It’s Fair time! Carnivals, fairs, and festivals are coming up around South Central PA. Make plans to attend some of the fairs and festivals in Shippensburg, Carlisle, Chambersburg, and Beyond!


JUNE 2023
Foundry Day Arts & Crafts Festival | June 3, 2023 | BOILING SPRINGS

The Foundry Day Arts & Crafts Festival is a juried art and crafts festival held on the first Saturday of June next to the Children’s Lake in Boiling Springs.  The festival runs from 9 AM to 4 PM and features the original works of 100 fine artists and craftsmen, music, entertainment, food, and more. Food concessions will be along Third Street. Admission is free.  Rain or shine.  Free parking and shuttles from the Boiling Springs high school parking lot.


Jump into Summer BGCCS Fest June 3, 2023 | SHIPPENSBURG

Jump into Summer at the Boys and Girls Club of Chambersburg and Shippensburg Fest on Saturday, June 3, at Shippensburg Memorial. The event from 10 am – 1 pm includes Bounce Houses ($5 admission), free activities for kids, candy drop, live music by Evan Crider and Nik Wiesniewski, a Chicken BBQ by CM Pig Out ($15/meal), and more.


Fayetteville Fireman’s Carnival | June 1-10, 2023 | FAYETTEVILLE

The 2023 Fayetteville Firemen’s Carnival will be held June 1 – 10 at the carnival grounds at 101 W. Main Street in Fayetteville! Gates open at 5 PM every night. There is free parking and free admission. The whole family will enjoy ten nights of rides, games, food trucks, live entertainment, and the fire company’s food stand. In addition, the Fayetteville Volunteer Fire Department will be offering their famous homemade Chicken Corn Soup and Ham & Bean Soup. Fireworks will be on June 10 at dark (the rain date is June 9).

 Strawberry Festival | June 3 & 4, 2023 | BIGLERVILLE

Hollabaugh Bros., Inc. Fruit Farm & Market has their Strawberry Festival on Saturday, June 3, and Sunday, June 4, from Noon to 4:30 PM. There will be live music, Banjo’s BBQ food truck, wagon rides, lawn games, and strawberry everything!  Fresh Strawberry Sundaes, Strawberry Pies, Strawberries n’ Shortcake, a free Strawberry craft, and a scavenger hunt for kids. Saturday and Sunday, listen to Paul Zavinsky play various blues, country, and folk. Hollabaugh Bros., Inc. is located just outside Biglerville at 545 Carlisle Road.


Marion Festivals | June 3, 10, 17, 24, 2023 | MARION

The 2023 Marion Festivals, sponsored by the Marion Athletic Association, Marion Town Committee, and Marion Volunteer Fire Company, will be held on four Saturdays in June. On June 3, June 10, June 17, and June 24, festivalgoers can enjoy good food, games, and entertainment on the Marion Festival Grounds. The kitchen will open at 4:30 PM. There is no charge to park.

West Pennsboro Volunteer Fire Co. Annual Fair & Festival | June 8, 9, 10, 2023 | PLAINFIELD

The West Pennsboro Volunteer Fire Co. Fair & Festival is on three nights, June 8-10.  Plenty of homemade food, fun, and music!  The fair starts at 4 PM nightly and is located at the fire company’s station, 20 Park Road in Plainfield. Stay tuned for updates.


Heritage Day | June 10, 2023 | CARLISLE

Celebrate the history and heritage of Kings Gap on Saturday, June 10, from 11 AM – 5 PM. Participants will step back in time and experience life around the time the Mansion was built….the 1920s.  There is free admission. Heritage Day features:  Blacksmith Demos (Drunken Smithy), Historic Games, Kid’s Craft, Historical Dress & Photo Station (Cumberland County Historical Society), Mansion & Carriage House Tours, History Scavenger Hunts, Special Mansion History Exhibits, Live Music from Shippensburg Swing Band, Ice Cream Making & Tasting, Horse-Drawn Wagon Rides ($5/per family), and Horse-Drawn Carriage Rides ($5/per person). Carriage and wagon rides are weather-dependent. Kings Gap Environmental Education Center is located at 500 Kings Gap Rd., Carlisle, PA 17015-9306.

 

 

 


Jubilee Day | June 15, 2023 | MECHANICSBURG

Jubilee Day, a one-day street fair in downtown Mechanicsburg, is Thursday, June 15, from 10 AM – 9 PM.  This annual event features more than 300 vendors offering food, games, arts & crafts, business information, retail products, carnival rides, and more. In addition, there is a children’s area and live entertainment on two stages.  The festival is free – unless you buy something, of course.


