Here’s a list of opportunities to get out and about this weekend in South Central PA!

Take part in PA Fish and Boat’s Mentored Youth Trout Days!  Youth under the age of 16 can join a mentor (adult) angler who has a current fishing license and trout permit to fish on Saturday, March 24, on stocked trout waters within the 18 southeastern and southcentral regional counties (All waters in Adams, Berks, Bucks, Chester, Cumberland, Dauphin, Delaware, Franklin, Juniata, Lancaster, Lebanon, Lehigh, Montgomery, Northampton, Perry, Philadelphia, Schuylkill and York counties) for Regional Trout Season.

Shippensburg

The Spring musical for Shippensburg Middle School is The Wizard of Oz – Young Performers’ Edition. Performances will be Thursday – Friday – Saturday, March 22 – 24 at 7PM in the Middle School Auditorium.

Join the Easter Bunny for breakfast at Memorial Lutheran Church in Shippensburg on Saturday, March 24.  A Pancake Breakfast with the Easter Bunny will be served from 8AM -11AM in the church’s Fellowship Hall.  Morning activities include Easter crafts, visit with the Easter Bunny, and door prizes too.  This is a FREE event hosted by Memorial Lutheran Church Fellowship Outreach Committee.  Reservations are appreciated but drop-ins are welcome. The Local Gathering is starting a community garden.  There will be a meeting at The Local Gathering on March 24 at 10AM with more details.

The Shippensburg University chapter of Tau Kappa (women’s athletics honors sorority) is hosting its 8th annual “Project Prom Dress” event.  The event will be held Sunday, March 25 from 9AM – 3PM inside Heiges Field House. Proceeds benefit The Four Diamonds.  Items for sale will include gently used prom dresses, homecoming dresses, purses, dress shoes and jewelry. Everything will be priced under $30!

 

There will be an Easter Egg Hunt at the Shippensburg Public Library on March 24 beginning at 11AM. There will be 4 different age groups and 2 slots for each age group. The age groups and time slots will go as follows:  Ages 0 – 3 11:00AM & 11:20AM; Ages 4 – 6 11:40AM & 12:00PM; Ages 7 – 9 12:20PM & 12:40PM; Ages 10 – 12 1:00PM & 1:20PM.  The Easter Bunny will also be there so bring your cameras! There will be one prize egg hidden during each time slot. To register, please call the library at (717)-532-4508.

Shippensburg Kids Event Committee presents Easter at the Gazebo on March 24, 11AM – 3PM.  This event has been postponed until April 7.  Games, Balloon Pop, Egg Race, Egg Toss, Pick an Egg.  Bonnet Contest at 2PM.

Ridge Church of the Brethren (1095 Ridge Rd.) is having a community egg hunt on March 24 at Noon (moved INDOORS).  Children from 3-5th grade are welcome for crafts, games, story time, and Easter photos. Hot dogs, chips and drinks too.  Each child will also receive a certificate for a free meal at Texas Roadhouse. (Rain date: March 31)

Roxbury

The Blue Mountain Skating Rink is located 1 mile west of Roxbury, PA on Rt 641.  The roller skating rink is open for public skating on Friday evenings from 7-9 PM.

There will be an American Girl Doll Bingo on March 25 at Roxbury Lions Club park. Tickets $20 in advance/$25 at door. Includes 20 regular games, and 3 special games.  Doors open at 11AM.  Early Bird Game at 12:45PM.   Regular Bingo begins at 1PM.

Carlisle

A Bunny Hop will be held in downtown Carlisle on March 24, Noon – 3PM.  FREE.  Dress your children 12 & under in their “Sunday Best” and bring them to downtown Carlisle for an afternoon egg hunt.  After picking up a map of participating locations at Georgie Lou’s (56 W. High Street) on the day of the event, families follow it to “Bunny Hop Stops” for treats, games, and crafts.  This event usually features more than 30 businesses and organizations.

Just Like New Children’s, Maternity & Household Consignment Sale will be at the Carlisle Expo Center.  Thursday, Mar 22, 10AM – 7PM;  Friday, Mar 23, 10AM – 6PM; Saturday, Mar 24, 8AM – 11:15AM (1/2 Price On Selected Items).

Chambersburg

Franklin Co. Kids Closet Connection Consignment Sale is March 21 – March 24 at the Chambersburg Mall.

Prom Blessing Closet will be held at two locations this weekend!  Shop on Saturday, March 24, 2018 from 1PM – 3PM at William K. Nitterhouse Family Center located at 756 S. Coldbrook Avenue, Chambersburg and Sunday, March 25, 2018 from 1:30PM – 4:30PM at the Waynesboro YMCA, 810 East Main Street, Waynesboro.  Dresses are by donation.

