Shippensburg/Newburg/Roxbury

New Date:  The car show has been cancelled for July 9 and rescheduled for Sunday September 11, 2022. Join the Route 11 Cruz’n at Memorial Park for the return of their car show and see some of the coolest vehicles in the area! The Rock’n The Park Car Show will be held from 8 AM to 3 PM at Shippensburg Memorial Park on July 9 to benefit the Park. Spectators are free. Registration 8-11 AM, Participant judging 11 AM – 1 PM, Awards 2:30 PM, $10 donation day of the event, No pre-registration, Craft & Direct Sales Vendors, Food Vendors, 50/50, Door Prizes, Dash Plaques to the First 100 Cars, Music (DJ)

The Rural Life Festival provides a window into Pennsylvania’s past. The event is presented by Newburg United Methodist Church and will be held Saturday, July 9, 2022, from 9 AM to 3 PM at 203 N. High St., Newburg. Admission and parking are free. Visitors will see various demonstrations, displays, and old-time activities. In addition, discover how food was prepared in the past with demonstrations of Scrapple Making, Fresh Apple Cider Making, Black Kettle Bean Soup, Kettle Corn, and Bread Baking. Children will enjoy a barrel train ride, a petting zoo, a kids’ maze, and more children’s activities! Homemade foods will be sold, including Donuts, Chicken Bar-B-Q, Sandwiches, Soups, Hand-cut French Fries, Ice Cream, and Pretzels.

Mountainside Market, a homemade/produce market, takes place at the Roxbury Lions Club grounds every Saturday from 8 AM to 1 PM throughout the summer. In addition, there will be Community Yardsales on July 8 and 9. If you would like to set up and be a yardsale/craft vendor, outside spaces are $10 and inside spaces are $15. The inside spaces may leave items set up overnight. Smith’s BBQ will be set up on Saturday at 10 AM until gone ($14 Chicken BBQ Dinners).

A Cash BINGO supporting Reins of Rhythm will be held on Sunday, July 10 at 1 PM. Donation is $25/ticket with a light lunch included. There will be 25 games with a $100 payout each, and the last game (additional fee required) will be a 50/50 game. In addition, the event includes raffles, other small games of chance, and a bake sale. The doors will open at 11 AM, with games beginning at 1 PM. Join Grand Point Church Shippensburg on Sunday, July 10, for Food Truck Sunday! This is open to the community. The food trucks will be set up in the parking lot (246 S. Fayette Street) from 11 AM to 2 PM. Food and drinks range from $3-$10. Food trucks include Peculiar Pizza, Redemption BBQ, Amor de Madres Columbian Cuisine, and Funnel N Around.


Fayetteville

The Arts & Crafts Fair at Caledonia State Park will be held Saturday, July 9, from 9 AM to 4 PM. Approximately 150 crafters and artists will have a variety of crafts ranging from wood carvings, pottery, baskets, wreaths, stained glass, walking sticks, folk art, needlework, custom leather, handcrafted furniture, and more. There is no admission fee. Caledonia State Park is located off Rt. 30 at 101 Pine Grove Road, Fayetteville, PA. This is a rain or shine event.

Greencastle

Sidewalk Days takes place on Friday, July 8, and Saturday, July 9, in and around Greencastle Square. The annual Greencastle Sidewalk Days feature sales at downtown stores, street-side vendors, community groups, food, Kids’ Zone, and entertainment. There is ample parking on the side streets, at the Jerome King Playground, and in the Borough Parking lot. Hours: Friday from 10 AM to 8 PM and Saturday from 9 AM to 4 PM.

Newville/Carlisle

The 2022 Newville Lions Club Community Fair will be held nightly, beginning at 5:30 PM on four evenings – July 6, July 7, July 8, and July 9. Enjoy good food, pageants, games, inflatables, fireworks (July 8), and entertainment. Saturday, July 9, is the tractor/truck pull. The Newville Lions Fairgrounds is located on Route 533 at 433 Shippensburg Road. There is free admission every night.

The Amani Festival is a one-day multi-cultural festival in downtown Carlisle on July 9, 10 AM – 7 PM. Amani means “peace” in Swahili. The festival will include arts & crafts vendors, ethnic food, a beer & wine garden, live music, a pet path, a children’s alley, and more. (The Amani Festival was scheduled for downtown Carlisle on May 7 but was postponed until July because of weather).

