This October, you can celebrate Halloween with these fun, family-friendly events!

Trick or Treat

As always, participation in Trick or Treating is entirely up to the preference of individual families.  Residents who choose to receive trick or treaters should turn on your porch or outside light.

SHIPPENSBURG BORO: Trick or Treat – Saturday, October 31, from 6 PM to 8 PM.

NEWBURG BORO:  Trick or Treat – Saturday, October 31, from 6 PM to 8 PM.

NEWVILLE BORO: Trick or Treat – Thursday, October 29, from 6 PM to 8 PM. (Newville Boro revised the date on 9/29; originally it was advertised as 10/31 on their Facebook Page and website.)

CARLISLE BORO: Trick or Treat – Thursday, October 29, from 6 PM to 8 PM.

MECHANICSBURG BORO: Trick or Treat – Thursday, October 29, from 6 PM to 8 PM.

MECHANICSBURG (Hampden Township, Lower Allen Township, Silver Spring Township, Upper Allen Township): Trick or Treat – Saturday, October 31, from 6 PM to 8 PM (New Rescheduled Date).

CHAMBERSBURG BORO: Trick or Treat – Saturday, October 31, from 6 PM to 8 PM.

Thursday, Oct. 22, 2020

Stay safe, and have fun with a curbside Trick-or-Treat event! Families are invited to register for drive-through curbside trick-or-treating at their local Lowe’s on October 22 and October 29 from 6 – 7 PM. Beginning Saturday, October 10, families can visit Lowes.com/DIY to reserve a spot. Registered guests can drive up to receive candy and a small pumpkin at no cost to take home. Costumes are encouraged but are not required to attend.  Spaces are limited, so be sure to register as soon as possible!

Saturday, Oct. 24, 2020

Dreamer’s Hollow is hosting a Trick or Treat Trail in Carlisle on Saturday, October 24, from 3-5 PM.  The event will include treats, character meet & greets, and photo ops. Over 15 characters will be at this event, princesses, superheroes, toy story pals and other fairy tale friends!  Come in costume and travel the trail to each station to collect candy, treats, and snap photos with the characters! You may also purchase an autograph book on-site to collect character signatures for a magical memory keepsake. This is a community event that is open to the public. Tickets are $5 per child. Go HERE for tickets.  The Trick or Trail takes place at SummerBridge at RockLedge, 1 Palms Court, Carlisle, PA. Follow the balloons.

 

Monday, Oct. 26, 2020

The Roxbury Lions Club, 13978 Cumberland Highway, will host a Halloween Party from 5:30 PM to 7:30 PM on Monday, October 26.  The party will feature costume contests for children in various age groups — 0-3, 4-6, 7-9 and 10-16, a decorated pumpkin contest (please bring your decorated pumpkins), Trunk or Treat, with prizes given to the top two vehicles; games and candy for the children, whoopie pies and cotton candy, a hay maze, and a DJ.

Treats no Tricks at Shippensburg University will be held Monday, October 26, at Fairchild Baseball Field from 5 PM -6:30 PM. This event is free and open to the community!  Stop by with your children for grab and go activities and treat bags.  Masks are required. Please wear a cloth mask in addition to your Halloween costume mask.  Parking for the event is lot C-6. View the campus map Here.  The rain date for the event is October 27.

 

Wednesday, October 28, 2020

There will be a drive-through Trunk or Treat at Shippensburg Area Senior High School (201 Eberly Drive) on Wednesday, October 28, from 5:30 PM to 6:30 PM.  Masks are required.  This event is sponsored by SASHS Clubs and Organizations.

 

Stoner’s Dairy Farm and Corn Maze is offering Trick or Treat in the Corn Maze on Wednesday, October 28, from 6 PM to 8 PM. A complimentary candy bag will be available to children (10 years old and under) as they wander the maze to collect their loot. The event is limited to the first 300 children, or while supplies last. Admission is free. Barrel Train Rides $2. Stoner’s Dairy is a short drive off I-81 at 7678 Oellig Road in Mercersburg. (Rain date: 10/29)

Marion First United Methodist Church is hosting a community Trunk or Treat on Thursday, October 29, from 6 PM to 8 PM.  The event will be outdoors in the church parking lot at 94 Colorado Street, Marion, PA.

Newville First Church of God (475 Shippensburg Road) is hosting a Drive-Thru Trunk or Treat on October 29, 6 – 8 PM.  Dress up the kids and get lots of candy! Drive by the trunks and get your goodies at the end.

Drive-thru H&H Chevrolet’s service department at 730 E King Street, Shippensburg, for a safe trick-or-treat for you and your children! Come in costume between 1 PM and 3 PM.  This is a rain or shine event.

On October 31, from 6 PM to 8 PM come enjoy a fun, safe time for the whole family, outdoors, in the parking lot of First Assembly of God of Shippensburg (420 Baltimore Road, Shippensburg).  Activities include trunk or treat, fire pit, and refreshments.  Find the Facebook Event, HERE.

In Chambersburg, the Wayne Avenue Plaza is holding a Trick or Treat event on Saturday, October 31, from 10 AM to 5 PM. All participating stores will have a pumpkin on their door.

On October 31, Bethel AG Church (400 Miller Street, Chambersburg) will be hosting a trunk or treat event from 6 PM to 8 PM.  Find the Facebook Event, HERE.

Monday, November 2, 2020

Franklin County First Responders and Law Enforcement are hosting a Trunk or Treat on Monday, November 2 at the Chambersburg Mall Parking Lot. The event runs from 6 to 8:30 PM.  COVID-19 precautions will be in place, including masks.


Area Attractions

HERSHEYPARK IN THE DARK:  Hersheypark in the Dark begins on October 2 and continues on select dates through November 1. Attendance includes access to Hersheypark’s rides, including several coasters that will be operating in special nighttime conditions. Enjoy 13 sweet stops on the Trick Or Treat Trail winding from Hershey’s Chocolate World to The Boardwalk At Hersheypark. Children 12 and younger are invited to visit each stop once.

HERSHEY GARDEN’S PUMPKIN GLOW: Pumpkin Glow is October 24, 25, 31, and November 1 from 9 AM to 5 PM. With new extended hours, guests can enjoy Halloween-themed activities in a safe environment with social distancing in mind. This year’s Pumpkin Glow is during the daytime and features a new “glowhouse” with family-friendly jack-o-lanterns, scarecrows, and other glowing Halloween fun. Families can enjoy more than 100 carved and painted pumpkins, a scavenger hunt, performances in the amphitheater, food trucks, puppet shows, and more! Kids will receive a pre-filled bag of delicious Hershey candy, so put on your Halloween costume and join the fun! The indoor Butterfly Atrium will be open during Pumpkin Glow.

DUTCH WONDERLAND:  Due to uncertainties regarding COVID-19, Dutch Wonderland will not be offering the Happy Hauntings event for the 2020 Season.
