Shippensburg/Newburg

The Shippensburg Area Athletic Association is hosting a kids night this Friday evening, July 12, at Veterans Stadium. The Shippensburg Stars will be taking on the Hagerstown Braves at 6PM. Prizes will be given out during every inning for kids 12 and under.

The Rural Life Festival provides a window into Pennsylvania’s past.  The annual event presented by Newburg United Methodist Church will be held Saturday, July 13, 9AM -3PM at 203 N. High St., Newburg and is a fun and educational experience for the whole family.  Admission and parking are free.  Visitors will see various demonstrations, displays, old-time activities, and enjoy homemade food.  Children will enjoy a barrel train ride, petting zoo, and more!

On Sunday, July 14, shop the Creators & Makers Pop Up Market from 2PM – 6PM.  Local businesses, artisans, and brands will come together to display their handcrafted products at The Thought Lot in Shippensburg.

Fayetteville

Train rides at Norlo Park will continue on Saturday, July 13.  The miniature train, complete with a cattle car and caboose, is FREE to ride on Saturdays from 1PM – 4PM!  It is open to riders of all ages.  Last train boards at 3:50PM.  Donations are accepted.

The annual Arts & Craft Fair at Caledonia State Park will be held Saturday, July 13 from 9AM to 4PM, rain or shine. Approximately 150 crafters and artists will be set up.  Free Admission. Caledonia State Park is located off Rt. 30 at 101 Pine Grove Road, Fayetteville.

Greencastle

Sidewalk Days takes place on Friday, July 12 and Saturday, July 13 in and around the Greencastle Square.  The annual Greencastle Sidewalk Days features sales at downtown stores, street-side vendors, community groups, food, and entertainment.

Newville/Carlisle

The 2019 Newville Lions Club Community Fair will be held on 4 evenings – July 10, July 11, July 12, and July 13.  Enjoy good food, games, rides, and entertainment.  Fireworks will be Friday at 10PM. The Newville Lions Fairgrounds is located on Route 533 at 433 Shippensburg Road. 

The Bluegrass on the Grass Festival is held in Carlisle on July 13. This free event is held on the Academic Quad lawn at Dickinson College and features a variety of music acts, food vendors (from bratwurst to Thai food and ice cream) and non-alcoholic drinks, including smoothies. You can start setting up blankets and lawn chairs at 8AM and the event runs from Noon to 8PM.

Carlisle Chrysler Nationals is July 12 – July 14 at Carlisle Fairgrounds, 1000 Bryn Mawr Road.  The event features 3,000 vehicles from all eras of the Chrysler brand, including classics, muscle cars and high-performance new models.

Meadowbrooke Gourds’ Summer Celebration will be held Saturday, July 13 from 5PM until dusk. Activities include the Oops Sale, Paint your Own Birdhouse Workshop, Horse drawn hayrides, Food trucks, Beer, Wine and local classic rock band Mid-Life Crisis. This year’s food truck lineup includes Nomad Cuisine, Hall’s Ice Cream, Soul Burrito, and The Pretzel Spot Cafe. In addition, Molly Pitcher Brewing Company will serving their ice cold beer and Hat Creek Wine Shop will have Juniata Valley Winery wines. Bring your lawn chairs. Not all venues take credit card, so bring some cash along.

The Carlisle Parks and Recreation Department offers a medley of free cultural programs and musical concerts at the Thornwald Amphitheater known as the Summer Artist Series. The Carrol J. Warrell Theater of Arts, an outdoor theater, is host on Sunday evenings, weather permitting.  On Sunday, July 14 at 6:30PM is REACH (hip-hop).  View the Facebook Event here.

This weekend Spiderman: Far From Home and Godzilla: King of the Monsters will be showing at Cumberland Drive-In Theatre.  Gates open at 7PM.  First feature begins at approximately 9PM.  Admission: $8 Adults, $4 Children ages 3-12, free for Children Under 3.  Credit cards are accepted.  You may reserve your space here.

