Shippensburg/Orrstown

Book Sale – April 23 & 24:  The Book Nook is a used book store with great bargains. It is located adjacent to the Shippensburg Public Library parking lot off West King Street.  On April 23 & 24, shop the sale from 9 AM to 2 PM!  Inside everything is Buy One Get One Free.  Outside find books for $.10 and $.25.

ShipShape Day – April 24:  ShipShape Day will occur from 8:30 AM to Noon, Saturday, April 24, in the Borough of Shippensburg.  Volunteers will be cleaning up the downtown arearegister online or at the Shippensburg Firefighters Activity Center.

Ship Sales – April 23 & 24:  Enjoy two days of shopping in Downtown Shippensburg!  The Ship Sales Event will feature extra savings, specials, and sales from our downtown businesses.  See the participating businesses here.

 

Children’s Fishing Derby – April 24:  Shippensburg Fly Fishing Club hosts their 2021 Children’s Fishing Derby on April 24 from 8 AM-Noon at Rowe Run Creek in Orrstown.  If using a GPS, enter 9713 Rowe Run Road, Shippensburg, PA 17257.  Registration starts at 7 AM.  All children ages 3 – 12 are welcome to participate in this free event.  Donations are accepted.  Prizes will be awarded for tagged fish caught and turned in before noon.  Food and refreshments will be available for purchase.  Restrooms will be available too.

The SHAPE Gallery “Ele-Mental Expressions” Opens – April 23:  This exhibition of artwork is a recognition of Mental Health Month and how individuals with mental illness use art to aid their healing of this disease. Kathy Coy, the Mayor of Shippensburg will be present to make a Proclamation of May as Mental Health Month for the Shippensburg Area, beginning at 6:30 PM. Following Mayor Coy’s presentation, some of the artists will share their stories and how art has helped them with their healing.  The exhibit opens on Friday, April 23, and will be open through May 29.  The SHAPE Gallery is at 19 E King St.  The opening reception will be held from 6 PM to 8 PM on April 23.  SHAPE Gallery hours: Wednesdays through Fridays 5 PM -8 PM, Saturdays 10 AM to 4 PM. SHAPE Gallery’s openings and exhibits are always free and open to the public.

Lurgan Greenhouse, 8126 Oakdale Rd, Orrstown, is open year-round. Springtime hours are weekdays, 8 AM to 6 PM and Saturday, 8 AM to 5 PM. Closed Sundays. Cash or Check only!  Homemade baked goods will be sold this weekend. Chicken BBQ will be available on five Saturdays, April 24, May 1, May 8, May 15, and May 22, 2021.

Pleasant Hall

Smith’s Chicken BBQ (drive-through) will be at Pleasant Hall Fire Company on Sunday, April 25 from 11 AM – 2 PM.  No tickets needed.  Pies will be available too.

Roxbury

Roller Skating – April 23:  There is public skating at the Blue Mountain Skating Rink on Friday evenings from 7-9 PM. $4 admission and $1 skates. Children under 6 are free and non-skating adults are free as well.  On April 23 all teachers and their families will be welcome to skate for free.  The Blue Mountain Skating Rink is located 1 mile west of Roxbury, PA, on Rt 641.

Newville/Carlisle

Tractor Pull – April 24:  The Cumberland Valley Tractor Pullers Association plans an exciting year of tractor and truck pulling year! The 2021 Pull season will kick off on April 24, 6:30 PM.  Admission is $10 for adults with children 12 and under free.  Concession Stand available.  The Pulls are held at the Newville Lions Fairgrounds on Route 533.

Spring Carlisle:  April 21 – 25:   Spring Carlisle is one of the largest automotive flea markets in the world and one of the best opportunities to get your hands on all things automotive. Accompanied by the massive automotive flea market and car corral, the Manufacturers Midway features the latest and greatest products & services. Across the street is the Carlisle Auctions, Spring Carlisle Collector Car Auction from April 22-23, 2021.

