is free!  For a $5 donation, the crew of the Polar Express will be on hand for photographs with your family, and each kid in the photo will get one of Santa’s sleigh bells. There will be a concession stand selling food and drinks.

Shippensburg Community Park & Recreation is hosting an after hour Splash Party on Saturday, July 14.  From 8PM – 10PM, swim under the lights at Memorial Park Pool.  Music and Concessions available.  Admission is $3 for all ages (2 & under free).

Fayetteville

Train rides at Norlo Park will continue on Saturday, July 14.  The miniature train, complete with a cattle car and caboose, is FREE to ride on Saturdays from 1PM – 4PM!  It is open to riders of all ages.  Last Train boards at 3:50PM.  Donations are accepted.

The 36th Annual Arts & Craft Fair at Caledonia State Park will be held Saturday, July 14 from 9AM to 4PM. Approximately 150 crafters and artists will have a variety of crafts ranging from jewelry, pottery, baskets, birdhouses, wreaths, handcrafted furniture & more.  Free Admission. This is a rain or shine event.

Greencastle

The 51st Annual Greencastle Sidewalk Days will be here July 13 & 14, 2018.  The annual Sidewalk Days features sales at downtown stores, streetside vendors, community groups, food and entertainment in and around the Greencastle Square.

Newville/Carlisle

The 2018 Newville Lions Club Community Fair will be held on 3 evenings – July 12, July 13, and July 14.  Enjoy good food, games, rides, and entertainment.  Food court opens each evening at 5:30PM.  Free admission every night.  The fair will have their annual Fireworks Show on Friday, July 13 at 10PM.  Tractor pull on Saturday.

The Bluegrass on the Grass Festival is held in Carlisle on July 14. This free event is held on the Academic Quad lawn at Dickinson College and features a variety of music acts, food vendors (from bratwurst to Thai food and ice cream) and non-alcoholic drinks, including smoothies. You can start setting up blankets and lawn chairs at 8AM and the event runs from Noon to 8PM.

Carlisle Chrysler Nationals is this weekend, July 13 – July 15 at Carlisle Fairgrounds, 1000 Bryn Mawr Road.  Features 3,000 vehicles from all eras of the Chrysler brand, including classics, muscle cars and high-performance new models.  Thursday is a set up/load in day for both vendors and those showing cars.

Meadowbrooke Gourds’ Summer Celebration will be held Saturday July 14. Activities include Oops Sale, Paint your Own Birdhouse Workshop ($10), Horse drawn hayrides, Food trucks, Beer, and local band Mid-Life Crisis.  An Oops Sale includes gourds that have been crafted but have slight imperfections. Oops gourds or “seconds” are sold at a discounted price.

This weekend, Hotel Transylvania 3: Summer Vacation and Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom will be showing at Cumberland Drive-In Theatre.  Gates open at 7PM.  First feature begins at approximately 9PM.  Admission: $8 Adults, $4 Children ages 3-12, free for Children Under 3.  Credit cards are accepted.  You may reserve your space here.

The Carlisle Parks and Recreation Department offers a medley of free cultural programs and musical concerts at the Thornwald Amphitheater known as the Summer Artist Series. The Carrol J. Warrell Theater of Arts, an outdoor theater, is host on Sunday evenings, June 3 – August 5, weather permitting.  On Sunday, July 15 is REACH!  View the Facebook Event here.

Chambersburg

The Franklin County Fair will be held July 8-14 at the Chambersburg Rod and Gun Club on Warm Spring Road.  Admission to the fair will be free in 2018, with a $5-per-vehicle parking fee.  $8 ride all night wristbands – all ages can participate.  Zero shock stunt jump, bounce house, obstacle course, super slide, monkey motion extreme air quad pods, dunk tank, Safari Adventure, the hippo chow down.  For a complete schedule of events, visit franklincountyfair.org.

Chick-fil-A Chambersburg is offering a FREE small Hand-spun Milkshake on Saturday, July 14 from 5PM – 7PM.  Chick-fil-A Chambersburg is presenting Simple Joy Saturdays in July. From 5PM – 7PM on each Saturday in July, enjoy a fun added bonus!

ChambersFest, an annual community celebration features a range of events beginning July 14 through July 21.  Restaurant Week is back for this year’s celebration. The Greater Chambersburg Chamber of Commerce will partner with over 20 local restaurants to offer patrons special cuisine, deals and daily prizes.

North Square Farmers Market is open from 8AM – Noon on Saturday morning.  Look for the market tents behind King Street Church.

Scoop-A-Palooza is the all you can eat ice cream festival on July 14, 11AM – 3PM to benefit the Greater Chambersburg Chamber Foundation.  Once you enter the festival you can sample all the ice cream you want from a variety of area shops.  At the Door Pricing:  Adults-$7; Children 12 & Under-$5, Children 3 & Under Free.  Also setup at the event will be a kids’ area with a variety of fun activities.

Second Saturday Movies in the Park are back this summer at Chambers Fort Park.   Coordinated by Downtown Chambersburg Inc. and sponsored by F&M Trust and Summit Health, the FREE family-friendly movie series kicks off in June and continues through September.  Guests are invited to bring snacks, blankets and chairs.  Free kids activities are provided one hour before showtime (at dusk).  July 14 – COCO.

Waynesboro

A special summer showing of Madagascar (PG) at the Waynesboro Theatre is July 14 at 11AM.  Admission is $4 and includes FREE popcorn and soda. Tickets & details: waynesborotheatre.com.

Alexander Hamilton Memorial Free Library will host a Local Authors Festival on Saturday July 14, 11AM-2PM.  Come meet & chat with more than a dozen local authors.  Each author will have a table to display & sell his or her book(s). Author talks take place at 11:15 and 12:15, each author giving a five-minute talk. The rest of the event is devoted to informal mingling, visiting author tables, & sampling refreshments.

Renfrew Museum and Park is hosting an event titled, “A Day in the Life of the Royer Children” on Saturday, July 14 from 11AM to 4PM.  Admission and food will be FREE!  Highlights of the day to include:  A petting zoo from Noon to 3PM; Slim Harrison and the Sunnyland Band from Noon to 4PM;  Free hot dogs, lemonade, cookies & Antietam Dairy ice cream; Demonstrations of children’s chores; Children’s craft stations and activities. Experience how the Royer children lived, worked, and played during the 1800’s.

Dillsburg

The Blueberry Festival at Paulus Orchards on July 14, 7AM – 1PM benefits CURE International.  Come for the all-you-can-eat breakfast and stay through the day for over 30 arts/crafts booths, pick-your-own berries, free food samples, the Jazz Me Band (9:30AM-12:30PM), tractor-pulled wagon rides and more! PlayLand Admission:  $5 per person

Biglerville/Gettysburg

Hollabaugh Farms is hosting a Blueberry Festival on July 14 & 15, Noon – 5PM.  The event is featuring fresh blueberries and samples, homemade blueberry baked goods, blueberry ice cream, special deals on produce, Pick-Your-Own Blueberries, fun kids’ activities, and loads of samples from local vendors.

Pick-your-own blueberries – $2.25 per pound – at Boyer Nurseries & Orchards.  Bring containers to take your harvest home. Cash, check, and all forms of credit cards accepted.  Boyer Nurseries & Orchards also has an evergreen hedge maze you can explore for free.
