Here’s a list of a few opportunities to get out and about this weekend in & beyond  Shippensburg!  This is not meant to be a complete list.

Mechanicsburg Earth Day Festival   April 18, 2015, 9 am – 3 pm   Mechanicsburg, Cumberland County  Enjoy a FREE music-filled, family-friendly Earth Day festival in downtown Mechanicsburg! Music, workshops, vendors, kids’ activities and more throughout the town! Smokey Bear will be there from 11am-1pm!

The BARNSTORMERS ANNUAL FREE FAN FEST EXTRAVAGANZA is being held at Clipper Magazine Stadium, 650 N. Prince Street Lancaster, PA on Saturday, April 18! Gates open at Noon.  Lots of FREE activities and entertainment including Balloon Artists, Face Painters, Cookie Decorators, Train Conductors, and Costumed characters. At 1:00 pm, Lancaster Barnstormers will play a Spring Training game against the Southern Maryland Blue Crabs in nine innings of exhibition baseball.  Turkey Hill will be providing free ice cream and all ballpark Combo Meals will be half price for the day!

Spring Into History is being held in Franklin County on April 18, 2015 from 10 am till 4 pm.  Take a leisurely tour around Chambersburg to visit local historical sites in Franklin County.  Explore history museums, historic sites and societies to learn about the history of the Underground Railroad, Civil War, frontier America & more!  Bring Flat Ben to four Spring Into History sites,  photograph him at each of the 4 locations, and enter to win a prizes!  Find all details at Spring Into History With Flat Ben | Do Dine Stay Franklin County PA.

Go Green in the City, a family-friendly festival in Downtown York, celebrating green, healthy and local living.  It is being held  on April 18th from 10am-3pm. Michaels has a Kids Club every Saturday from 10 am – Noon for ages 3 and up. For $2 your child can make a seasonal craft for 30 minutes while you shop!  On Saturday, April 18th the craft will be a Clothespin Bug Magnet.

Rachel’s Country Store, McClays Mill Rd. Newburg, PA is having its 18th Anniversary Sale & Multi Family Yard Sale on Saturday, April 18th at 7:00 am!  Enjoy Smith’s Chicken BBQ, homemade Donuts made on site, Bake Sale, and lots of great yard sale deals.  You can register for door prizes and check out their Anniversary specials in the store.

Help celebrate National Library Week!  Now to April 18th, eat at Arooga’s Shippensburg, CJ’s, Knute’s, or University Grille to support the Shippensburg Public Library‘s “All Grilles on Board” event where a portion of the restaurants sales will go towards the Library’s Capital Campaign.  Just show up – no coupon needed.

Culinary Herb Seminar April  18th 10am to 2pm  at Taylor’s Greenhouse, 265 Fairgrounds Rd Biglerville PA  with Barb Steele from the former Alloway Creek Gardens. Informal presentation will be held hourly.

Green Grove Gardens Spring Fever Flower and Craft Bazaar will be this Saturday, April 18, 2015 from 9am to 3pm. Over 50 vendors with handcrafted items, seasonal items, arts, crafts, food, flowers and more!  Green Grove Gardens is located at 1032 Buchanan Trl E, Greencastle, Pennsylvania 17225.

You can get free admission to National Parks April 18th and 19th to celebrate opening weekend of National Park week.  Parks listed at U.S. National Park Service Free Entrance Days waive their entrance fees on nationally designated fee free dates.  Here are the parks waving their fees this weekend in PA & MD.
