2019 Fireworks in Shippensburg, Carlisle, Chambersburg, Waynesboro & MORE!

Fireworks will light up the sky all around South Central PA to celebrate Independence Day.  Here is our 4th of July guide to fireworks displays and community events.

Saturday, June 29, 2019

ROXBURY:  Roxbury Camp will have fireworks on Saturday, June 29 at 9:15PM during their Community Appreciation Day.  There will be children’s activities from 5-7PM.

Wednesday, July 3, 2019

CARLISLE:   Stars Burst Over Carlisle Fireworks & Festival, sponsored by Orrstown Bank will launch from the Carlisle Fairgrounds on Wednesday, July 3.  The new festival will feature live entertainment, food trucks, beer and wine garden, children’s area, and family-fun for everyone.

  • Atomic Bounce will produce a large children’s area with inflatables, slides, activities, face-painting, and games.
  • The Carlisle Craft Alliance, a group of local breweries, distilleries and other craft producers, will be on-site to sell beer, cider, and wine.
  • Live music from modern bluegrass band Colebrook Road will start at 5PM, and country favorites, Cold Springs Union at 7PM. DJ’s will play dance and country line dancing music in between sets.

The night ends at 9:35PM with a 25-minute fireworks show launched from the highest point in the fairgrounds and featuring more than 8,200 aerial and ground display shells. New this year is a music soundtrack of country and rock Americana that will be broadcast from the Carlisle Events fairgrounds stage and be choreographed to the fireworks overhead.

Admission to the fairgrounds for the fireworks and festival will be $5 per car or $1 per walk in.

Rain date for the fireworks will be July 4 at 9:35PM.

CHAMBERSBURG:  On July 4, the Cumberland Valley 21 Day Retreat organization will host activities throughout the day at Memorial Park.  A Car, Truck, and Motorcycle Cruise In is scheduled from Noon – 4PM.  All vehicles must be driven onto the show field; open to all years, makes and models; day of event registration fee is $5 per vehicle.  Food stands will be available (hamburgers, hot dogs, french fries, and drinks).  At 7:30PM, the Mercersburg Community Band will present a patriotic performance at Chambersburg Memorial Park Kiwanis Band Shell.  The “Day in the Park” will conclude with fireworks at 9:30PM.  This year’s fireworks are of a low variety and will be best viewed from inside the park.

 

WAYNESBORO:  The Waynesboro Summer Jubilee, a patriotic festival, is held annually to celebrate Independence Day. This year’s event will be held Thursday, July 4, 2019, in the area across from the Waynesboro Hospital. The celebration features a full day of free entertainment, patriotic exhibits, and exciting activities for children and adults of all ages.  The day begins with a 1 Mile Kid’s Fun Run & 5K followed by a parade in the morning. The event offers live entertainment, food, drink, and craft vendors throughout the day, and concludes with the annual fireworks display at dusk.

GETTYSBURG:  Celebrate the 4th of July in Gettysburg with a patriotic pops concert and fireworks show.  The concert stage will be located at Memorial Field on the campus of Gettysburg College. Popular local band, The Willys, will kick off the evening with a 90-minute set beginning at 6PM.  Afterwards, the Gala Pops Orchestra will perform a concert featuring popular American tunes and marches.  Fireworks will be launched at approximately 9:30PM as the concert concludes from the southern end of the Gettysburg College campus.  Rain date is July 5.

HARRISBURG:  On Thursday, July 4, the City of Harrisburg will host the Taste of Independence Food Truck Festival & Fireworks show along Riverfront Park from 3PM – 9PM. This one-day event features a food truck festival, live music, activities for children, and a fireworks show.  Fireworks will begin at approximately 9:15PM.  Street parking on July 4 will be free, parking on City Island will be $5, and there will be $10 parking in the Market Square Garage.

 


Friday, July 5, 2019

SHIPPENSBURG:  Shippensburg Community Parks and Recreation Authority will be hosting Shippensburg’s Fireworks Display on July 5 at Veterans Stadium at Shippensburg Memorial Park.  Veterans Stadium gates will open at 5PM for spectators to set up chairs or blankets to watch the firework show.

Schedule:
8:00 PM – Shippensburg Town Band
9:00 PM – Annual Candy Scramble (Ages: 5 – 13)
9:30 PM – Firework Display

This event is made possible by donations from local businesses and organizations.

FAYETTEVILLE:   The 2019 Fayetteville Firemen’s Carnival will be held July 1-6 at 101 W. Main Street.  Fireworks are scheduled for Friday, July 5 at 9:45PM. Rain date is Saturday at 9:45PM.

MECHANICSBURG:  Following the races at Williams Grove Speedway on July 5, stay for a fireworks display.
