Here’s a list of opportunities to get out and about this weekend in Shippensburg and Beyond!

Shippensburg

Jungle Jack Hanna returns to Luhrs Center with his amazing show of interesting and unusual animals! Friday, February 26, 2016 – 7:30 PM Tickets: $37, $33, $27 & $23

Fairy Garden Classes will be held Friday, Feb 26 4:30 pm & Saturday, Feb 27 10 am at Maplewood Produce and Greenhouse.    (Sign Up by Thursday, Feb 25)  $20 Sign up fee includes 3 mini plants and soil. Bring your own containers (old pottery, suitcases, purses, etc)  Also available for purchase accessories, stones, moss and a large variety of new miniature plants.

On Friday Feb. 26 8am – 8pm & Sat. Feb. 27th 8am – 2pm, Dutch Country Store will have 10% off storewide in-stock items only! Celebrate their 15th anniversary with free coffee and samples, homemade baked goods, and some items 15% off to celebrate their 15 years.

The Local Gathering will be holding Silly Saturdays with Weird Animals on February 27. This is like a VBS but two items are different Parent/Guardian must also attend with children and instead of a snack lunch will be provided!  10:15 registration: 10:30am-12:30pm Bible Time; Craft; Full Lunch; and Games. Ages 3 years to Fifth grade.  The whole family is welcome.  The Local Gathering is located at 611 Shippensburg Rd (RT696 3 miles past the University).

The Book Nook at the Shippensburg Public Library has all children’s books buy one get one free in February. Also any library discards are $.75 each. The books are gently used and/or library discards. Go here for hours of operation.

Roxbury

The Blue Mountain Skating Rink is located 1 mile west of Roxbury, PA on Rt 641.  The roller skating rink is open for public skating on Friday evenings from 7-9 PM Admission is only $3 and skate rentals are $1.  Kids 6 and under are FREE and non-skating adults are FREE.

Scotland

A Toy, Train and Doll Show sponsored by Cumberland Valley Model Railroad Club and Sandy & Billy’s Toybox will be held Sunday, Feb. 28 9 am -2 pm, Early birds 8 am at the Scotland Community Center, 3832 Main St. Scotland.  Light breakfast and lunch food available; Admission $2.50, Early birds $5, Under 12 free.

Chambersburg

Winter Bounce Festival at the Chambersburg Mall, 3055 Black Gap Road on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays February 26 – 28 and March 4 – 6, 11 – 13. A majority of the amusement rides will be for ages 12 and under, but there will be a few all age attractions. Also available for purchase will be Make Your Own Stuffy Bears, Face Painting, Air Brush Tattoos, and Personalized Name Art.  Ages 3 and up $10; Ages 2 and under $5; Full Month Pass $100

Chambersburg Area Middle School South will present Beauty and the Beast Jr. this weekend at CAMS South auditorium, 1151 E. McKinley St., Chambersburg.  For tickets ($8) contact natalie.hedrick@casdonline.org or call 717-261-3385, or at the door.

Hagerstown

The Hagerstown Suns will hold auditions for National Anthem singers on Saturday February 27, 2016 11 am – 1 pm at the Valley Mall in Hagerstown, MD within the Food Court area. The Sing for the Suns National Anthem Auditions will be an opportunity for anyone in the community to showcase their amazing talent for the chance to be featured during a Hagerstown Suns home game.

 

Hershey

Zoo America has $5.50 Fridays where all visitors get in for $5.50 every Friday during the winter through March 18, 2016.  Admission is regularly $11 per person for ages 9-54, $9 for ages 3-8 & 55+, and free for ages 2 and under.
