Here’s a list of opportunities to get out and about this weekend in Shippensburg and Beyond!

Shippensburg

On Saturday, Feb. 20th 10 am on the Main Floor of the Shippensburg Library, there will be an informational morning with the preschools of Shippensburg. Each school will have a representative and information about their programs, policies, prices and times.  Participating Preschools: Head Start of Shippensburg, Bartos Child and Family Center, Memorial Lutheran, Good Shepherd, and Roots.  The Shippensburg Library will have information on their children’s activities.

The Book Nook at the Shippensburg Public Library has all children’s books buy one get one free in February. Also any library discards are $.75 each. The books are gently used and/or library discards. Go here for hours of operation.

Roxbury

The Blue Mountain Skating Rink is located 1 mile west of Roxbury, PA on Rt 641.  The roller skating rink is open for public skating on Friday evenings from 7-9 PM Admission is only $3 and skate rentals are $1.  Kids 6 and under are FREE and non-skating adults are FREE.

Carlisle

Re-enactors and those interested in living history are encouraged to visit The U.S. Army Heritage and Education Center from 10 AM to 4 PM on Saturday, February 20, 2016 to interact with living history organizations. The Fifth Annual Re-enactor Recruiting Day serves as a “meet and greet” for living historians to interact between their organizations and for the public to learn more about the periods each group represents. There is no cost for this event.

Chambersburg

Winter Bounce Festival at the Chambersburg Mall, 3055 Black Gap Road on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays February 19 – 21, 26 – 28 and March 4 – 6, 11 – 13. A majority of the amusement rides will be for ages 12 and under, but there will be a few all age attractions. Also available for purchase will be Make Your Own Stuffy Bears, Face Painting, Air Brush Tattoos, and Personalized Name Art.  Ages 3 and up $10; Ages 2 and under $5; Full Month Pass $100

Harrisburg

Feb 21-22 Motorama at the Pennsylvania Farm Show Complex and Expo Center, Harrisburg. Racing events, car shows, vendors, live music, a beauty pageant, eateries, and more. More than 2,000 racers travel to the venue each year to participate, along with 800 exhibition race and show vehicles and more than 150 vendors. Children’s Miracle Network at Penn State Hershey Children’s Hospital will benefit from the event. Ticket info & more here.

Hershey

Zoo America has $5.50 Fridays where all visitors get in for $5.50 every Friday during the winter through March 18, 2016.  Admission is regularly $11 per person for ages 9-54, $9 for ages 3-8 & 55+, and free for ages 2 and under.
