2023 Independence Day & Fireworks Fun Guide

2023 Fireworks in Shippensburg, Chambersburg, Waynesboro & MORE!

Fireworks will light up the sky all around South Central PA to celebrate Independence Day.  Here is our 4th of July guide to fireworks displays and community events.


SHIPPENSBURG: Shippensburg’s 4th of July Fireworks will be at Veteran’s Stadium at Memorial Park. The stadium will open at 4 PM on Tuesday, July 4. The Shippensburg Swing Band will play from 8 – 8:45 PM. MBT Pyrotechnics will be setting off the fireworks at approximately 9:30 PM.


WAYNESBORO: The Waynesboro Summer Jubilee offers a full day of July 4th events, including the Firecracker 5K Race with 1 Mile Kid’s Fun Run, Live Music, Food/craft vendors, and Fireworks at dark. The Summer Jubilee takes place across from Waynesboro hospital in the large field at 500 East Main St. A parade will be held at 9:30 AM and sponsored by “The Brothers of the Brush Inc.” 


CHAMBERSBURG:

On July 4, 2023, the Chambersburg Recreation Department will host an Independence Day Celebration at Chambersburg Memorial Park. The celebration will begin at 4 PM and include food, refreshments, and fun, including inflatables, bands, food trucks, games, and a beer garden.

  • Food trucks will be set up from 4 – 9 PM and include Antietam Dairy, Midnight Smoke BBQ, Edward’s Kettle Korn, Bernard’s Jamaican Jerk Chicken, The Pretzel Spot Cafe, Hot Dogs Plus, and Sweet Rollers. 
  • The Shippensburg Community Fair royalty will face paint from 4 – 8:30 PM.
  • Inflatables and carnival style activities from 4 – 8:30 PM (fee to participate).
  • The Chambersburg Aquatic Center will be open from  1 – 7 PM and offer water games from 2-5 PM.
  • Bands TBA
  • Mercersburg Community Band from 8 – 9:15 PM.
  • FIREWORKS at 9:30 PM.

Chambersburg Memorial Park is located at 1 Washabaugh Way.

 


GETTYSBURG: A Gettysburg Fourth will be hosted by the Gettysburg Area Recreation Authority, Rotary Club of Gettysburg, Gettysburg Fire Department, and Destination Gettysburg at the Gettysburg Recreation Park, 545 Long Lane, on Tuesday, July 4. This annual event has something for everyone – food trucks, music, bingo, a cash raffle, a beer garden, face painting, glitter tattoos, a balloon artist, and more! The event begins at 4 PM, with the fireworks show at 9:20 PM. Onsite parking will be available for $5 per car.


CARLISLE: The Borough of Carlisle announced that they are canceling their annual “Stars Burst Over Carlisle” fireworks show on July 4, 2023.


HARRISBURG: On Tuesday , July 4, the City of Harrisburg will host the July 4th Food Trucks & Fireworks at Riverfront Park from 1-9 PM. The event will feature 45+ food trucks, live music, a wine/beer garden, kids’ activities, and “one of the largest fireworks display in Central PA.” The fireworks display will start at approximately 9:15 PM. Enjoy watching the display illuminate the Susquehanna River waterfront. The show can be viewed from miles of space along Riverfront Park, City Island, and other locations in the City of Harrisburg. Free street parking will be available in the city for the holiday. Parking on City Island is $5.

The 2023 Newville Lions Club Community Fair will be held on 4 evenings – July 5, July 6, July 7, and July 8. The annual fireworks display will be at 10 PM on Friday, July 7. The Newville Lions Fairgrounds is located on Route 533 at 433 Shippensburg Road.

Saturday, July 8, 2023

Fannettsburg Fest is Saturday, July 8.  Fireworks will be at 9:15 PM.  Fannettsburg Fest is an annual festival sponsored by Metal Township Fire and Ambulance #21 and features live music, good food, carnival games, bingo, dunk tank, petting zoo and train rides, face painting, and more.

The Shippensburg Community Fair has announced they are adding Fireworks to the closing night at the fair, July 29. Fireworks will be launched at 9:30 PM from the parking lot across from the Fairgrounds on Possum Hollow Road and will be visible throughout the fairgrounds. Seating will be available in the stage area following that evening’s show. Please bring blankets or lawn chairs!
