Shippensburg

The town of Shippensburg will come together on May 6 4PM – 9PM for our First Friday event!  First Friday is dedicated to bringing together artists, the public, and businesses for a greater appreciation of the arts and the development of a strong downtown.  Downtown businesses will be opening their doors to live music, giving away prizes, and having special promotions.  Each participating business will be giving away raffle tickets. The more locations you go to, the more tickets you can get, the more chances you have to win at great prizes donated by local businesses. Prizes will be set up at The Thought Lot.

SHAPE’s 11th Annual Member Exhibit starts this Friday, May 6 from 6-8 PM.  Come see artwork from over 20 different artists.  The opening reception on May 6th is one of the events for Shippensburg’s First Friday event.  Live music featuring Tyler Michael Law.  Refreshments.

Southampton Cumberland Twp. Park and Rec. will host The Lollipop Shop 5th Annual Car, Truck, & Motorcycle Show to benefit Special Needs Children of Shippensburg Area Schools.  It will be held May 7, 2016 9 AM to 2 PM (rain date May 8). 50 Dash Plaques, Trophies – Raffle Table, Food, and DJ. Free admission. Vehicle registration fee – $7.00 per vehicle.

Southampton Cumberland Twp. Park and Recreation will host the 6th Virginian Company I at Southampton Cumberland Twp. (180 Airport Road) this weekend, May 6th – 8th. Come out and meet over 50 Confederate reenactors – and you can experience camp life, drills and live firing.  Bring the children and take a walk back in time to the 1860’s, interact with the soldiers and see how they slept, ate, fought and survived.  This event is free to the public! On Saturday Night, May 7 at Dusk, the Movie Gettysburg will be shown on the outdoor movie screen. Bring a lawn chair and watch the movie.

Newville

 Cumberland Drive-In Theatre, 3290 Ritner Highway, Newville, is open Friday – Saturday, May 6  & May 7.  Gates open at 7 p.m. First features begins at approximately 8:25 p.m. First Feature: Captain America: Civil War   Second Feature:  Jungle Book   $8 Adults;  $4 Children 3-12; FREE for Children Under 3.  Sunday, May 8 – Bonus Single Feature Captain America: Civil War.  Sunday’s admission includes one free small soda OR small popcorn!

Roxbury

The Blue Mountain Skating Rink is located 1 mile west of Roxbury, PA on Rt 641.  The roller skating rink is open for public skating this Friday, May 6 from 7-9 PM Admission is only $3 and skate rentals are $1.  Kids 6 and under are FREE and non-skating adults are FREE.

Chambersburg

Shalom Christian Academy’s 39th Annual DUTCHFEST will be held Friday, May 6 and Saturday, May 7.  Friday Hours – 5:00 pm to 9:00 pm, Saturday Hours – 7:30 am to 2:00 pm.  Free admission. This event offers family fun for everyone – Auction, Vendor area with Crafts, Children’s activities, and Food.  Children’s Activities:  Kids activities include bounce house, face painting, petting zoo, tractor pulled barrel ride, and more.  All Day wrist bands $6;  All Weekend wrist bands $10;Single Tickets 50¢ Crafts:  The craft show is located in the main lobby and gym areas on Friday evening from 5:00-9:00 and on Saturday from 8:00-2:00, and features a variety of vendors, including wooden toys, jewelry, soaps, floral arrangements, quilted items, ceramics, calligraphy, dolls, and teddy bears.  Auctions:  Dutchfest has a variety of Friday & Saturday auctions – Heifer, Quilt, General, & MORE. Shalom Christian Academy is located at 126 Social Island Road, Chambersburg, PA.

Chambersburg Noontime Lions Club is having their 19th Annual Trout Derby Saturday, May 7 & Sunday, May 8! Approximately $25,000 in regular prize money, 600 money fish with payouts ranging from $25 – $2,000, $30,000 Pre-Owned Vehicle Contest sponsored by Forrester Lincoln, Big Trout Contest with an estimated payout of nearly $2,000.  The Chambersburg Trout Derby is a way for the Chambersburg Noontime Lions to raise money to give back to the community. The funds raised through this derby assists in providing eyeglasses, eye screenings and other community projects to those less fortunate in the Chambersburg area.