Chambersburg

The Franklin County Fair continues through July 13 at the Chambersburg Rod and Gun Club on Warm Spring Road.  Admission to the fair will be free in 2019, with a $5-per-vehicle parking fee.  Events and attractions at the fair include tractor pulls, a demolition derby, Shane the balloon guy & magician, children’s attractions, live entertainment, animals, and more.  For a complete schedule of events, visit franklincountyfair.org.

Free concerts at Chambersburg Memorial Park Kiwanis Band Shell continue all Summer long. View the dates HERE.

ChambersFest, an annual community celebration features a range of events beginning July 14 through July 21.  Restaurant Week is back for this year’s celebration. The Greater Chambersburg Chamber of Commerce will partner with local restaurants to offer patrons special cuisine, deals and daily prizes.

North Square Farmers Market is located next to Chambers Fort Park and open every Saturday morning, 8AM to Noon.

Scoop-A-Palooza is an all you can eat ice cream festival on July 13, 11AM -3PM to benefit educational programs funded by the Greater Chambersburg Chamber Foundation.  Ice cream vendors set up shop in the high school’s cafeteria with flavors ranging from the traditional vanilla and chocolate to cinnamon roll. Attendees will receive a book of tickets and vote for their favorites. Additional activities include Live Music, Maggie the Clown, Balloon Animals, Lego Crane Building Contest, Games, Face Painting, & Celebrity Sundae.  Scoop-A-Palooza is part of the annual Chambersfest Celebration.

The Kids Bowl FREE Summer Bowling Program is available in South Central PA. Each participating location has Program Days to receive FREE Games of Bowling All Summer long!  Each bowling alley has its own start and finish dates and age restrictions.  Read more HERE.

Waynesboro

Mainstreet Waynesboro’s Market at the Park is Saturday, July 13, 8:30AM – Noon at 25 E. Main St.  Produce, coffee, artisan cheese, farm-fresh milk and eggs, soaps, sandwiches, baked goods, flowers,  and Dawn and Dusk Donuts.

Renfrew Museum and Park is hosting an event titled, “A Day in the Life of the Royer Children” on Saturday, July 13 from 11AM to 4PM.  Experience how the Royer children lived, worked, and played during the 1800’s at this free community event!  Highlights of the day to include a petting zoo (with over 30 animals) from Noon to 3PM; Slim Harrison and kids jug band from 11AM to 3PM, demonstrations, and children’s games.

Dillsburg

The Blueberry Festival at Paulus Orchards on July 14, 7AM – 1PM benefits CURE International.  Come for the all-you-can-eat breakfast and stay through the day for over 30 arts/crafts booths, pick-your-own berries, free food samples, the Jazz Me Band (9:30AM-12:30PM), tractor-pulled wagon rides and more! PlayLand Admission:  $5 per person

Biglerville/Gettysburg

Hollabaugh Farms is celebrating with a Blueberry Festival on July 13 and July 14.  The event is featuring fresh blueberries and samples, homemade blueberry baked goods, blueberry ice cream, special deals on produce, Pick-Your-Own Blueberries, fun kids’ activities, and loads of samples from local vendors.

Pick-your-own blueberries at Boyer Nurseries & Orchards.  Bring containers to take your harvest home. Cash, check, and all forms of credit cards accepted.  Boyer Nurseries & Orchards also has an evergreen hedge maze you can explore for free.

Harrisburg

The State Museum is inviting visitors to pay what they wish for general admission on Fridays beginning on Friday, June 21, and continuing through Friday, August 23.  Regular planetarium admission rates ($3 per person) will still apply.

Hagerstown, MD

Open Airplane Afternoon & Military Vehicle Cruise in is Sunday, July 14, 11AM – 4PM.  Bring the family out to the Hagerstown Regional Airport to climb aboard and sit in the cockpit of the historic aircraft. The museum owns twenty historic aircraft, fourteen of which were built in Hagerstown. If you own a military vehicle you are invited to drive in and park by the aircraft.  FREE admission/donations accepted. Free museum aircraft collection poster for all guests.  The event is held at Hagerstown Regional Airport 18434 Showalter Rd, Hagerstown, MD 21742.
