Summer is finally here!  Start making your weekend plans with our guide to South Central PA’s summer festivals in July.

Summerfair | June 27 – July 7, 2019 | CARLISLE

Carlisle Summerfair kicks off this weekend.  The 11-day festival of 30+ family events throughout Carlisle begins with the Rotary roast beef dinner on Thursday, June 27 and concludes with a Dennis McCaughey and Tropical Soul concert on July 7. Enjoy a wide variety of events, including baby racing, walking tours, fishing derby, children’s art activities, open pool night, craft show, dancing, musical, concerts & more.  Download the entire schedule HERE. Fayetteville Volunteer Fire Department Carnival | July 1 – 6, 2019 | FAYETTEVILLE

The 2019 Fayetteville Firemen’s Carnival will be held July 1-6.  Gates will open at 5PM every night and close at 10PM.  The Fayetteville Volunteer Fire Department will be having having their famous homemade Chicken Corn Soup and Ham & Bean Soup.  Fireworks will be on Friday evening at 9:45PM (rain date is Saturday at 9:45PM).  Entertainment is scheduled every night at 7PM.  Carnival grounds are located at 101 W. Main Street in Fayetteville.

Carlisle Fire and Rescue Services Annual Carnival | July 2-6 | CARLISLE

Carlisle Fire and Rescue Services Annual Carnival (177 Carlisle Spring Rd) will be held on July 2 through July 6. Food stands open at 5PM, rides will start at 6:30PM, and the nightly entertainment will begin at 7PM.  Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday evening will be Family Nights where wristbands will be available to purchase (unlimited rides on the midway).

Stars Burst Over Carlisle Fireworks & Festival | July 3, 2019 | CARLISLE

Stars Burst Over Carlisle Fireworks & Festival, sponsored by Orrstown Bank will launch from the Carlisle Fairgrounds on Wednesday, July 3.  The new festival will feature live entertainment, food trucks, beer and wine garden, children’s area, and family-fun for everyone.  The night ends at 9:35PM with a 25-minute fireworks show. Admission to the fairgrounds for the fireworks and festival will be $5 per car or $1 per walk in.  Rain date for the fireworks will be July 4 at 9:35PM.

Summer Jubilee | July 4, 2019 | WAYNESBORO

The Waynesboro Summer Jubilee, a patriotic festival, is held annually to celebrate Independence Day. This year’s event will be held Thursday, July 4, in the area across from the Waynesboro Hospital. The celebration features a full day of free entertainment, patriotic exhibits, and exciting activities for children and adults of all ages.  The day begins with a 1 Mile Kid’s Fun Run & 5K followed by a parade in the morning. The event offers live entertainment, food, drink, and craft vendors throughout the day, and concludes with the annual fireworks display at dusk.

Taste of Independence Food Truck Festival & Fireworks | July 4, 2019 | HARRISBURG

On Thursday, July 4, the City of Harrisburg will host the Taste of Independence Food Truck Festival & Fireworks show along Riverfront Park from 3PM – 9PM. This one-day event features a food truck festival, live music, activities for children, and a fireworks show.  Fireworks will begin at approximately 9:15PM.  Street parking on July 4 will be free, parking on City Island will be $5, and there will be $10 parking in the Market Square Garage.

“A Day at the Park” and Fireworks | July 4, 2019 | CHAMBERSBURG

On July 4, the Cumberland Valley 21 Day Retreat organization will host activities throughout the day at Memorial Park.  A Car, Truck, and Motorcycle Cruise In is scheduled from Noon – 4PM.  All vehicles must be driven onto the show field; open to all years, makes and models; day of event registration fee is $5 per vehicle.  Food stands will be available (hamburgers, hot dogs, french fries, and drinks).  At 7:30PM, the Mercersburg Community Band will present a patriotic performance at Chambersburg Memorial Park Kiwanis Band Shell.  The “Day in the Park” will conclude with fireworks.

4th of July Patriotic Pops Concert & Fireworks | July 4, 2019 | GETTYSBURG

Celebrate the 4th of July in Gettysburg with a patriotic pops concert and fireworks show.  The concert stage will be located at Memorial Field on the campus of Gettysburg College. Popular local band, The Willys, will kick off the evening with a 90-minute set beginning at 6PM.  Afterwards, the Gala Pops Orchestra will perform a concert featuring popular American tunes and marches.  Fireworks will be launched at approximately 9:30PM as the concert concludes from the southern end of the Gettysburg College campus.  Rain date is July 5.