The Bluegrass on the Grass Festival is held in Carlisle on July 9, 12 PM to 8 PM, rain or shine. This free event is held on the Academic Quad lawn at Dickinson College. It features a variety of music acts, food vendors (from bratwurst to Thai food and ice cream), and non-alcoholic drinks, including smoothies. You can start setting up blankets and lawn chairs at 8 AM.

The Cumberland Drive-In Theatre will be open Friday through Sunday, July 8 – 10. For more information, go to https://www.81fun.com. Admission: $10 for adults, $4 for children ages 3-12, and free for children under 3.

 

Chambersburg

The Franklin County Fair will be held July 10 -16 at the Chambersburg Rod and Gun Club at 3725 Warm Spring Road. Admission to the county fair will be free in 2022 with a $5-per-vehicle parking fee from 4 – 9 PM Monday – Thursday and a $10-per-vehicle parking fee 3 – 9 PM Friday and Saturday. New this year is a Cowboy Church with Liberty Horse Freestyle, Trail Challenge, and Tack Swap on Sunday, July 10 at 9:30 AM. For a complete schedule of events, visit franklincountyfair.org.

There will be an outdoor fundraising event, Backyard Bash, to benefit Capitol Theatre Center with The Reagan Years, food trucks, beer, wine, and non-alcoholic drinks. No one under the age of 21 will be admitted. ID Required. A&K Settlements sponsor the event.

The Summer Concerts at Chambersburg Memorial Park Kiwanis Band Shell are free and continue all summer. So bring your favorite chairs and blankets, food, and non-alcoholic beverages, and pick a spot on the lawn to enjoy local acts from the region. Most concerts are Thursdays and Sundays beginning at 7 PM and are one 1-hour in length. View the dates HERE.

Head to the North Square Farmers Market at Chambers Fort Park in downtown Chambersburg between 8 AM and Noon on Saturdays. Fresh veggies, baked goods, meats, cheeses, flowers, pizza, breakfast sandwiches, chicken meals, live music, etc.

Scoop-a-Palooza will be held on Saturday, July 9, at the Chambersburg Area Senior High School cafeteria from 10:30 AM-2 PM. Scoop-a-Palooza is an all-you-can-eat ice cream festival where attendees sample flavors from local ice cream shops and vote on their favorites. The event also offers fun kid activities and features a Human Sundae event at 12:30 PM. In addition, the event is part of the annual Chamberfest activities from July 9-16, 2022. All proceeds benefit the Greater Chambersburg Chamber Foundation. The Kids Bowl Free Summer Bowling Program is available in South Central PA. Each participating location has Program Days to receive FREE Games of Bowling All Summer long! Each bowling alley has its own start and finish dates and age restrictions.

Waynesboro

Mainstreet Waynesboro’s Market at the Park is Saturday, July 9, 8:30 AM-Noon at 25 E. Main St with over 35 vendors.

Waynesboro’s summer concert series at Main Street Park, 25 E. Main Street, Waynesboro, continues on Saturday, July 9, with Bobby D. & The Truckstop Burritos. Enjoy an evening of food, music, and fun! Admission is $5.

Biglerville/Gettysburg

Hollabaugh Farms is celebrating with a Blueberry Festival on July 9 and July 10, Noon – 4:30 each day. The event features fresh blueberries and samples, homemade baked goods, blueberry ice cream, Pick-Your-Own Blueberries, wagon rides, yard games, and a fun kids’ activity. This year’s live music will be from country singer/songwriter Austin Rife on Saturday and Willys duo playing acoustic rock on Sunday. B&L Dogz will be on site. 

Pick-your-own blueberries, sour cherries, and sweet cherries, at Boyer Nurseries & Orchards. Bring containers to take your harvest home. Cash, check, and all forms of credit cards are accepted. Boyer Nurseries & Orchards also has an evergreen hedge maze you can explore for free.

Fannettsburg

Fannettsburg Fest is Saturday, July 9. Fannettsburg Fest is an annual festival sponsored by Metal Township Fire and Ambulance #21 and features live music from Make Mine Country Band, good food, carnival games, bingo, dunk tank, a petting zoo and train rides, face painting, and more. Fireworks will be at 9:15 PM.
