2020 Fourth of July Fireworks

The Fourth of July will be a little different this year, with many towns canceling festivities due to the coronavirus. Here’s a list of fireworks shows that are still happening.

SHIPPENSBURG

Shippensburg will have fireworks at Veterans Stadium on July 4, 2020, at approximately 9:30 PM. The rain date is July 5. Each year the Shippensburg Community Parks and Recreation Authority (SCPRA) coordinates the town’s independence day celebration.  Generous donations from local businesses and community members allowed this year’s display to continue despite COVID-19. SCPRA will live stream the fireworks as well. Seating at Veterans Stadium will be open to the first 250 people only. The main gate at Veterans stadium will open at 8 PM.

MONT ALTO

Mont Alto Volunteer Fire Department is having a July 4th celebration and fireworks display at their fairgrounds located at 517 S. Main St. in Mont Alto.  Luke Lucas will perform at 3 PM, 5:30 PM, and 8 PM. Also, there will be $.25 bingo, games of chance, and carnival food. The kitchen will open at 3 PM. The fireworks will be at 9:30 PM.

WAYNESBORO

Waynesboro will have fireworks on the Fourth of July at dusk. The fireworks will also be live-streamed. The festivities will begin at 7 PM with live music from a stage across from the Waynesboro Hospital.  Hope For Waynesboro is coordinating the event with the financial assistance of many local businesses, churches, and community members.

GETTYSBURG

Destination Gettysburg and Gettysburg Area Recreation Authority have partnered to host this year’s Gettysburg community fireworks on July 4. This year’s fireworks show will take place at the Gettysburg Recreation Park (545 Long Lane,Gettysburg, PA 17325). Gates open at 7 PM, and the fireworks show will begin at 9:20 PM. Please bring a lawn chair or blanket. Viewing of the fireworks is free. Onsite parking will be available for a fee of $2 per car. Parking proceeds will be donated to the Rotary Club of Gettysburg.  You may bring your own food and drinks. Smoking and alcohol are strictly prohibited.

HARRISBURG

On Saturday, July 4, 2020, the City of Harrisburg will host food trucks & fireworks on City Island. Food trucks will have ample space for line formation with marks 6-ft apart to ensure attendees practice social distancing while waiting in line. Attendees are encouraged to take their food home or spread out along the parks with chairs and blankets from home. There will also be online performances from local bands and virtual kids activities. Fireworks will be held at 9:15 PM.

HAGERSTOWN, MD

Hagerstown’s annual Fireworks at Fairgrounds Park event will take place at approximately 9:30 PM on Saturday, July 4. Due to COVID-19 health and safety concerns, this year’s event will not include food and drink vendors or supplementary entertainment. The fireworks display is visible from many locations outside the park.
