Katie’s Place Thrift Shop is having its next monthly sale this week, July 19 – 21 from 8AM – Noon. The store is located at the corner of S. Penn and E. Garfield Streets in Shippensburg. Everything is HALF off!

Saturday, July 21 at 7PM, there will be a Tractor Pull at Shippensburg Fairgrounds. Admission: $10, Children $5 (ages 5-11).

On July 21, the University Grille is having a Gift Card special!  Buy $100 card and get $50 card FREE, Buy $50 card and get $25 card FREE, or Buy $25 card and get $10 card FREE.  Sale from 11AM – 10PM, Saturday July 21 only.  Call in purchases are welcome.

The Cellular Connection (TCC) Verizon stores across the U.S. are inviting local families to bring their school aged children into their stores on Sunday, July 22 for School Rocks Backpack Giveaway. The backpacks are filled with pencils, paper, a pencil box, folders, glue and more!  Backpacks will be given away on a first-come, first-served basis while supplies last from 1PM – 4PM.    Shippensburg’s participating store is located at 201 S. CHAMBERSBURG/FAYETTEVILLE

UPDATE for Saturday evening:  The Carnival, Band, & Fireworks is cancelled.  The 2018 Fayetteville Firemen’s Carnival is going on now through July 21.  Gates & rides will open at 5:30PM every night.   Unlimited rides are $20.   Fireworks will be on Saturday at 10PM (if bad weather is expected for Saturday night, the fireworks will be moved up to Friday).  Entertainment is scheduled every night playing from 7-8PM & 9-10PM.  Carnival grounds are located at 101 W. Main Street in Fayetteville.

Train rides at Norlo Park will continue on Saturday, July 21. The miniature train, complete with a cattle car and caboose, is FREE to ride on Saturdays from 1PM – 4PM! It is open to riders of all ages.  Last Train boards at 3:50PM. Donations are accepted.

The Chambersburg Aquatic Center is hosting an Adult Splash Night Pool Party on Friday July 20, 8PM to 10PM. Guests must be age 18 or over. Live music by Tresa Day. Free to all season pass holders, $5 to get in for others, $3 for Borough residents with ID.

North Square Farmers Market, 50 N. Main Street, is Saturday, July 21, 8AM – 2PM (extended hours for Old Market Day). 

Free concerts at Chambersburg Memorial Park Kiwanis Band Shell continue all Summer long. View the dates HERE.

ChambersFest continues through Saturday, July 21.  Restaurant Week is back for this year’s celebration. The Greater Chambersburg Chamber of Commerce will partner with over 20 local restaurants to offer patrons special cuisine, deals and daily prizes.

The Franklin County Visitors Bureau invites the public to kick off the 1864 weekend with the Civil War Ball on July 20 from 7 to 9:30PM at the Allison-Antrim Museum.  Experience Victorian-era dancing and learn social interactions of the time period in the museum’s restored German Bank Barn taught by the Victorian Dance Ensemble. The dance is open to children 12 years and older and adults who may come in Civil War-era attire, contemporary formal attire or contemporary business attire and no previous dancing experience is required!  Tickets for the dance are $15 a person and $25 per couple.

On Saturday, July 21 is Old Market Day!  The annual street festival runs from 9AM to 4PM.  Downtown Chambersburg will be filled with arts, crafts and food vendors as well as live music, kids’ activities, free inflatable double slide, and more. After Old Market Day is 1864: The Burning. Activities begin at 6PM with history exhibits, vendors, kids’ activities and the final round of a musical competition, A Cappella & Unplugged, followed by the reenactment of the Burning of Chambersburg with an exciting laser light show at dusk.

Enjoy a free concert at St. Paul United Methodist by the St. John’s Summer Singers.  St. Paul United Methodist Church Special Events will be hosting the St. John’s Summer Singers on Sunday, July 22 at 3PM, in the church nave located at 750 Norland Avenue.  The 70-member choir will entertain with a wide selection of sacred, spiritual, secular, and patriotic music.

NEWVILLE/CARLISLE

Upper Frankford Township Fire Co. is having their annual fair July 19, 20, & 21.  Thursday through Saturday, enjoy activities including on-stage live entertainment nightly and Kiddyland & Games for everyone.  Entertainment – Thursday “The North Mountain Ramblers”; Friday “Chris Woodward and Shindiggin” ; Saturday “Laredo.”

Join The Friends of Kings Gap on Friday, July 20 for an outdoor screening of “The Way” starring Martin Sheen. A hiking movie about living a life over choosing one. Pack a picnic and bring your blankets and lawn chairs. Movie starts at 9PM but pre-game events at 6PM.

This week’s Friday through Sunday double-feature at Cumberland Drive-in is “ Hotel Transylvania 3: Summer Vacation” and “ Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom.”  Gates open at 7PM.  First Feature begins at approximately 8:55PM.

The Carlisle Parks and Recreation Department offers a medley of free cultural programs and musical concerts at the Thornwald Amphitheater known as the Summer Artist Series. The Carrol J. Warrell Theater of Arts, an outdoor theater, is host on Sunday evenings, June 3 – August 5, weather permitting.  On Sunday, July 22 is Hot House.  View the Facebook Event here.

BIGLERVILLE

The annual Old-Fashioned CornFest at the Historic Round Barn will take place on Sunday July 22, 2018 from 11:30AM – 3:30PM. You will find all your traditional CornFest favorites, sweet corn roasted in the husk over an apple-wood fire, pulled pork made from a secret family recipe, BBQ Chicken, and delicious peaches grilled to perfection and placed on a mound of ice cream. This annual event will also feature live music by the Back Creek Valley Boys starting at Noon as well as free activities for the children.

HERSHEY

 The Quilt Odyssey event is a quilt show with contests, workshops, lectures, quilt symposium, appraisals, and more.  The Quilt Odyssey will be held July 19-22 at the Hershey Lodge & Convention Center.  Merchant Mall & Exhibits open Thursday through Sunday 10AM – 6PM and Sunday 10AM – 4PM.