A Spring Arts & Crafts Show will be held on Saturday, March 24, 9AM – 3PM in the Family Life Center of St. Paul United Methodist Church, 750 Norland Avenue, Chambersburg. Admission is free. Many artist, crafters, & local authors.  Food will be available for purchase from Coach’s Corner BBQ.

Franklin County Rock and Mineral Club is sponsoring the 40th Annual Gem -Mineral and Jewelry Show. Vendors from all over will be displaying for sale jewelry, cut and uncut gems, fossils and unique mineral specimens.  The show will be held March 24, 10AM – 5PM and March 25, 10AM – 4PM.  There will be homemade food available.  Door Prizes. And, their famous 25 cent spinning wheel to win rock specimens.

Bruster’s customer appreciation day is March 24. Stop by in your coolest pair of pajamas and receive a FREE small waffle cone to enjoy with family and friends. Hoodies, t-shirts, shorts, sweatpants, and athletic pants do not count as pajamas. You must walk up to the window and show off those awesome PJs to get your FREE small waffle cone.

This event has been cancelled.  Menno Haven is hosting their annual Easter Egg Hunt on Saturday, March 24. The event will be held on the front lawn of Chambers Pointe (formerly Penn Hall). Bring your baskets & your camera.

Multiple generations will participate in a popular Easter tradition at the Magnolias of Chambersburg senior living community on March 24. The annual Easter Egg Hunt will be held from 10AM to noon in the Magnolias of Chambersburg courtyard.

A Children’s Easter Celebration will be March 24 at the Presbyterian Church of Falling Spring, from 10AM to 11:30PM.   Meet the Family Life Center for the Easter story, Easter-themed crafts, and end the morning with an outside INDOORS egg hunt.  This event is free and open to all.

 

Anything Kidz (1912 Philadelphia Ave, Chambersburg) 4th Annual Easter Egg Hunt is March 24, 10AM – 1PM.  Over 10,000 eggs (indoors).  Stuffed animals, books, and plenty of prizes too. Ages 0-3 10AM; Ages 4-6 10:30AM; Ages 7-12 11AM.  

The Cumberland Valley Animal Shelter will hold their annual Easter Hound Hunt at 2PM Sunday, March 25, at the shelter, 5051 Letterkenny Road West.  Registration will be at 1PM or prior to the event at cvas-pets.org.  Thousands of plastic Easter eggs will be stuffed with dog treats and participants are asked to bring their dogs for the hunt. Cost for participation is a minimum $5 donation to the shelter. Following the hunt, the shelter will hold an Easter bonnet contest. Easter photos will also be taken by donation.

Greencastle

A Children’s & Maternity Consignment event will be held at Blue Heron Events, 407 S. Washington Street.  Public Sale:  March 22-23 10AM- 7PM; March 24 (select items 1/2 off) 8AM- Noon.  Visit twotimesaround.net for more information!

Mont Alto/Waynesboro

Waynesboro’s Got Talent is March 24 at 7PM. This showcase of grade school talent offers dance performances, singing, musical acts, and more.  Tickets for the event will be sold at the door.

Postponed for a later date to be announced On Saturday March 24, children ages 12 and younger can participate in the Community Easter egg hunt sponsored Mont Alto Fire Department. 12:30 PM activities, 1:30 PM egg hunt. Mont Alto Fire Department Events Complex carnival grounds, Mont Alto.  Activities include face painting, crafts, coloring, and pictures with the Easter Bunny.

Biglerville

Taylor’s Greenhouse will conduct a Pansy Fest, “Cultivate Kid Gardeners” workshop on Saturday March 24 from 10AM – 2PM. Young gardeners will decorate and plant a small planter.   Pansies, Violas, Pansy baskets and bowls will be showcased this weekend on March 24 & 25, 8AM – 5PM.

Rockhill Furnace

Easter Bunny Trolley will operate Saturday, March 24 from 10AM – 4:30PM.  Ride aboard a historic electric trolley car at the Rockhill Trolley Museum to Blacklog Narrows where the Easter Bunny will board your trolley to greet each passenger. All children 13 and under will receive a free gift. Fares are only $8 for all riders 2 years of age and older; those under age 2 are free.

 

Coming up next week:  On Thursday, March 29, 6PM – 8:30PM the public is invited to a Roller Skate Party at Red Bridge Roller Rink sponsored by the Shippensburg Community Parks and Recreation AuthorityStart your Easter Weekend with some Family-Friendly Fun, Music, Limbo, Hokey Pokey, Special Skates, Arcade, and Concessions!  $5 Per Skater or $1 Non-Skater (infants are free).