Shippensburg Fireworks & Independence Day Party | July 5 & 6, 2019 | SHIPPENSBURG

Shippensburg Community Parks and Recreation Authority will be hosting Shippensburg’s Fireworks Display on July 5 at Veterans Stadium at Shippensburg Memorial Park.  Veterans Stadium gates will open at 6PM for spectators to set up chairs or blankets to watch the firework show. Schedule:  8PM – Shippensburg Town Band; 9PM – Candy Scramble (Ages: 5 – 13); 9:30PM – Firework Display.  On Saturday, July 6, Noon – 7PM, the Memorial Park Pool will offer $3 admission and host games/contests throughout the day during an Independence Day Party.

Franklin County Fair | July 7-13, 2019 | CHAMBERSBURG

The Franklin County Fair will be held July 7-13 at the Chambersburg Rod and Gun Club on Warm Spring Road.  Admission to the fair will be free in 2019, with a $5-per-vehicle parking fee.  Events and attractions at the fair include tractor pulls, a demolition derby, Shane the balloon guy & magician, children’s attractions, live entertainment, animals, and more.  For a complete schedule of events, visit franklincountyfair.org.

Rural Life Festival | July 13, 2019 | NEWBURG

Held each year in July, the Rural Life Festival provides a window into Pennsylvania’s past.  The annual event presented by Newburg United Methodist Church will be held Saturday, July 13, 9AM -3PM at 203 N. High St., Newburg and is a fun and educational experience for the whole family.  Admission and parking are free.  Visitors will see various demonstrations, displays, old-time activities, and enjoy homemade food.  Children will enjoy a barrel train ride, petting zoo, and more!

Caledonia Arts & Craft Fair | July 13, 2019 | FAYETTEVILLE

The annual Arts & Craft Fair at Caledonia State Park will be held Saturday, July 13 from 9AM to 4PM, rain or shine. Approximately 150 crafters and artists will be set up. Food will be available. Free Admission. Caledonia State Park is located off Rt. 30 at 101 Pine Grove Road, Fayetteville.

Chrysler Nationals | July 12 – 14, 2019 | CARLISLE

Carlisle Chrysler Nationals is July 12 – July 14 at Carlisle Fairgrounds, 1000 Bryn Mawr Road.  The event features 3,000 vehicles from all eras of the Chrysler brand, including classics, muscle cars and high-performance new models.

Greencastle Sidewalk Days | July 12 – 13, 2019 | GREENCASTLE

Sidewalk Days takes place on Friday, July 12 and Saturday, July 13 in and around the Greencastle Square.  The annual Greencastle Sidewalk Days features sales at downtown stores, street-side vendors, community groups, food, and entertainment.  There is ample parking on the side streets, at the Jerome King Playground and in the Borough Parking lot.

Newville Lions Club Fair | July 10-13, 2019 | NEWVILLE

The 2019 Newville Lions Club Community Fair will be held on 4 evenings – July 10, July 11, July 12, and July 13.  Enjoy good food, games, rides, and entertainment.  The Newville Lions Fairgrounds is located on Route 533 at 433 Shippensburg Road. 

Scoop-A-Palooza | July 13 , 2019 | CHAMBERSBURG

Scoop-A-Palooza is an all you can eat ice cream festival on July 13, 11AM -3PM to benefit educational programs funded by the Greater Chambersburg Chamber Foundation.  Ice cream vendors set up shop in the high school’s cafeteria with flavors ranging from the traditional vanilla and chocolate to cinnamon roll. Attendees will receive a book of tickets and vote for their favorites. Additional activities include Live Music, Maggie the Clown, Balloon Animals, Lego Crane Building Contest, Games, Face Painting, & Celebrity Sundae.  Scoop-A-Palooza is part of the annual Chambersfest Celebration.

Bluegrass on the Grass Festival | July 13, 2019 | CARLISLE

The Bluegrass on the Grass Festival is held in Carlisle on July 13. This free event is held on the Academic Quad lawn at Dickinson College and features a variety of music acts, food vendors (from bratwurst to Thai food and ice cream) and non-alcoholic drinks, including smoothies. You can start setting up blankets and lawn chairs at 8AM and the event runs from Noon to 8PM.

Meadowbrooke Gourds’ Summer Celebration | July 13, 2019 | CARLISLE

Meadowbrooke Gourds’ Summer Celebration will be held Saturday, July 13 from 5PM until dusk. Activities include the Oops Sale, Paint your Own Birdhouse Workshop, Horse drawn hayrides, Food trucks, Beer, Wine and local classic rock band Mid-Life Crisis.  This year’s food truck lineup includes Nomad Cuisine, Hall’s Ice Cream, Soul Burrito, and The Pretzel Spot Cafe. In addition, Molly Pitcher Brewing Company will serving their ice cold beer and Hat Creek Wine Shop will have Juniata Valley Winery wines. Bring your lawn chairs.  Not all venues take credit card, so bring some cash along.

