Here’s a list of opportunities to get out and about this weekend in South Central PA!

Shippensburg

A Spaghetti dinner to benefit Better Days Animal League will be held Friday, April 6 at Memorial Lutheran Church (Corner of Penn & Orange Streets).  Eat in or take out from 5PM – 7PM – reservations not required. $7 Adult/$5 Children.

The opening reception of Starlight is Friday April 6, at the SHAPE Gallery, 19 East King downtown Shippensburg.  Starlight is an exhibition of photographs featuring unique views of the night sky, which New York-based photographer Stan Honda documents when most people are asleep.

All area children are invited to a Children’s Fair & Egg Hunt on Saturday, April 7, 2018 at Shippensburg University. Various games, face painting, bounce houses, and activities will take place from 11AM to 1PM on the front lawn, the fountain area in front of Old Main. Due to the weather forecast for Saturday, the Children’s Fair will be held in Heiges Field House. The egg hunt will take place in Ship Rec. FREE admission!  Egg Hunt times:  3 yrs. & under: 12:30PM – 12:45PM; 4-7 yrs.; 12:45PM – 1PM; 8 yrs. & up; 1PM – 1:15PM.

The Long’s Family Donuts Truck will be set up at West End Office Complex on Saturday, April 7 from 8AM – 1PM.  Donuts can be pre-ordered by texting Andrea at 717-552-7495 or messaging the Long’s Family Catering & Donuts Business Page.  Payment can be made the day of the event (Cash or Card accepted).

Antiques Show & Sell is an appraisal show and auction designed to benefit Katie’s Place in Shippensburg.  The April 7 event will be held at the Beistle Company from 10AM – 5PM.  Enjoy a fun-filled day of an auction, appraisals, hobby demonstrations, repurpose contest, food concession and more.

Cumberland Valley Hitmen take on the Predators at home (Veterans Memorial Park) Sat, April 7 at 1PM!  FREE admission and concession stand will be open.

Cancelled:  Shippensburg Kids Event Committee presents Easter at the Gazebo on April 7, 11AM – 3PM.  Games, Balloon Pop, Egg Race, Egg Toss, Pick an Egg.  Bonnet Contest at 2PM. 

Roxbury

Roxbury Camp’s Kids Trout Derby is Saturday, April 7, 2018. Registration starts at 10AM with the Derby from Noon – 3PM. Kids ages 12 and under are invited to fish – prizes will be awarded.

Newville/Carlisle/Mechanicsburg

Big Spring Theatre Productions and the Big Spring Music Department will present Phantom of the Opera, 6 shows over two weekends.  Online tickets here.

Dickinson College will host a science open house, Science Spectacular on Saturday, April 7 from 6PM – 10PM in Tome Hall, Rector Science Complex, located on Louther Street between Cherry and College streets in Carlisle.  The annual science night features planetarium shows, physics demonstrations, and more! This event is free and open to everyone.

Springfest is April 7, 9AM – 3PM at the Carlisle Expo Center and will feature music, games and activities for children, food, and a variety of arts & crafts, vendors. Free admission. 

Mechanicsburg Sportsman’s Association (493 Sample Bridge Road, Enola) is hosting a Children’s Fish Derby on Saturday, April 7, 2018 for children ages 4 – 14.  Registration starts at 8AM.  Fishing from 9AM – 1PM.  This is a free event and open to the public.

Mont Alto

This event is now Cancelled.  A Community Easter egg hunt sponsored Mont Alto Fire Department will take place April 7 at 2PM (weather permitting). Mont Alto Fire Department Events Complex carnival grounds, Mont Alto.

Chambersburg

Wilson College’s modern dance ensemble, Orchesis, will present its annual spring performance on Friday and Saturday, April 6 and 7, in Laird Hall. Performances will be held at 7PM on Friday and Saturday, with a Saturday matinee at 2PM. Tickets are available at the door and prices are $10 for general admission and $3 for students with I.D. and seniors. Children under 12 get in free.

The Cumberland Valley Philatelic Society will hold its Spring Stamp Expo on Saturday April 7 from 10AM – 5PM at the Chambersburg Recreation Center, 235 South 3rd St, Chambersburg. The Expo is free and open to the public.

Hershey

Springtime In The Park is open weekends March 30 through April 15. Enjoy a sweet day filled with thrills on 50 rides, including 13 coasters. Plus, catch up with your favorite Hershey’s Characters, visit ZooAmerica, and more.  Regular admission is $35.95 and parking for cars is $9.

Maryland

Visit a sweet display of Marshmallow Masterpieces at Carroll Arts Center in Westminster, MD.  The 11th Annual PEEPShow will be held from March 29 to April 10, 2018.  The event features over 150 sculptures, dioramas, graphic arts, oversized characters and mosaics created and inspired by PEEPS!  The show is open 10AM – 7PM Sunday – Thursday and 10AM – 9PM Friday – Saturday.  Admission is FREE but visitors may buy voting chips to vote for your favorite display. Enjoy PEEP treats and souvenirs including official Peeps & Co merchandise in the gift shop too.
