Community Events

Veterans Day is Friday. Chambersburg’s Veterans Day Parade & Ceremony will be held on November 11 at 10 AM. The parade runs along Lincoln Way East beginning at Fifth Avenue and ending at Memorial Square. A brief ceremony follows.  Many restaurants are offering deals and freebies on this day for veterans and current servicemen and women.  View them here.

Chambersburg Community Theatre will present the musical Disney’s Beauty & the Beast, at the Capitol Theatre, 159 S. Main St. November 11-13.  For showtimes & ticket prices go here.

img_5624The Franklin County Therapeutic Riding Center (TRC) will be hosting Healing for the Holidays at 181 Franklin Farm Lane, Chambersburg on Saturday November 12 from 10 AM to 3 PM.  FREE Pony Rides, FREE Carriage Rides, FREE Photos with Santa. There will also be a Bake Sale to raise money for TRC, Face Painting and Games for kids.

Katie’s Place Thrift Shop is having its next monthly sale November 10 – 12 from 8 AM – Noon.  The store is located at the old Martin’s Bakery Building (go down the hill to the bottom of the building) at the corner of S. Penn and E. Garfield Streets in Shippensburg.  Clothing, Christmas decor, cookware, accessories, and more.

Customer Appreciation Day is Saturday November 12th at CommunityAid. Everything in the store is 50% off from 9AM – 9PM.

On November 12th and 13th, DBSCHENKER and USXI are teaming up for their “Stuff a Truck” event.  They will be located in the Tractor Supply parking lot in Shippensburg from 8 AM to 4 PM both days collecting for the local Toys for Tots! Bring unwrapped, new toys and help fill the truck.

Hersheypark Christmas Candylane opens Friday, November 11 and continues with select dates until January 1.  Admission to Candylane is regularly $19 for ages 3 and up. Children ages 2 and younger are FREE.  More than 40 rides are open, including 5 coasters.  Discounted ticket info is HERE.

Santa’s Wonderland Event Kicks off with Santa’s Arrival at Bass Pro Shops, 3501 Paxton Street, Harrisburg on Saturday, November 12th at 5PM. Santa and the kids, through a little magic, will light his wonderland. Cookies and hot chocolate will be served. There will be free crafts, $25 Bass Pro Shop gift card giveaways every half hour, games, and activities. Kids get a FREE 4×6 photo with Santa from 6 PM – 8 PM.  This is a free event.

Craft Shows, Holiday Bazaars, and Open Houses

Shippensburg

A Christmas Craft Fair will be held at The Beistle Company on November 12 8 AM – 2 PM.   Over 65 unique crafters will have Food/Baked Goods, Floral Arrangements, Seasonal Decor, Wood Crafts and more.  Everything you’ll find is handmade.  The Beistle Company Annual Craft Fair will be held indoors at 1 Beistle Plaza, Shippensburg.img_5324

Maplewood, 8564 Olde Scotland Road, Shippensburg is holding a Rummage Sale on Sat, November 12 from 8 AM – 4 PM. Maplewood will offer for 10% off bulk foods snacks.

Walnut Bottom

Trinity UM Church’s 18th Annual Country Christmas Craft Show will be held Saturday, November 12 from 8 AM – 2 PM. There will be arts and craft vendors and plenty of food. Location: Trinity UM Church, 110 West Main Street (Route 174), Walnut Bottom PA 17266

Chambersburg/Greencastle

Holiday Bazaar will be held Friday November 11 & Saturday November 12.  Location is Rocky Springs Golf Club, 1580 Bloom Avenue, Chambersburg (Letterkenny Army Depot).  Friday’s Hours 11 AM – 8 PM & Saturday’s Hours 9 AM – 6 PM.  Handcrafted items to include hand sewn purses and bags, Christmas & county centerpieces, refinished furniture, antiques, vintage & primitive pieces, linens, hand sewn projects, and woodworks.  Follow the sheep!

Christmas Craft Fair at Antrim Brethren in Christ Church is on Saturday, November 12 from 8 AM – 3 PM.  Homemade crafts and baked goods, weaving and spinning demonstrations, holiday cards and prints, antique silver wind-chimes, floral arrangements, teas and herbs, wood crafts, country crafts, candles and soap, pottery, fabric crafts, quilting, antiques/primitives, food and drinks, plus much more.  Balloon animals and face painting.  Proceeds support Antrim’s Women’s and Youth Ministries.

img_5430Shop for the Holidays will be held November 12 from 10 AM – 3 PM at the Chambersburg Recreation Center, 235 South Third Street, Chambersburg. It will showcase local and regional high-quality, hand-made items as well as independent home-based business consultants. There will also be pictures with Santa, free crafts for kids, and door prizes.

Snavely’s, 2106 Lincoln Way E, Chambersburg is hosting Night of Lights Friday, November 11 from 6 PM – 8 PM.  The Christmas Shop will be open with dozens of lighted themed trees, wreaths, garland, & decor!  Light refreshments.  Hosted by Santa & Mrs. Claus.  Their Holiday Open house will continue November 12 & 13.

Vintage Market at the Old Red Barn, 1293 Warm Spring Rd, Chambersburg will be having a Holiday Show on November 11 – 13.  Furniture, holiday items, designer decor & more. Open the second weekend of each month Friday and Saturday 10 AM – 5 PM, and Sunday Noon to 5 PM. 

Green Grove Gardens Annual Christmas Craft Show is Saturday, November 12 from 9 AM – 3 PM. The Christmas Craft Show will include local artisans, craft vendors, food and beverages.  Door prizes every 30 minutes.  Admission & Parking are FREE. Green Grove Gardens is located at 1032 Buchanan Trail East, Greencastle, PA.

Fort Loudon

A Christmas Open House event will be held November 12 at Fittry’s Antique Barn & Flea Market. Unique one of a kind gifts, furniture,  and decor to help get your home holiday ready. Snacks, door prizes, and gift certificates will be awarded. Fittry’s is located at 11436 Lincoln Way West, Fort Loudon. Open House Hours:  10-5 Saturday.
