Here’s a list of opportunities to get out and about April 5 – 7, 2019 in South Central PA!
SHIPPENSBURG

All area children are invited to a Children’s Fair on Saturday, April 6 at Shippensburg University. Various carnival games and activities will take place from 10:30AM to 1:30PM in Heiges Field House. FREE admission.  Parental supervision is required for all children in attendance.

There will be an Easter Egg Hunt at the Shippensburg Public Library on April 6 beginning at 12:45PM. There will be 3 different age groups and time slots. The egg hunt will take place outside in the library yard and there will be an open craft in the Community Room.  Bring your camera for a picture with the Easter Bunny.  Eggs will be filled with candy or coupons for the Book Nook. Shippensburg Kids Event Committee presents Easter at the Gazebo on April 6, Noon – 3PM.  Children can participate in games at the King Street Gazebo and win a prize. 

Shippensburg Health Care Center is hosting their first annual Easter Egg Hunt this year on April 6, 10AM – Noon. The event is open to the community with activities for kids up to 10 years old!  Games, crafts & prizes, basket raffle, bake sale and resident lemonade stand.

The Cumberland Valley Hitman Organization is a local semi-pro football team.  Join the CV Hitmen as they take on Delco Raiders at Veterans Stadium on April 6, 7PM.   Free Admission.

WALNUT BOTTOM

On Saturday, April 6, 8AM – 2PM is Trinity Fellowship’s Spring Bloom Craft Show.  Many homemade, handcrafted items of all kinds, extensive breakfast and lunch menu, and bargains from Trinity’s Clothing Closet.

ROXBURY

There is public skating at the Blue Mountain Skating Rink on Friday evenings from 7-9PM. $4 admission and $1 skates. Children under 6 are free and non-skating adults are free as well.  The Blue Mountain Skating Rink is located 1 mile west of Roxbury, PA on Rt 641.

Roxbury Camp’s Kids Trout Derby is Saturday, April 6. Registration starts at 10AM with the Derby from Noon – 3PM. Kids ages 12 and under are invited to fish – prizes will be awarded, and hot dogs and drinks will be provided.

Ridge Church of the Brethren invites you to a fun filled time of roller skating on Saturday, April 6 from 4 to 6PM at Blue Mountain Roller Rink. Ages 18 and under skate for free including skate rental. All others over 18 will have a one dollar rental fee for skates.

CHAMBERSBURG

The Wilson College Veterinary Medical Technology Club will host dog washes from 8AM to 4PM on Saturday and Sunday, April 6 and 7, in the college veterinary building near the main entrance to campus. The dog washes are open to the public.  The cost is $10 for small dogs, $15 for medium dogs, $20 for large dogs and $25 for extra-large or double-coated dogs.  The price includes ear cleaning, nail trim, bath and blow dry—all of which will be performed by VMT Club members.  Owners must present a paper copy of their dog’s rabies vaccination.

Shop gently-used treasures at the Chambersburg Recreation Department’s semi-annual, indoor yard sale on Friday, April 5 and Saturday, April 6 from 8AM – 1PM.  The Chambersburg Recretion Department is located at 235 South Third Street, Chambersburg.

The Cumberland Valley Philatelic Society will hold its Spring Stamp Expo on Saturday April 6, 10AM – 5PM at the Chambersburg Recreation Center, 235 South 3rd St, Chambersburg. The Expo is free and open to the public.

Step back 300 years and explore the earliest settlements of Franklin with the Franklin County Visitors Bureau Spring Into History Frontier & Colonial Tour on April 6, 9AM to 4PM. Participants will meet at the Franklin County 11/30 Visitors Center to begin the tour with a brief overview of early Franklin County and early America. The tour takes in sites of frontier settlement and raids by the native tribes. Total cost of the tour (lunch included) is $50.

Shop the Eggsplosion Craft & Vendor event on Saturday, April 6 at the Kauffman Community Center in Chambersburg. Doors open at 9AM.  Breakfast and lunch will be available. Craft activities will be available for children as well as an Easter Egg Hunt (walking to 12 years) at 12:30PM. All children participating in the hunt must be registered by 11:30AM. The Easter Bunny will be available for a free photo shoot from 11AM to 1PM. Plus, door prizes all day long.

A Spring Craft and Vendor event to support the Salvation Army Youth will be April 6, 10AM – 2PM.  Bring your children for $5 photos with the Easter Bunny.  The event is at 159 Lincoln Way West, Chambersburg.

Kitefest is a free family event sponsored by the Chambersburg Hispanic American Center on Saturday, April 6.  Come fly a kite from Noon – 4PM at Nellie & T.K. Nitterhouse Memorial Park, 375 Washington Street.  Free kite to the first 25 families.  Food for sale at the Concession Stand.

Grab your friends & family and head to Laser Bowling on Sunday evenings from 4-8PM at Nellie Fox Bowl.

FAYETTEVILLE

Fayetteville Church of God is hosting an Easter Egg Hunt on Saturday, April 6, 10 AM.  There will be three age group 0-4, 5-8, and 9 and up. Lots of Prizes for each group.  The church is located at 5276 Treher Road, Fayetteville.

GREENCASTLE

Two Times Around Consignments is having its Spring/Summer Children’s & Maternity Consignment event on April 4-6.  The sale is at Blue Heron Events, 207 S Washington Street, Greencastle.  Shop clothing, maternity, Easter outfits, strollers, baby equipment, toys, books and more.

HERSHEY

The AACA Museum, 161 Museum Drive will be having an indoor Egg Hunt on Sunday, April 7, 11AM–1PM.  FREE for children (up to age 12) with a paid regular admission.  Tickets must be purchased at the door to receive this special ticket rate. When you arrive, the ticket counter staff will provide you with a sheet of clues which you’ll use to find the hidden egg baskets throughout the Museum as you explore the galleries.  Be sure to see the Easter Bunny too.  Hot dogs and popcorn, and pink lemonade while supplies last.