Drive-In Theatre – April 23 and April 24:  The Cumberland Drive-In Theatre is now open on weekends.  Admission: $10 Adults, $4 Children ages 3-12, free for Children Under 3. The Cumberland Drive-in Theatre is located in Newville, just off Interstate 81 at 3290 Ritner Highway.  Showing April 23 & 24- Mortal Kombat/Monster Hunter

Chambersburg

Fabric Fair – April 22, 23, and 24:  The Salvation Army Women’s Auxiliary will host its 29th annual fabric fair at the Chambersburg Mall (enter at Corridor A) on two weekends – April 15-17 and April 22-24.  In past years, the sale included all types of fabric off the bolt, by the piece, or by the bag; quilting supplies; sewing machines, sewing notions, patterns, and “how-to” books; knitting/crocheting yarn and supplies; needlework supplies; craft items; dolls and accessories; linens, window treatments and so much more.

Black Rose Antiques & Collectibles-April 23 – 25:  Join Black Rose at the Chambersburg Mall for “Happy Earth Day” Weekend this Friday 10 AM – 7 PM, Saturday 10 AM – 7 PM & Sunday 10 AM – 5 PM. You will find many sales throughout the store.   Flynn’s Fine Design will have a vintage photo booth on Saturday and Sunday. Also, live entertainment by Zach King on Sunday Noon – 2 PM.

Cumberland Valley Antique Engine & Machinery’s Spring Fling event – April 23, 24, and 25:   The Spring Fling offers fun for the entire family, including a daily tractor parade, tractor pulls, toy show, an operating blacksmith shop, and an indoor & outdoor flea market. The kitchen opens at 7 AM serving hot breakfast and drinks. Lunch/Dinner is served starting at 10:30 AM. Chicken BBQ, hamburgers, hot dogs, steamers, soup, steamed sweet potatoes, steamed baked potatoes, homemade pie, and ice cream. The event is located at 1501 Criders Church Road, Chambersburg, PA.

Teens & Greens – Franklin County CareerTech’s greenhouse is now open.  The student-operated greenhouse is located at 3015 Molly Pitcher Highway, Chambersburg, PA, and offers various annuals, vegetables, herbs, and hanging baskets.  Teens and Greens is open Monday through Wednesday from 9 AM to 3 PM; Thursday and Friday from 9 AM to 5 PM; and Saturday from 9 AM to 1 PM.  For more information, go to their website here.

Waynesboro

Food Stroll – April 24:  Head to Downtown Waynesboro for the third annual Food Stroll on April 24 starting at Main Street Park. Taste amazing samples from Waynesboro’s unique downtown restaurants and sweet shops! The stroll part runs from 4 to 7 PM while Bobby D and the Truckstop Burritos will be rocking Main Street Park from 7 PM to 9 PM. Tickets cost $25 and include samples at some of your favorite downtown stops. Proceeds support Mainstreet’s downtown revitalization efforts.

Cruise-In – April 23:  There is a Spring Cruise-In (DJ and Food) on April 23 from 5 PM – 8 PM at 7575 Mentzer Gap Road, Waynesboro, at Heritage Park.

Biglerville/Gettysburg

The Historic Round Barn & Farm Market Opens – April 23: The opening day for the Historic Round Barn & Farm Market is Friday, April 23.  It will stay open 7 days a week from 9 AM – 5 PM.

The Land of Little Horses Park – April 23, 24, and 25:  The Land of Little Horses Park is open on weekends.   You will find miniature horses at Land of Little Horses (some roaming the park), ponies, horses, a camel, alpacas, goats, peacocks, pigs, and more! The arena show, The Mane Event, features performing animals.  Land of Little Horses Farm Park is located at 125 Glenwood Dr, Gettysburg.

Harrisburg

Wetlands Festival – April 24:  Explore Wildwood Park’s treasured wetlands with a day of free, fun, and educational activities on Saturday, April 24 from 10 AM to 4 PM.  The Wetlands Festival will feature “Reptiles” & “Birds of Prey” with Refreshing Mountain, live Music with Ray Owen & Mark Derose, wildlife up close, guided walks, kids nature activities & crafts, environmental exhibits, Art In The Wild trail installations, and hot eats & treats.  Olewine Nature Center, Wildwood Park is located at 100 Wildwood Way, Harrisburg, PA 17110.

Hershey

Hershey Park’s Springtime in the Park – April 24 and 25:  Springtime In The Park is open on weekends during April. The spring season opening occurs over four weekends through the end of April, with over 40 rides open at the park.
