FREE Tick Testing for all Pennsylvania Residents

The Tick Research Lab of Pennsylvania offers Free Basic Panel Tick Testing to all PA residents. PA Tick Research Lab is a university-affiliated lab based in East Stroudsburg, Pennsylvania that is dedicated to providing fast, laboratory-quality tick testing to people in high-risk areas for Lyme. Pennsylvania, unfortunately, leads the country in Lyme disease cases.
PA Tick Research Lab has an easy to use interface for ordering tick tests. Simply follow these steps to get your tick tested:
- Remove the tick from the host and place it in a sealed plastic bag.
- Go here to order your test.
The basic panel is free for Pennsylvania residents and tests for the top four pathogens most relevant to your tick species. This includes the Powassan virus for deer ticks and Tularemia for non-deer ticks. Go here for advanced panel pricing as well as pricing for out of state residents.
- Mail your tick to the East Stroudsburg laboratory.
- Your results will be ready within 72 hours.
Recently Ship Saves mailed a tick specimen to PA Tick Research Lab. Here are our results.
We ordered the basic panel (free) and mailed the tick to the laboratory using the U.S. Postal Service. Three days later, a text message stated the tick was received and undergoing testing. The text also identified the tick specimen as an American dog tick.
The following day, a message was received that the specimen tested negative for the presence of Lyme disease, ehrlichiosis, tularemia, and Rocky Mountain spotted fever.