Newville Fountain Festival | June 16 & 17, 2023 | NEWVILLE

The annual Newville Fountain Festival will return to the fountain in downtown Newville on June 16 & June 17. This two-day event features a parade, craft vendors, food, live music, pony rides, a baking contest, and much more.

Friday, June 16

  • Streets are closed at 2:00PM by WEMA and vendors begin to arrive.
  • Food court opens at 4:00PM
  • Parade forms at 6:00PM on Broad Street, the parade will start at 7:00PM.
  • Line Dance from 8:30PM to 9:30PM
  • Festival closes at 10:00PM

Saturday, June 17

  • Friendship Hose Company Breakfast, 8AM to 10AM
  • 5k Run at 9AM
  • Baking Contest to benefit Paw Packs, Judging and Auction at 9AM sponsored by the Big Spring Senior Center.
  • Friends of the John Graham Library Book sale all day at the library grounds
  • Historic horse drawn wagon tours by Newville Historical Society all day.
  • Petting Zoo and Kid Alley games all day.
  • Pony Rides on Heller Street by Winsome Farms to be invited
  • Tours of the Green Ridge Train Museum from 10AM to 2PM with a courtesy shuttle bus provided by Presbyterian Homes
  • Mr. Mike’s Dinosaur Show, 11AM on Parsonage Street sponsored by the Big Spring Kiwanis
  • Red 101 DJ throughout the day
  • Food, craft and public service vendors on Parsonage Street, West Street and W. Big Spring Avenue.
  • Festival contest winners announced at 2:30PM, festival will close at 3:00PM.

Mont Alto Firemen’s Carnival | June 9 – June 17, 2023 | MONT ALTO

The Mont Alto Firemen’s Carnival features nine nights of family fun, great food, and plenty to do! The 2023 carnival takes place from Friday, June 9, to Saturday, June 17. The kitchen opens at 5:30 PM every evening. The carnival includes rides, activities, bingo, small games for cash and prizes, fireworks on June 16, and live music nightly. Entertainment schedule:

Beach Party at Colonel Denning Lake | June 24, 2023 | NEWVILLE

Celebrate the arrival of summer on the beach at Colonel Denning Lake. On June 24 from 6 – 8 PM, there will be a DJ playing the music of the ’60s, food, a bonfire with smores, and activities for children. Food options (prices from the 1960s) include hamburgers, hot dogs, chips, soda, and more. In addition, kids will enjoy a photo station, bubbles station, face painting, scavenger hunt, sidewalk chart art, and more! Special guests will include Miss Mermaid Pennsylvania and Smokey Bear. There will also be information and education about Colonel Denning State Park opportunities. The Friends of Colonel Denning State Park sponsor this event.


South Newton Township Vol. Fire Company’s Fireman’s Fair | June 22 – 24, 2023 | WALNUT BOTTOM

South Newton Fireman’s Fair is June 22, 23, and 24 at 16 Firehouse Road in Walnut Bottom. The fire company will be serving their Famous Cheeseburger Sub, Ham or Turkey Hoagies, Fair Sausages, Country Ham Sandwiches, Beef BBQ, Burgers, Hot Dogs and Soup, and Homemade Cakes and Pies. The Fireworks are scheduled for Friday, June 23, anytime after dark (the rain date is Saturday, June 24). Live entertainment nightly: Thursday night – Nathan Merovich; Friday Night – White Church Road Band; Saturday Night – Kenton Sitch Band.


Fort Loudoun Market Fair | June 23 – 25, 2023 | FORT LOUDON

Step back in time and visit an 18th Century Market Fair on June 23-25 at Historic Fort Loudoun in Fort Loudon, PA. This juried event will feature over 60 18th Century artisans, a chance to shoot at marks, live music, food vendors, and a glimpse of frontier life during the 18th Century.  Hours: Friday and Saturday: 9 AM to 5 PM and Sunday: 9 AM to 2 PM.  Admission: $5 per adult; 17 and under are freeGo HERE for more information on this event.


Carlisle Summerfair | June 23 – July 3, 2023 | CARLISLE

Carlisle Summerfair is from June 23 to July 3. The community-wide celebration features various family-friendly events. A few highlights for 2023 include a craft fair, concerts by Cheap Sneakers and the Harrisburg Symphony Orchestra, Jim Thorpe Track & Field Meet, Open Pool Nights, Mini Golf Tournament, and more.
