What’s Happening | October 30, 31, November 1

October 30th

Southampton Township, Franklin County is hosting its Fall Fest on Friday, October 30th 6 pm – 8pm at their township building, 705 Municipal Drive, Shippensburg.  This is a free community event & social gathering which includes candy for trick or trunk, family fun activities, fire trucks, and costumes.  Prizes for best costume and best trunk decoration will be awarded.

The Shippensburg Swing Band is having their 6th annual Halloween Dinner Dance on Friday, October 30, 2015.  The Dinner Dance will be at Premier Events, 429 E. Orange St. from 7 pm – 10pm. $25 Dinner & Dance; $10 Dance Only.  Dance only tickets (8 pm – 10 pm) can be purchased at door. There will be a costume contest with prizes.

Greencastle Halloween Parade will be held October 30, 2015 at 7:00 pm. 

October 31st

Shippensburg Trick or Treat is scheduled for October 31, 2015 6 pm – 8 pm for ages 12 and under.

Southampton Cumberland Twp. Park and Rec. is holding a Candy Scramble at Southampton Junction Pavilion and Soccer Fields at 140 Airport Rd on Oct. 31st. This event will start at 5:00 pm. Rain or Shine.

Light In The Night 2015 hosted by Mongul United Brethren will be October 31st from 6 pm – 8 pm (Halloween Alternative) at Shippensburg Township Park (Britton Rd). This is a FREE fun-filled family event with music, inflatables, hay maze, food, crafts and candy.

Any child that visits the Book Nook next to the Shippensburg Public Library on October 31st gets one free book! Open from 10 am – 2 pm.

Children’s Fair Oktoberfest will be October 31st from 11am – 3 pm at Scotland Campus, 3583 Scotland Road, Chambersburg.  Face paint, carnival games, BBQ, balloon animals, live entertainment and more! Bring the entire family, it is free to attend! There will be food for sale from Holy Smokehouse BBQ.

November 1st

The Waynesboro Lions Club will hold their annual model train show fundraiser at the Mont Alto Fire Hall, located along Rt. 997 in Mont Alto, on Sunday, November 1, starting at 9 a.m. and lasting until 2 p.m.  The Mont Alto Fire Department will offer free fire truck rides to all children with a paid admission to the Train Show. Door prizes will also be given out at regular intervals. Food and refreshments will be available for purchase.  Tickets for the Train Show may be purchased at the door. Cost is $3.00/person or $5.00/immediate family (parents and children).

For 2015 the time to “Fall Back” will occur at 2:00 a.m. on Sunday, November 1. Time will go back one hour to 1:00 a.m. With the end of Daylight Saving Time you will be “gaining” the one hour of time you “lost” in March.

Weekend Ongoing Activities

Visit Hersheypark in the Dark this weekend, October 30-November 1. 13 thrilling roller coasters, including Laff Trakk and four Dark Ride Experiences;  a Trick-Or-Treat Adventure through Hershey’s Chocolate World Attraction and Hersheypark;  flashlight tours during Creatures Of The Night at ZooAmerica;  two Halloween-themed resident shows; and more! Happy Hauntings, Dutch Wonderland Family Amusement Park, 2249 Lincoln Highway East, Lancaster, PA will feature themed rides, special entertainment, and the Trick-or-Treat Trail – a safe, interactive trick-or-treating experience. October 31 -November 1, 2015  Times: Saturday 2-9 PM & Sunday 2-8 PM

Beam’s Blue Mountain Farm will be open on Saturday, October 31st from 10am-4pm. FREE hayrides though Scarecrow Hollow, their woods decorated with family friendly decorations to the pick-your-own pumpkin patch. Fall decorations, baked goods, a straw bale climbing area, and a petting zoo. Beam’s is located at 13374 Lurgan Rd. Newburg.

Reynolds Farm, 11129 Gehr Road, Waynesboro, is a pick-your-own pumpkin farm with hayrides to the pumpkin patch. Admission includes Hayride, Play Area, Corn Maze, Grass Maze, & more. Tues. – Fri. 9:30-5:30; Saturday 10 – 6; Sunday 12 – 6.  The farm will close for the season on November 1st.

Stoner’s Dairy Farm, 7678 Oellig Rd, Mercersburg, offers plenty of weekend Fall farm activities.  Corn maze, hay rides, petting zoo & more.  Hours are Fridays 7 – 10 pm (Haunted Maze), Saturday, noon – 10 pm & Sunday noon – 5 pm. Please visit their website for details.

Country Creek Produce Farm, Etter Rd, Chambersburg continues its Fall Season. The farm’s attractions include a corn maze and pumpkin patch.  Night Maze on October 30-31. Country Creek Event Flyer

At Bass Pro Shoppes, October 24 – October 31, there will be free photos, activities, giveaways and prizes for young visitors.  Charlie Brown, Linus, and Snoopy will be in the pumpkin patch.  A FREE 4×6 (photos is available with the opportunity to purchase a photo package for just $5 WITH COUPON) The photo package is available at a cost of $10 without the coupon. A craft will be available every day and will vary throughout the event. Trick or Treat in the store will happen on Oct. 30 & 31 6pm-8pm. A costume parade will begin promptly at 6pm on Oct. 30 & 31. There will be a $10 gift card for the favorite costume each night! Make it scary, cute or funny! All are welcome to parade and there will be a give-away for all participants!