A Day in the Life of the Royer Children | July 13, 2019 | WAYNESBORO

Renfrew Museum and Park is hosting an event titled, “A Day in the Life of the Royer Children” on Saturday, July 13 from 11AM to 4PM.  Experience how the Royer children lived, worked, and played during the 1800’s at this free community event!  Highlights of the day to include a petting zoo from Noon to 3PM; Slim Harrison and kids jug band from 11AM to 3PM, demonstrations, and children’s games.

Blueberry Festival | June 13 – 14, 2019 | BIGLERVILLE

Hollabaugh Farms is celebrating with a Blueberry Festival on July 13 and July 14.  The event is featuring fresh blueberries and samples, homemade blueberry baked goods, blueberry ice cream, special deals on produce, Pick-Your-Own Blueberries, fun kids’ activities, and loads of samples from local vendors.

Upper Frankford Township Fire Company’s Annual Fireman’s Fair | July 18 – 20, 2019 | NEWVILLE

Upper Frankford Township Fire Co. is having their annual fair Thursday through Saturday. July 18, 19, & 20.  Enjoy activities including on-stage live entertainment nightly and Kiddyland & Games for everyone.

Old Market Day | July 20 , 2019 | CHAMBERSBURG

On Saturday, July 20 is Old Market Day!  The annual street festival runs from 9AM to 4PM.  Downtown Chambersburg will be filled with arts, crafts and food vendors as well as live-music stages, kids’ activities and more.

After Old Market Day is 1864: The Burning. Activities begin at 7PM with the final round of a musical competition, A Cappella & Unplugged, followed by the reenactment of the Burning of Chambersburg with an exciting laser light show at 9PM.

Blueberry Festival | July 20, 2019 |  DILLSBURG

The Blueberry Festival at Paulus Orchards on July 20, 7AM – 1PM benefits Ecumenical Food Pantry.  Come for the all-you-can-eat breakfast and stay through the day for over 30 arts and crafts booths, pick-your-own berries, free food samples, the Jazz Me Band (9:30AM-12:30PM), tractor-pulled wagon rides, and more! PlayLand Admission is $5 per person.

Utz Kid Summer Bash | July 26, 2019 | HANOVER

The annual Utz Kids Summer Bash at Utz Outlet Store, 861 Carlisle St. Hanover will be held on July 26 from 10AM – 4PM. Open to the public and kids of all ages. The event is a FREE community event with fun planned for the day, including face painting, a dunk tank, live entertainment, vendors , and more.

Dutch Festival | July 27, 2019 | HANOVER

On July 27, the Annual Dutch Festival will be held in Center Square, Hanover from 8AM-4PM.  This full day event features delicious foods, handmade crafts, live music and a classic car show. 

Old-Fashioned CornFest | July 28, 2019 | BIGLERVILLE

The annual Old-Fashioned CornFest at the Historic Round Barn will take place on Sunday, July 28 from 11:30AM – 4PM. You will find all your traditional CornFest favorites, sweet corn roasted in the husk over an apple-wood fire, pulled pork made from a secret family recipe, BBQ Chicken, and delicious peaches grilled to perfection and placed on a mound of ice cream. This annual event will also feature live music by the Chuck Darwin & The Knuckle Draggers starting at Noon as well as free activities for the children.

Shippensburg Fair | July 22 – 27, 2019 | SHIPPENSBURG

The Shippensburg Fair will be held July 22–July 27.  The fair features homemade food prepared by local non-profit organizations, entertainment, livestock displays and competitions, home products exhibits, tractor pulls, horse shows, a craft show, and lots of rides and games!  Wristband (unlimited rides) are $20.  Rides open at 6PM.  Kiddies’ Day on Wednesday and Saturday allows all ages to ride from 10:30AM-4PM for $15. General admission to the Shippensburg Community Fair is free, and parking is just $5. The fairgrounds is at 10131 Possum Hollow Road.  See the entire Fair Schedule here.

South Mountain Fair | July 30 – August 3, 2019 | BIGLERVILLE

The annual South Mountain Fair takes place July 30 – August 3 in Arendtsville.  Enjoy rides for the kids, farm animals, exhibits, and food!  Nightly entertainment, a fireworks display on Thursday, August 1 (9:30PM), and antique tractor & farm machinery parade on Saturday.  See the entire schedule HERE.  Admission price is $7. Children under 36 inches tall are free. Unlimited carnival rides are included in the admission price! Children under 36″ tall ride for free. All entertainment is also included in the admission.  Free Parking.

Fulton County Fair | July 28 – August 3, 2019 | McCONNELLSBURG

The Fulton County Fair in McConnellsburg is July 28 through August 3.  Crafts, food stands, animals, rides, games, bands, and motor sports events.
