Christmas Light Displays in Shippensburg, Newville, Chambersburg, & Beyond!

NOTE:  This is a 2020 Article but is again making its rounds on social media.  We have updated a few of the light displays with 2021 information. 

Here is a list of Christmas light displays in Shippensburg, Newville, Chambersburg, & Beyond. Old favorites are returning, some with upgrades and a few new drive-through displays!

Chestnut Drive Christmas Lights (Shippensburg) – Updated for 2021

The England family on Chestnut Drive is again bringing seasonal sparkle to the Shippensburg area this holiday season.  The display at 247 Chestnut Drive in Shippensburg features thousands of lights and decorations, including a projector. Tune into 99.1 FM to listen to the music that corresponds to the show.  Weather permitting, the show starts at 5:15 pm daily and runs to 10 pm Sunday through Thursday and 11 pm on Friday and Saturday. Every other song is choreographed.  As you are looking at the lights, please be courteous of the other houses in the neighborhood.

 


Chestnut Grove Winter Wilderness (Shippensburg) – Updated for 2021

Celebrate the magic of the holiday season and drive-by Chestnut Grove Winter Wilderness this year. The Winter Light Show at 45 Chestnut Grove Road, Shippensburg, is open with 55,000 lights. It’s a blue glow you can’t miss! Hours are Sunday – Thursday, 6 pm to 10 pm, and Friday – Saturday, 6 pm to 11 pm. Enjoy the display from your vehicle (do not walk through the show).   Tune your radio to 91.9 FM. Dave’s Light Show (Newville) – 2021 Update:  This Light Show is now known as Twinkling Hill Lights, updated information will be coming soon.

Dave’s light shows are now up and running! Visitors enter the light show at 529 Doubling Gap Road (2.3 miles north of the traffic light in Newville – Route 233) and drive through to watch three synchronized light shows. Tune your radio as posted to 98.1, 88.1, and 95.9.  Take your time and progress through the driveway and enjoy the songs looping and lighting up the night sky! You will exit onto Mohawk Road. Dave’s Light Show runs daily from 6 pm and 11 pm through January 3, 2021. See more pictures here.


Mellott Holiday Light Show (Newville) – 2021 Status:  Unconfirmed

The Mellott Holiday Light Show is up and running now through December 31, 2020. The beautifully decorated home with animated lights set to music is at the corner of West Big Spring Avenue and Walnut Street in Newville.   The show consists of 10,000 lights and ten projectors, all choreographed to music. Tune your radio to 88.1.  The lights are on from 5:30 pm to 9 pm.


Mount Asbury Christmas Light Show (Newville) – Updated for 2021

Mount Asbury Christmas Light Show opens Friday, November 26, 2021.  This is the second year for the drive-through trail that tells the Nativity Story.  The rustic trail is both paved and unpaved paths for 3/4 of a mile and begins at the second entrance. There is an 8.5 ft. height restriction on vehicles, and no motorcycles, RV’s, large vans, buses, or low riding cars are permitted due to the path.  The trail is lit on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays from 6 pm to 9 pm, November 26 through December 19.  The suggested donation is $10 per vehicle and benefits the Susquehanna Conference Camp and Retreat Ministry.  Mount Asbury Retreat Center is located at 1310 Centerville Road in Newville (three miles south of I-81, exit 37). Holiday Lights Drive Through (Shippensburg) – Updated for 2021

Volvo Construction Equipment (Volvo CE) is lighting up again this year! On December 9 – 12, 2021, see construction equipment in a new light at the Volvo CE Holiday Lights Drive Through from 5:30 pm – 8:30 pm.  Cars will travel down Volvo Way, turn around in the parking area, and come back out Volvo Way as both sides of the roadway will have light displays.  Santa and Mrs. Claus will be making nightly appearances.  Volvo CE is located at 304 Volvo Way in Shippensburg.

 


Dillsburg Lights (Dillsburg) – 2021 Update:  No animated light show.

Dillsburg Lights by the Wertzes features 20,000 lights animated to Christmas songs. The light show is located at 25 Cold Springs Road in Dillsburg. Music can be heard on your car radio at 88.9 FM. There’s no charge to watch the lights, but please be considerate of the neighboring homes. The light display runs Thanksgiving through New Year’s Eve and runs nightly from 6 pm through 10 pm (weather permitting).


Bell Avenue Christmas Lights (Chambersburg)

Bell Avenue Lights have been delighting passersby for over ten years!  Bell Avenue Christmas Lights, located near Sollenberger Road and Bell Avenue in Chambersburg, features a light show with thousands of LED lights. The lights turn on, off, and change color in perfect time to the music! Tune to 106.5FM to enjoy the show and holiday music when you arrive. The lights are on Sunday – Thursday from 5:30 pm – 9:30 pm and Friday – Saturday from 5:30 pm – 10:30 pm. The show may not run during bad weather.

Directions:

  1. Go west from Chambersburg on Route 30, and turn right on Sollenberger Road at the traffic light (Sollenberger Rd is just after Sheetz and before Route 30 traffic becomes two-way).
  2. Go exactly two miles and then turn right onto Bell Avenue just before the entrance to Majestic Ridge.
  3. Show Address: 1716 Bell Ave, Chambersburg.

Please do not block the neighbors’ driveways or use them to turn around. Bell Avenue is a small circle, so instead of turning around, go straight by the house and around the block.  More information can be found on their website HERE. Visit Bell Avenue Lights on Facebook for the latest updates. 


