Oktoberfest & King Street Stroll

Downtown Organizations Investing Together (DOIT) is hosting Oktoberfest and a King Street Stroll on October 1. 

Oktoberfest will take place from 1 PM to 6 PM at The Fora, the fenced lot between University Grill/Clarion Hotel and Advantage Chem Dry. The Shippensburg Town Band will perform various Oktoberfest songs and switch gears for their second set as a swing band.

  • 1:30 PM to 3:30 PM – German Band
  • 4:30 PM to 6 PM – Swing Band

German and Domestic beverages will be for sale along with nonalcoholic drinks. In addition, Redemption BBQ will provide food. Christ United Methodist Church will provide crafts for the children. 

During the King Street Stroll from 1 PM to 4 PM, enjoy walking from business to business, supporting the downtown community and Pennsylvania Wineries, Distilleries, and Breweries. Participants can purchase armbands allowing three tastings per location. Armbands (must be 21 years or older) are $20 on presale or $30 same day. All sales are final as this is a rain or shine event. Dash for the Splash

The Friends Of Memorial Park Pool will hold the first annual Dash for the Splash on Saturday, October 1, at 2 PM. Dash for the Splash is a one-mile walk, jog or run in Downtown Shippensburg on King Street to raise funds to build a new community pool. There will be three different races. The first will be a fun, casual walk or run, the second will be a race for medals, and the third will be the elite race for cash. Race day registration and bib pickup will begin at 1 PM at the Shippensburg Gazebo, 131 W King St, Shippensburg. Registration is now open at https://cvraceseries.us/TimberHillTimingEvents.php


Burd Street Carnival

The Burd Street Carnival will be held from September 29 through October 2, 2022, in Shippensburg at the West Burd Street Public Parking lot beside the police station. The Fall Carnival is a fundraiser for the Friends of the Memorial Park Pool (FMPP), a 501c3 organization currently raising money to build a new community pool in Shippensburg. 

Snyder’s Attractions provides rides, games, and food. There will be an ATM on-site, but ride ticket sales and most food stands will accept cards. Pay one price will be available daily for $22 per person. Regular tickets are $1.25 each, $20 for 20, or $38 for 40. Rides will take two or more tickets. As always, each ride has a specific height restriction.

  • Friday, September 30, 6 PM to 10 PM
  • Saturday, October 1, 2 PM to 10 PM
  • Sunday, October 2, 2 PM to 6 PM

Craft Show at First Assembly of God

The Craft Fair scheduled for this Saturday, October 1 has been cancelled due to remnants of Ian scheduled to arrive.

First Assembly of God Shippensburg will host a Fall Craft Fair on Saturday, October 1, from 8 AM to 2 PM. The event will be set up rain or shine in the church parking lot at 420 Baltimore Road, Shippensburg. The vendor deadline is September 24. Please email bethlinn@ymail.com for details.
