2017 Holiday Events in Gettysburg during the Christmas season.

Gettysburg Tree Lighting  Friday, November 24, 5PM

Grand Lighting Celebration at Lincoln Square.  Festivities begin at 5PM with refreshments available and carolers.  The Gettysburg Christmas Tree will be lit at 6PM when Santa comes to town.

Free Carriage Rides November 24-December 23 on Fridays & Saturdays

The Outlet Shoppes at Gettysburg will be offering FREE Carriage Rides on Fridays & Saturdays, November 24 – December 23 from 5PM-8PM each night.

Christmas Pops for Tots  Sunday, November 26 4PM

Concert to benefit Toys for Tots will feature holiday favorites.  The concert will be held at Memorial Church of the Prince of Peace, Episcopal, located at the corner of Baltimore & High Streets.  Attendees are encouraged to bring an unwrapped toy.

An Eisenhower Christmas December 1 – 31

Celebrate Christmas at the Eisenhower National Historic Site and see the family’s home decorated as it was during their presidential years in the 1950s.

Gingerbread Celebration & Holiday Mart  Friday, December 1 & Saturday, December 2

Gingerbread houses, enjoy children’s activities, and shop the mart at Gettysburg’s HACC campus.

Breakfast with Santa  Saturday, December 2,  7:30AM – 11:30AM

​Enjoy a breakfast with Santa Claus sponsored & hosted by The Gettysburg Hotel to benefit the United Way of Adams County.  Admission is $5, children 3 years and younger are free!  No reservations or advanced ticket sales.

Victorian Christmas  Saturday, December 2, throughout the day

Join the businesses on Steinwehr Avenue for a Victorian Christmas.  Participating businesses will be decorated and offering special activities, events, products and discounts.  Some highlights include free carriage rides, Mr. & Mrs. Santa Claus, children’s activities, refreshments, music and more!

The Polar Express Story Time Saturday, December 2, 4PM

The Gettysburg Branch of the Adams County Library System will host Storyteller Beth Rebert as she “conducts” children of all ages (aka the whole family) on a magical ride through this Christmas classic.  Everyone is invited to come dressed in their pajamas and enjoy this beautiful tale.

Gettysburg Christmas Parade  Saturday, December 2,  7PM

The annual Christmas Parade (Lincoln Square) is hosted by Olde Getty Place.

A Christmas Carol  December 8 – 17

​Totem Pole Playhouse in association with Gettysburg Community Theatre presents Charles Dickens’ A Christmas Carol at the Majestic Theater.

Holiday Tuba Carol Fest Friday, December 8,  7PM

Tuba players from around the country will join together to play Christmas carols on historic Lincoln Square.

Breakfast with Mrs. Claus Saturday, December 9,  9AM – 11AM

Mrs. Claus will be at the Refectory at the United Lutheran Seminary and would like to meet the children.  A surprise guest will be skyped from the North Pole!  There will be singing, dancing with elves, storytelling and Christmas cookie decorating (the children will take home 1/2 dozen cookies).  Breakfast buffet.  All children must be accompanied by an adult.  $15 a child (with discounts for multiple children) and $8 for adults.

Holiday House Tour & Tasting Saturday, December 9,  Noon – 5PM

The Inns of the Gettysburg Area will hold their annual festive tour of historic homes, inns and properties beautifully decorated for the holiday season.
