Here’s a list of opportunities to get out and about this weekend, September 21, 22, & 23!

For one day only, more than 1,250 museums across the country will offer free admission!  Museum Day is an annual celebration hosted by Smithsonian magazine.  A Museum Day ticket provides free admission for two people on Saturday, September 22, 2018.  To locate participating museums near you, click “Get A Ticket.”

SHIPPENSBURG/ORRSTOWN

Lurgan Greenhouse Fall Event & Customer Appreciation Days continue through Saturday September 22.  There will be door prizes, coffee & donuts, and bargain buy door-busters.

Join the Vigilant Hose Company for their Open House on September 22, 10AM – 4PM. Fire Truck Rides, Station Tours, Entertainment for Kids, and Fire Extinguisher training. Food available for purchase from The Wheelhouse Cafe.

On Saturday, September 22, 8AM-2PM shop the Yard/Craft/Vendor Sale at Mongul UB Church (2nd Location) at 593 Walnut Bottom Road, Shippensburg.

The Shippensburg Area Chamber of Commerce, D.O.I.T. (Downtown Organizations Investing Together) and SADCO (Shippensburg Area Development Corp.) will present the Shippensburg Beer & Wine Festival on Saturday, Sept. 22.  Enjoy beer & wine tastings, live music, games of chance, yard games & food!  Attendees to the Beer and Wine Festival MUST be 21 years or older and ID is required.  The event will be held at the Shippensburg Fair grounds from 1PM-5PM.

Franklin Fall Farm Fun Fest will be held Saturday, September 22, 10AM – 3PM at 203 Pinola Road (Musser Farm).  In addition to learning about the dairy farm, visitors will have the opportunity to travel by bus to Maplewood Farm Market, 8564 Olde Scotland Rd.  Farm Wagon Tours, Agriculture education, Milk a cow by hand, Free Parking & Admission, Free Milk, Free Ice Cream. Lunch available for purchase at the FFA Food Stand.

NEWVILLE/CARLISLE

Please join the staff and directors of the John Graham Library on Saturday, September 22 for the annual Fall Festival on the library grounds at 9 Parsonage Street from 9AM to 1PM. There will be activities for the children including hayrides, a town historical tour, a wide selection of fall mums, homemade baked goods, delicious food and refreshments.

Maple Lane Farm’s Corn Maze in Newville is open weekends.  The 4 acre Corn Maze is in the shape of the historic Laughlin Mill.  Search the maze for all 10 clue signs. In addition to exploring the maze, children will enjoy the corn pit.  Fun photo ops too!   Saturdays from 10AM-7PM, Sundays from 2PM-6PM.

The Annual M&T Bank Harvest of the Arts has art, music, theater, kids fun and great food.  The event on September 22 is Cumberland County’s largest Fall Juried Arts and Crafts Festival, 2 large food courts, live music, children’s activities, and the Meeting of the Marques-European Sports & Luxury car show.

The Pillars of Orthodoxy Church in Carlisle will host its 20th annual Greek Food Fest Saturday and Sunday, Sept. 22 & 23. Food: Greek cuisine, Gyro sandwiches, Souvlaki, pastries, Greek Coffee, Baklava ice cream.  Rain or Shine!

There will be a community event, WE CARE, hosted by the PULSE (prevent unnecessary loss through suicide education) task force of Cumberland and Perry counties on Saturday September 22 (Noon – 6PM) at the Carlisle Fairgrounds. Vendors, live music, food, kids activities, raffle and silent auction, yard sale, and remembrance tent.

Warehime’s Pumpkin Patch is opening for the Fall Season on Saturday, September 22.  The pumpkin patch (and FREE Sunflowers) is just a short distance from Meadowbrooke Gourds.  Hours:  Tuesdays, Thursdays, Fridays from 4PM-7PM, Saturdays from Noon-7PM and Sundays from Noon – 5PM.

CHAMBERSBURG

St. Mary Orthodox Church is having their annual food festival and yard sale on Saturday, September 22.  Greek Pastries and Bake Sale 10AM – 4PM. Food Festival 10AM -3PM with Greek, Middle Eastern, and Eastern European Cuisine. Yard Sale 8AM – 2PM (Indoors and Outdoors). Church Tours 9AM – 3PM.  New this year! Folk Dancing and Dinner 5PM-7PM. Greek, Romanian, Serbian, and other European Dances.

North Square Farmers Market at 50 N. Main Street, Chambersburg is Saturday, September 22 from 8AM to Noon

The 5th Annual Duck Derby presented by Patriot Federal Credit Union will be held on Saturday, September 22 in downtown Chambersburg to raise funds for downtown revitalization. More than 2,000 little rubber duckies will race down the Falling Spring Creek, over the falls and head to the finish line near the bridge in Chambers Fort Park. Ducks are $5 each or $25 for a Quack Pack of 6. Spectators are welcome to cheer their ducks to the finish line on September 22 at 2:30PM.

Vintage Market at the Old Red Barn’s Fall Festival is September 22.  From 9AM – 3PM, vendors, food, live music, and pony rides, and children’s activities.

Country Creek Produce Farm in Chambersburg opens September 22.  The farm’s attractions include “The Great Space Adventure” corn maze, jump pad, peddle track, quad mountain slides, u-pick pumpkins, hayrides, animals, pumpkin cannon, and more! 

On Sunday, September 23, 1-4PM Reins of Rhythm is having a Bowl-a-thon Fundraiser at Nellie Fox. Gift basket raffles, Food and fun, Meet Joey the miniature horse too.  $10 to bowl (shoe rental included).

MERCERSBURG

Stoner’s Dairy Farm & Corn Maze in Mercersburg offers plenty of weekend Fall activities for any age.  This year, the 5 acre corn maze is rain-forest themed.  Hayride, Petting zoo, Play Area too.  Friday evening, September 21 is a Flashlight Night.

Saunderosafest is September 22 from 10AM – 6PM.  Enjoy a day full of entertainment, crafts, and food vendors at Saunderosa Park in Mercersburg.  $3 a person.

DILLSBURG

At Paulus Orchards, you can celebrate fall harvest season on a farm.  On Saturdays 9AM-6:30PM & Sundays Noon-5:30PM, enjoy the 5 acre Corn Maze, Play Land, Wagon Ride, Pick-your-own apples, Pumpkin Patch, and more.

GETTYSBURG

On September 22, 7AM – 4PM, 115 vendors of fine quality antiques line the streets of downtown Gettysburg.

MECHANICSBURG

Ashcombe Farm and Greenhouse’s Fall Harvest Days kick off September 22.  Enjoy family friendly activities in the Fall themed event field. Wrist band passes available. Farm animals, games, corn boxes, slides, swings, knocker ball, hay jump, corn and hay bale maze.

MANHEIM

The Pennsylvania Renaissance Faire is held on the grounds of the Mount Hope Estate.  With over 90 stage shows daily, 20 Royal Kitchens and scores of artisan merchants with handcrafted wares, the Renaissance Faire invites guests to immerse themselves in the 35-acre village and experience the fantasy.  Each weekend will showcase a unique theme.  This weekend, September 22 & 23:  Time Travelers
