Shippensburg

First Fridays return this week! The community is invited to stop by Shippensburg Station for live music and food trucks on April 1 from 4:30 PM to 8 PM. Ship First Fridays also have all your favorite local artisans on-site as part of the Shippensburg Art Market. The Shippensburg Station is located at the trailhead of the Cumberland Valley Rail Trail at the corner of Fort and Earl Streets. The event is free – food and drinks are sold on-site.


Shippensburg

This Saturday, April 2, spend the evening at the Shippensburg Firefighters Activity Center (33 W. Orange Street) with Cumberland Valley Hose Company #2 and win some meat. Doors open at 4 PM, the meal at 5 PM, and the raffle start at 6 PM. Unlimited beverages (adult ones, too) and dessert are also included. Special rounds, meat bundles, snack raffles, 50/50, and small games of chance.


Shippensburg

The Shippensburg University Wind Ensemble and Concert Band will present a concert on Sunday, April 3, at 3 PM in the Luhrs Performing Arts Center. Free admission; no ticket is required. The band is composed of non-music majors dedicated to the performance of exemplary traditional and contemporary wind band literature.  Directors are Trever R. Famulare and Aaron Trumbore. 

 

Shippensburg

A Smith’s Chicken BBQ to support the Shippensburg Greyhound football players will be held in the Rita’s Ice Parking lot at 10016 Molly Pitcher Hwy, Shippensburg, on Sunday, April 3, from 11 AM to 1:30 PM. Baked goods will also be available by donation. Meal ($14) includes 1/2 chicken, baked potato, baked beans, roll with butter, and applesauce or macaroni salad.


Walnut Bottom

Saturday, April 2, is Trinity Fellowship’s Spring Bloom Craft Show, from 8 AM to 2 PM. Many homemade, handcrafted items of all kinds, an extensive breakfast and lunch menu, and bargains from Trinity’s Clothing Closet. There is plenty of free parking too. Trinity Fellowship Center is located at 110 West Main Street (Walnut Bottom Road, Rt. 174) in the village of Walnut Bottom.



Roxbury

There is public skating at the Blue Mountain Skating Rink on Friday evenings from 7-9 PM. $4 admission and $1 skates. Children under 6 are free and non-skating adults are free as well. The Blue Mountain Skating Rink is located 1 mile west of Roxbury, on Rt 641.


Chambersburg

The Chambersburg Ballet presents its inaugural Dance-a-thon, held on Sunday, April 3, from 2 PM to 5 PM at Wilson College’s Laird Hall. Students and company dancers will perform 24 pieces from classical to modern styles, featuring solos, ensembles, and pas de deuxes. Each piece has been choreographed by students of the Chambersburg Ballet Theatre (CBT) School or by trainees or dancers of its affiliated performing company, The Chambersburg Ballet. Friends, family, and the public are invited to drop in or stay for the entire event to see these young dancers express their creativity and energy through dance. Dance-a-thon is free to the public.


Chambersburg

Nitterhouse Masonry Products will open its Outlet on Saturday, April 2, 2022. It will continue to be open every Saturday from 8 AM-Noon throughout the season. The outlet offers deals on overruns, discontinued colors, and slightly blemished concrete products. Nitterhouse Outlet is located across from the production facility on Route 11 and just up the street from Nitterhouse Concrete, located at 2655 Molly Pitcher Hwy South, Chambersburg.


Chambersburg

The Wilson College Veterinary Medical Technology (VMT) Club will host a dog wash from 8 AM to 4 PM on Saturday and Sunday, April 2 and 3, 2022, in the Veterinary Education Center. The dog washes are open to the public, and no appointment is necessary. The cost is $10 for small dogs, $15 for medium dogs, $20 for large dogs, and $25 for extra-large or double-coated dogs. The price includes ear cleaning, nail trim, bath, blow-dry — all of which will be performed by VMT Club members — and a bandana. In addition, owners must present a paper copy of their dog’s rabies vaccination. There will be signs on campus and arrows to follow to find the Veterinary Education Center (VEC). Club members will also be doing curbside service to reduce the number of people coming into the VEC.


Chambersburg

Chambersburg

Downtown Chambersburg Inc. invites you to taste your way through downtown at their International Food Crawl on April 2 from 1 PM to 5 PM. Participating businesses are Veroni Cafe, Falafel Shack, Jordyn’s Caffe, La Joya Mexican Restaurant, Taqueria La Esquinita, Mikey’s Mini Donut, Bori Delicias, Gardens by Grace, Roy Pitz Beer Stube, Sabor Rican, and Webb’s Sports Bar. Waynesboro

Mason-Dixon Council (MDC) of Boy Scouts of America hosts a free fishing derby on Sunday, April 3, from 11 AM – 4 PM at Red Run Park, 12143 Buchanan Trail E. There will be free food, fishing (in a stocked pond), games, and activities. Units from MDC will have stations set up for youth to complete activities. In addition, they will have information about meeting dates and times for Cub Scouting.


Gettysburg

Land of Little Horses will open for the Spring season on Saturday, April 2. The 100-acre farm park will open on Saturdays and Sundays through May 29. Then, beginning May 30, they are open seven days a week through Labor Day. At Land of Little Horses, you will find miniature horses, ponies, horses, a camel, alpacas, sheep, goats, deer, peacocks, pigs, and more! In addition, the arena show, The Mane Event, features performing animals. For pricing, visit their website. Hours are 10 AM – 5 PM.


Halifax

Lake Tobias offers a drive-thru safari tour on select weekends in April. Visitors are invited to stay in their own vehicles as they drive through the safari field and see the animals. Take a tour of the safari fields between 10 AM and 3 PM on seven dates – April 2 & 3, 9 & 10, 16, 23 & 24, 2022. The price of the pre-season drive-thru is $8 per person ages three and up. Admission to the park is not an option as the zoo’s exhibits are open for the season on May 1, 2022. Read more about the event on the Lake Tobias website HERE. Lake Tobias Wildlife Park is located at 760 Tobias Drive in Halifax, just off Route 225 in central Pennsylvania near Fisherville.


Harrisburg

Maple Sugar Festival will be held Sunday, April 3 at Fort Hunter Park, 5300 North Front Street from Noon to 4 PM.  As winter ends and spring begins the maple sap begins to flow.  Maple syrup making, taste tests, Native American sugar making, tree tapping, and candy making.  Many children’s activities and delicious PA maple products are for sale. This event is FREE for everyone.

 


Hershey

Hersheypark Springtime in the Park features 40 rides, entertainment, games, and food on three weekends, April 2-3, 9-10 & 15-17. Hours are 11 AM to 7 PM. Note:  Hershey Park is now a cashless venue. All major credit cards, Hersheypark gift cards, Apple Pay, Samsung Pay, and Google Pay will be accepted. For ticket prices, go here. Tickets to the park also include access to ZooAmerica North American Wildlife Park. Springtime in the Park parking fee is $20 for regular passenger vehicles purchased online or $25 in person at the parking booth.
