Here’s a list of opportunities to get out and about this weekend in Shippensburg and Beyond!

Shippensburg

The Shippensburg Band is proud to present a free concert featuring the talents of local musicians performing timeless music selections. The concert is scheduled for Sunday, March 31, at 2:30PM in the auditorium of Shippensburg Area Senior High School.  Highlights of the concert include selections from “West Side Story,” Songs from the Great War (the music of World War I), Prelude on an Old Southern Hymn, Righ-Left March, and March – Ponderosa. Young musicians will join the band for music from “A Star is Born” and “Mister Rogers’ Neighborhood.”

Comedian Scott Davis with Matt Duren will be at Ridge Church of the Brethren on Friday, March 29, 7PM. This is a free event but a ticket is required. Please email ridgesecretary@embarqmail.com or call the church office at 717-423-5228 for tickets.

Shippensburg Historical Society’s event Swing into History: Shippensburg in the 1940s will be held Friday, March 29 at Premiere Events. Ticketholders will enjoy a fun evening of Swing dance celebrating the rich history of Shippensburg.

The Long’s Family Donuts Truck will be set up at West End Office Complex on Saturday, March 30 from 7AM – 11AM.  Donuts can be pre-ordered by texting Andrea at 717-552-7495 or messaging the Long’s Family Catering & Donuts Business Page.  Payment can be made the day of the event (cash or card accepted).  Flavors: Salted Caramel, Cinnamon & Sugar, Powdered Sugar and Glazed  Cost: 1=$1; 1/2 Dozen=$5; 1 Dozen=$10, Box of Holes = $2.50

Roxbury

There is public skating at the Blue Mountain Skating Rink on Friday evenings from 7-9PM. $4 admission and $1 skates. Children under 6 are free and non-skating adults are free as well.  The Blue Mountain Skating Rink is located 1 mile west of Roxbury, PA on Rt 641.

Chambersburg

Franklin Clothing Outlet in Chambersburg is having an End of Season Super Sale through Saturday, March 30. Sale hours: Thurs and Friday 11AM – 4:30PM; Saturday 10AM – 4PM.  The Franklin Clothing Outlet is located at 5121 Innovation Way, Building 6.

Spring into fun at the Spring Fling Eggstravaganza Craft & Vendor Show on March 30, 9AM – 3PM at the Scotland Community Center in Chambersburg.  Homemade crafts, spring décor, and Easter gifts on hand.  Stop by and register your children for the egg hunt. All participants in the egg hunt must preregister by 11:30AM. Egg hunt begins at 12:30PM. The Easter bunny will be available for a free photo shoot from 11AM to 1PM.  BBQ Chicken dinner is available as well.

On Saturday, March 30, you may bring your dog to Meadows Frozen Custard of Chambersburg for a free doggy dish of vanilla with a treat on top and a coupon for a future visit. Your dog must be present.

United Way of Franklin County is hosting a free family fun event with over 40 kids’ activities on March 30, 10AM – 1PM. Learn & Play Day with United Way features inflatable playgrounds, a coloring wall, Touch-A-Truck, the Book Buggy, storytimes, a reading corner, arts and crafts, games and much more. Families will enjoy free kids’ activities from over 30 community agencies offering information on local resources for families.  The event will be held at LifePoint Church, 339 Lincoln Way E.

Nitterhouse Masonry Products will open their Outlet on Saturday, March 30, 2019.  It will continue to be open every Saturday from 8AM – Noon throughout the season.  The outlet offers deals on overruns, discontinued colors, and slightly blemished concrete products!  Nitterhouse Outlet is located across from the production facility on Route 11 and just up the street from Nitterhouse Concrete located at 2655 Molly Pitcher Hwy South, Chambersburg.

Gander Outdoors is having their anniversary celebration through Sunday, March 31. Free hot dog lunch from 11AM – 1PM on Saturday, March 30. The first 100 customers on Sunday receive a free hat.

Congregation Sons of Israel Synagogue will celebrate its 100th anniversary with delicious Jewish cuisine, music, and dancing at a Jewish Food and Heritage Festival on Sunday, March 31. The festival will be in the synagogue, 209 E. King St., Chambersburg. Seatings are at 12:30 and 2:30PM.  Tickets are $15. Tickets are limited, and reservations are suggested. Grab your friends & family and head to Laser Bowling on Sunday evenings from 4-8PM at Nellie Fox Bowl.

  • $3 for each shoe rental
  • stay as many hours as you would like and each hour will be just $10 per hour for the complete lane
Hershey

All guests to The Hershey Story Museum on Friday, March 29 receive free admission to the Museum Experience and the all-new “See Mr. Hershey In a Whole New Way” exhibit! Courtesy of The Hershey Company.  The Hershey Story Museum is open from 9AM – 5PM.

Gardenfest Free Community Day at Hershey Gardens is Sunday, March 31, 9AM – 5PM.  Guests are invited to enjoy the 23 acres, the Milton & Catherine Hershey Conservatory, and the indoor Butterfly Atrium.  From 10AM to 3PM, local gardening and horticultural organizations will be making presentations. Guests can also enjoy a photography exhibit provided by the staff of Hershey Gardens.
