Here’s a list of opportunities to get out and about this weekend in Shippensburg and Beyond!

Shippensburg

Katie’s Place Rummage Sale is this week Feb. 2, 3, 4 from 8 AM – Noon.  Katie’s Place is at the corner of S. Penn and E. Garfield streets.

Book Nook at the Shippensburg Public Library has all hardback books buy one get one free in February.

Friday, Feb. 3rd the SHAPE Gallery will be open from 6 PM – 8 PM.  Reinventing Traditions –  Digital Collage Series by John P. Wise &  Glass Creations by Michael Peluso.

The Jones Baseball Academy at Shippensburg University will be hosting a baseball winter camp on Sundays.  All camps are taught at Heiges Fieldhouse by SU’s coaching staff and players. February 5 (Ages 6 – 18): Hitting Camp, 12-1:30pm $30;  February 5 (Ages 6 – 18): Pitcher Catcher Camp, 1:30-3pm $30    Read more here.

Roxbury

The Blue Mountain Skating Rink is located 1 mile west of Roxbury, PA on Rt 641.  The roller skating rink is open for public skating on Friday evenings from 7-9 PM Admission is only $4 and skate rentals are $1.  Kids 6 and under are FREE and non-skating adults are FREE.

Carlisle

Stroll downtown Carlisle on Saturday, February 4 from 1 PM to 4 PM for the 2nd annual Sweetheart Stroll!  This event is geared towards grown-ups, particularly “sweethearts”, who will enjoy a brisk walk around downtown Carlisle to discover the small businesses it has to offer.  Participating businesses will be offering special treats and deals during the stroll.  On the day of the event, a Map of Hearts can be picked up at Georgie Lou’s Retro Candy, 56 W High Street, which will detail participating businesses and their offerings for the day.

Chambersburg

Chick-fil-A Chambersburg is offering up FREE Coffee Fridays throughout February 2017.  Come in for breakfast (6:30 AM – 10:30 AM) this February and enjoy a free medium hot coffee each Friday.  No purchase necessary.

On February 3, the Chambersburg Police Department will be participating in the “Coloring with a Cop” event at the Garage Studios, 102 S. Main St Chambersburg.  Fun Evening of Coloring, Ask questions in a relaxing & fun environment, Coloring supplies will be provided, FREE event from 5 PM – 8 PM, ALL Ages.  Please come and spend the evening with local officers.


On February 3rd, a spaghetti dinner fundraiser for the Cumberland Valley Animal Shelter will be held from 4-8 PM at Chambersburg Area Middle School South, 1151 E. McKinley Street.  Spaghetti, meatballs, bread stick, two sides, dessert and drink; takeout containers available for food only.  $6 advance, $8 at the door.  Tickets at CVAS, 5051 Letterkenny Road West, or the shelter’s thrift stores at 66 S. Main St., Chambersburg, and 1 E. King St., Shippensburg.

Know your Heart Inside and Out! Herald Mail Media and Summit Health are sponsoring the 2017 Heart Health Wellness Expo on Saturday, February 4, 2017. From 10 AM – 2 PM the expo will give you and your family a head start on healthy living.  The Expo will be held at Chambersburg Area Middle School North, 1957 Scotland Ave., Chambersburg. This is a FREE event.

Gettysburg

Gettysburg Rocks is coming February 2nd – 4th.  During the Gettysburg Rocks event, live performances of more than 160 bands in and around Gettysburg will help conquer childhood cancer by assisting children treated at Penn State Hershey Children’s Hospital and their families. Admission is free at all venues with 100 percent of the donations going to the Four Diamonds Fund benefiting THON. Multiple genres of music will be performed. Tickets for the 17th annual Gettysburg Times With This Ring Bridal Show are on sale. The event will be held at the Gettysburg National Military Park Museum and Visitor Center, 1195 Baltimore Pike on Friday, February 3 from 6 to 9 p.m.  Tickets $7 in advance, $10 at the door.

York

York’s winter auto racing show, Racing Xtravaganza, features race cars, exhibits, booths, and more.  The show will run in the Utz Arena on Saturday and Sunday. Show times are 10 AM until 9 PM on Saturday and 10 AM until 4 PM on Sunday.

Harrisburg

The Great American Outdoor Show is a nine-day event (Feb 4 – 12) celebrating hunting, fishing, and outdoor traditions. The show features over 1,000 exhibitors ranging from shooting manufacturers to outfitters to fishing boats and RVs, archery and art. The schedule includes country concerts, fundraising dinners, speaking events, archery competitions, and more.  Pennsylvania Farm Show Complex and Expo Center, Harrisburg.

Hershey

Zoo America has $6 Fridays where all visitors get in for $6 every Friday during the winter through March 2017. Admission is regularly $11 per person for ages 9-54, $9 for ages 3-8 & 55+, and free for ages 2 and under.