25th Annual Fabric Fair sponsored by Salvation Army Women’s Auxiliary will be held May 4 – May 7, 2016 at North Pointe Business Center, 2620 Philadelphia Ave, Chambersburg. May 4th 8AM – 5 PM; May 5th 8AM – 5 PM; May 6th 8AM – 8 PM; May 7th 8AM – NOON.  Items to be available for sale are sewing machines, thread, crafts, buttons, lace, curtains and knitting supplies, ribbon, dolls and accessories, antiques, patterns, wool and cotton material by the bag, yarn, needlework and quilting supplies & more.

Friends of Legal Services begins its 3 day book sale Friday, May 6 at Laird Hall, Wilson College campus in Chambersburg.  The 32nd Annual Book Sale features more than 70,000 gently used books at bargain prices!  In addition, CDs, DVDs, books on tape, puzzles, and artwork will be for sale. Most paperbacks are just 50 cents, and hardbound books in like-new condition are just a couple of dollars. On Sunday, a brown paper grocery bag of books is just $5, and the 4th bag is free!   A Silent Auction of rare books will be held from 9 AM on May 6 until 5 PM on May 7 with winners being contacted on May 7 after 5 PM. 6th annual Blues, Brews & Barbecue benefits Capitol Theatre Center.  On May 7 1PM – 7 PM, rain or shine, outside at 159 S. Main St., Chambersburg,  three live bands, barbecue, beer and wine.  $10 admission, $7 for designated driver.  No pets.  For information and tickets, go here.

Carlisle

On Saturday, May 7th from 10 AM to 4 PM and Sunday, May 8th from NOON to 4 PM, Kings Gap is having a Native Plant Sale!  The plants come from local native plant nurseries and the Kings Gap garden. Cumberland County master gardeners and Kings Gap staff will provide answers to your gardening questions. The plant sale area will not open before 10 AM on Saturday.  The sale will be held at Kings Gap Environmental Education Center, 500 Kings Gap Road, Carlisle.

Just Like New is a children’s consignment event being held this week at Midway Skating Center, 1561 Holly Pike Carlisle.  Thursday, May 5th – 10:00 am – 7:00 pm – Public Sale; Thursday, May 5th – 10:00 am – 2:00 pm – Car Seat Inspection (FREE to the public); Thursday, May 5th – 10:00 am – 2:00 pm – Child ID Program (FREE to the public); Friday, May 6th – 10:00 am – 6:00 pm – Public Sale; Saturday, May 7th – 8:00 am – 11:15 am – Public Sale.

Mechanicsburg

On Friday, May 6th 8pm, Williams Grove Speedway,1 Speedway Dr, Mechanicsburg will have 410 Sprints Yellow Breeches 500 & 358 Sprints Gate admission $14, Youth $10, Kids 12 and under FREE.

Waynesboro

There will be a Jr. Fishing Rodeo at Red Run Lake, Saturday, May 7th 8 AM.   Children ages 4 to 15 are permitted to fish. This year’s event will run all day with adults being permitted to fish only when the association declares the rodeo over. This is a Free event sponsored by the Rouzerville Fish and Game Association.

Gettysburg

The 61st Annual Apple Blossom Festival will be held Saturday and Sunday May 7 & 8 9AM – 5 PM.  The Apple Blossom Festival is located at the South Mountain Fairgrounds.  Adults $5; Children under 12 are free; free parking. Highlights include live entertainment, orchard bus tours, wine tasting and sales, arts and crafts vendors, wagon rides, and agricultural exhibits. Children’s activities include apple pie eating and apple bobbing contests, petting zoo, pony ridges, puppet shows and magic shows.

Tipton

It is opening weekend at DelGrosso’s Amusement Park – Saturday, May 7th and Sunday, May 8th.  You can Ride for Free from 11am-1pm on Opening Day, Saturday, May 7!  All-Day Fun Passes will be Buy One, Get One FREE from 1 pm – Close on Saturday, May 7.  All-Day Fun Pass Regular Price: $21.95.  Moms Ride for just $10 on Mother’s Day – Sunday, May 8th.
