Here’s a list of opportunities to get out and about this weekend!

Shippensburg

The Book Nook is having a Big Sale on July 6th-8th!  All Media is Buy One Get One FREE.  Select adult books are $.25.  Select children’s books are $.10!  The Book Nook is a used book store located adjacent to the Shippensburg Public Library.

Newburg

Spend a day in the past at the annual Rural Life Festival in Newburg on Saturday, July 8th.  The Rural Life Festival is presented by Newburg United Methodist Church, 203 North High Street (3 miles from exit 201 of the PA Turnpike).  Admission and parking are FREE for the event, which is held from 9AM – 3PM rain or shine.

Fayetteville

The 35th Annual Arts & Craft Fair at Caledonia State Park will be held Saturday, July 8 from 9AM to 4PM.  Free Admission.  Caledonia State Park is located off Rt. 30 at 101 Pine Grove Road.

Train rides at Norlo Park will be continue on Saturday, July 8.  The miniature train, complete with a cattle car and caboose, is FREE to ride on Saturdays from 1PM – 4PM!  It is open to riders of all ages.  Last Train boards at 3:50PM.  Donations are accepted.

Greencastle

The 50th Annual Greencastle Sidewalk Days will be here July 7 & 8.  The annual Sidewalk Days features sales at downtown stores, streetside vendors, community groups, food and entertainment in and around the Greencastle Square.  Sidewalk Days takes place from 8AM-8PM on Friday, July 7 and from 8AM-4PM on Saturday, July 8th.

Newville

The 2017 Newville Lions Club Community Fair will be held on 3 evenings – July 6, July 7, and July 8.  Enjoy good food, games, rides, and entertainment.  Food court opens each evening at 5:30PM.  Free Admission every night.  Annual Fireworks Show will take place on Friday, July 7th at 10 PM.

The Cumberland Valley Tractor Pullers Association will hold a tractor pull on July 8, 6:30PM during the Newville Fair. FREE gate admission.

Carlisle

Dickinson College will host the Annual Bluegrass on the Grass Festival on Saturday, July 8th, from Noon – 8PM. The lawn can be accessed starting at 8AM on the day of the festival. Bring lawn chairs and blankets. A wide array of vendors will sell food ranging from french fries to Thai food, plus non-alcoholic drinks. Festival is held rain or shine.

Cumberland Drive-In Theatre is showing Despicable Me 3 and Spider-Man: Homecoming Friday through Sunday, July 7th-9th.   Gates open at 7PM.  First feature begins at approximately 9:15PM.

Chambersburg

North Square Farmers Market is open from 8AM – Noon on Saturday mornings until October 21.  You will find local produce, cheeses, fresh-cut flowers, baked goods, handmade soaps and body products, locally roasted coffee and specialty foods like gourmet popcorn.  Look for the market tents behind King Street Church!

Chick-fil-A Chambersburg is offering a FREE small Hand-spun Milkshake on Saturdays in July.  Enjoy a FREE Milkshake on Saturdays in July from 5PM – 7PM at Chick-fil-A Chambersburg!  One offer per customer.

ChambersFest Events

ChambersFest kicks-off this Friday, July 7 and lasts through Saturday, July 15.  Here are this weekend’s events.

Celebrate the first Friday at the 3rd annual Stars, Stripes & Straws from 5PM – 8PM.  You can purchase your official drink glass on the Courthouse Plaza starting at 5PM, walk around to participating businesses to sample their summer beverage, then vote for your favorite.

Saturday, July 8 begins with the 14th Annual Tim & Susan Cook Memorial 1-Mile Race.  Proceeds from this race are donated to the Tim & Susan Cook Memorial Scholarship Fund, which provides scholarships to students at Chambersburg Area Senior High School.

Check out ChambersFest Bike Day on Saturday and compete in any of two bicycle events: Pump Track Race and Jump Line Contest. Adults and kids age six and up are welcome to participate.

Scoop-A-Palooza is the all you can eat ice cream festival to benefit the Greater Chambersburg Chamber Foundation held in the Cafeteria of Chambersburg Area Senior High School on July 8 from 11AM – 3PM.  Once you enter the festival you can sample all the ice cream you want from a variety of area shops.  Also setup at the event will be a kids’ area with a variety of fun activities.  Manitowoc Cranes sponsors a crane-building contest for kids.

Chambers Fort Park will host music and dinosaurs at Second Saturday from 5PM to 8PM.  Local band Pale Barn Ghosts will perform with opener Rebekah Foster. Then at dusk is a FREE showing of the classic dinosaur thriller “Jurassic Park” (1993).
