Family Friendly New Year’s Eve Parties

Enjoy some family-friendly fun at these local and regional New Year’s Eve events!  The event at the State Museum of Pennsylvania will be held on Friday, December 30; all other events will be held Saturday, December 31.

Shippensburg

This New Year’s Eve, bring the family to downtown Shippensburg for the annual Drop the Anchor event.  The family-friendly community event, sponsored by the Shippensburg Rotary Club, will be held from 8 PM to midnight Saturday December 31st at the intersection of King and Earl streets.  There is no admission charge and the evening’s activities are FREE.  Entertainment will be provided by Phantom Shadow.  Family oriented fun including inflatable games and laser tag will be part of the evening’s activities.  At midnight, the anchor will be dropped and 2017 will be officially welcomed.

Stop in at The Harbor (55 W. King St) for their annual NYE Party.  Dance music will be playing on The Dock, hats and mocktails will be available.

Chambersburg

This Saturday, Dec 31, 2016 Red Bridge Roller Rink is having their annual New Year’s Eve Confetti Party from 8 PM – 12:30 AM.  Doors open at 7:45 PM.  Admission is $13 and the cost of skates will be $3. Parents can skate for free when accompanied with at least one child. Also, for immediate families of 5 or more children – you will pay for the first 4 (brothers and sisters only).  All children will receive noise makers and New Years hats.   Big Balloon Drop with prizes, free Popcorn.  Bring extra money for confetti ($.50/pack).

Lincoln Lanes Bowling Center is having a NYE Party. A family celebration from 6 PM – 9 PM and then an Adult celebration from 10 PM – 1 AM (BYOB and serving a Champagne toast).

Carlisle

First Night Carlisle is a family-oriented, non-alcoholic celebration of the arts held on New Year’s Eve on the streets of downtown Carlisle. The show kicks off at 5:00 PM on December 31 at the Carlisle Theatre and goes until midnight. Midnight brings the countdown, the dropping of the First Night button, and a fireworks display.  Simply purchase a $10 First Night Carlisle admission button before December 31 online, at the Carlisle Theatre box office, or at either Carlisle Giant Food Store locations. After you purchase the button, pin it to an outside layer of clothing so it can be easily seen. This will be your access pass into venues throughout the night.  Day-of buttons are $15 each.  Find the performers HereEnd your evening at the corner of West and High, ringing in the New Year with a fireworks spectacular.

Enjoy a NYE party at Midway Bowling. $65 a lane for up to six bowlers includes three hours of bowling, New Year’s gear and a balloon drop!

Carlisle Sports Emporium is open from 10 AM – 12 midnight on December 31st.  Receive $2 off any package 12/31.

Gettysburg

Gettysburg’s 18th Annual New Year’s Eve Celebration features music, fireworks, and entertainment for the entire family. All programs are free to the public.  At 7:30 PM at the Majestic Theater, 25 Carlisle St, celebrate New Year’s Eve with the free family movie The Princess Bride. Admission is free but reservations are requested and can be obtained by contacting or stopping by the Majestic Theater Box office, 337-8200. 12 Midnight: Fireworks display over Lincoln Square

Harrisburg

On Friday, December 30, 2016 from 10AM to 2 PM, young children and their families are invited to welcome the New Year during the annual “Noon Year’s Eve” celebration, at the State Museum of Pennsylvania, 300 North Street, Harrisburg. Make a craft, snack, dance, learn about music in nature and enjoy a performance by Steven Courtney.  The Museum’s famous firefly and balloon drop will be in Memorial Hall at 12:00 Noon. This family-friendly event is included with general admission.

New Year’s Eve Party for Children with the Popcorn Hat Players will be held Saturday, December 31 from 11 AM – Noon.  Event will be held at the Sunoco Performance Theater inside the Whitaker Center.  Join the Popcorn Hat Players for a New Year’s Eve Party with a countdown to noon. This year’s show is “Cinderella.” Tickets include admission to the show, noisemakers, party hats and a Hawaiian lei.

Hershey

Ring in 2017 at Hershey’s Chocolate World from 4 PM – 9 PM on December 31.  Join their DJ for family-friendly music and dance floor, hourly countdowns, and appearances from the Hershey’s Product Characters.