Lights Music Action Show (Chambersburg)

The first-ever Lights Music Action show at 1617 Hawthorne Lane in Chambersburg (off Falling Spring Road) features thousands of lights set to music. The show is up and running now and will continue through January 2, 2021. Hours are Sunday – Thursday 4:30 pm-9:00 pm and Friday – Saturday 4:30 pm-10:00 pm.  Tune into 87.7 FM to listen to the music that corresponds to the show.

About the Lights Music Action Show: This is my first year putting on a light show. I have spent just over a month planning and creating this Christmas light just to spread Christmas cheer. The show is comprised of many computer programs working together to blink, shimmer, and shine the lights to holiday classics as well as family favorites. Kennedy Family Lights (Chambersburg) – 2021 Status:  Unconfirmed

Enjoy a display of lights at the Kennedy Home located at 1054 Lincoln Way West in Chambersburg. You can listen to Christmas music on 105.1 FM radio. Lights are on from 5 pm to 11 pm daily.


Country Creek Trail of Lights (Chambersburg) – Updated for 2021

Christmas at Country Creek featuring Trail of Lights is now open at Country Creek Produce Farm. The Trail of Lights is outdoors and features approximately seventy-five lit displays spanning many acres of farmland. The self-guided walking trail is now open on weekends through January 2, 2022. Hours are Friday, Saturday, and Sunday from 4:30 pm to 9:30 pm. Additional weekday dates are December 20 – December 23 and December 27 – 30. The trail of lights is closed on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day.  Admission is $10 per person (ages two and under are free).

Other activities included in admission are jump pads, mountain slides, and a petting zoo. In addition, there is a greenhouse with fresh wreaths, swags, kissing balls, decor, and homemade treats, including baked goodies and apple cider donuts.  There is a concession stand too! Eck Family Lights (Mont Alto)- 2o21 Status:  Unconfirmed

Jim and Shelva Eck of Mont Alto have approximately 30,000 Christmas lights on display. This year’s display is drive by only. To see the lights at their best:

  1. Take Route 997 to the Mont Alto Fire Hall.
  2. Turn on to Walnut Street and go all the way to the end until you see a No Outlet sign.
  3. Turn left onto Locust Street and go to the stop sign.
  4. Turn left and then make an immediate right onto Jones avenue. 

Hours for the lights are dark until 9 pm.


2020 Heritage Christmas Light It Up (Greencastle)

Sixteen homes and one business in the Greencastle-Antrim area have officially registered for the 2020 Heritage Christmas Light It Up exterior home decorating contest. Sponsored by Antrim Insurance Agency and organized by the Greencastle-Antrim Chamber of Commerce, the Light It Up Contest raises funds, at $1 per vote, donated to the Greencastle-Antrim Food Pantry.

The 2020 Light It Up contestants are The Harne home at 220 E. Baltimore St., The Valenca home at 41 N. Allison St., The Ziebarth home at 210 N. Allison St., The Stike home at 97 Homestead Drive, The Todd home at 7348 Kuhn Road, The Reynolds home at 4124 Hill Road, The Porterfield home at 12884 Grant Shook Road, The Witmer home at 2951 E. Weaver Road, The Moreland home at 422 Catherine St., The Hawkins home at 341 W. Baltimore St., The Doubleday home at 431 W. Baltimore St., Apt. B., The PMI office 14 S. Carlisle St., The Atherton home at 52 E. Franklin St., The Dixon home at 710 S. Allison St., The Wilson home at 13218 Gearhart Road, The Helman/Vulgamo home at 14083 Ridge Road, and The Peters home at 908 Redwood Drive.

The public is encouraged to judge the homes according to their impression of the most colorful, the brightest, classiest, silliest, or a general favorite. A contribution of $1 per vote can be entered online at greencastlepachamber.org/light-it-up-voting/ or dropped off or mailed to the Greencastle-Antrim Chamber of Commerce, 217 E. Baltimore St., Greencastle, 17225 by December 20.

Hershey Sweet Lights

Hershey Sweet Lights is a two-mile wooded trail that allows visitors to view about 2 million lights on nearly 600 illuminated, animated displays while driving through in their vehicles. Visitors listen to holiday music synchronized to the lights show via a customized radio broadcast inside their cars. Hershey Sweet Lights opens on November 20 and will remain open through January 3. From Hersheypark Drive, go north on Sand Beach Road for approximately 1/2 mile. Follow signs to Boathouse Road to Sweet Lights entrance.


Christmas Spirit Light Show (Lancaster)

This year create a new holiday tradition at the Christmas Spirit Light Show at Clipper Magazine Stadium, 650 North Prince Street, Lancaster, PA 17603. The Christmas Spirit Light Show is a drive-thru Christmas light display featuring hundreds of thousands of color-changing lights, all-dancing in sequence with Christmas music. Journey the mile-long track with tunnels, trees, and more now through December 31. Drive-through light shows are December 3-6, December 8-13, and December 15-31. Hours are Sunday-Thursday, 5:30–9:30 pm, and Friday-Saturday, 5:30–10:30 pm. $20 per vehicle with up to eight passengers. $30 for vehicles with nine or more passengers. A season pass (good for up to four drivers) is $65. A portion of the profits is donated to Clare House.
