Here’s a list of opportunities to get out and about this weekend in & beyond Shippensburg!

SHIPPENSBURG

Katie’s Place Thrift Shop is open Thursday, Friday, and Saturday this week from 9AM – Noon.

The next Campfire Friday hosted by the Shippensburg Historical Society is June 21, 8PM.  Historian John Rudy will be the campfire speaker. Admission is free and s’mores will be provided.  This week come early for a Civil War walking tour at 7PM.

Celebrate the Solstice on Friday, June 21 at the Cumberland Valley Rail-Trail and run the first race (5K and 10K) of summer at 7PM.   Online registration is open and will close on Friday at 2PM.  Same day registration and packet pickup will begin at 5:30PM at the Shippensburg Township Park, 304 Britton Rd., Shippensburg,

The Shippensburg Benefit Auction at Cumberland Valley Produce Auction, 101 Springfield Road, Shippensburg is Saturday, June 22, 7AM – 4PM.  The auction supports the Clinic for Special Children’s work. Breakfast is at 7AM, auctions start at 8:30AM.  Handmade quilts, handcrafted furniture, wooden crafts, sporting goods, handmade toys and garden plants will be available for buyers at the auction.

ORRSTOWN

Lurgan Greenhouse is having a Summer Sale starting Friday, June 21.  All annuals and hanging baskets will be on sale. Poly furniture (including orders), nursery, and perennials will be 10% off. The sale will last two weeks or while supplies last.

CHAMBERSBURG/FAYETTEVILLE

The Chambersburg Aquatic Center is hosting Teen Night on Friday evening, June 21. All teens 13 & up can enjoy a fun evening of swimming, music, volleyball, and mini golf from 8-10PM! $5/person, $3/Chambersburg borough residents, and free to season pass holders.

North Square Farmers Market is located next to Chambers Fort Park and open every Saturday morning, 8AM to Noon.

The miniature train at Norlo Park will be up and running on Saturdays throughout Summer.  The miniature train, complete with a cattle car and caboose, is free to ride on Saturdays from 1PM to 4PM.  It is open to riders of all ages.  Donations are accepted.

The Marion Festival’s final night is Saturday June 22.  Food, Games, Kiddie Rides, and Entertainment (Make Mine Country Band).   Kitchen Opens at 4:30PM.

Duncan Holmes from Texas will be featured in a Free Concert at The Inn at Ragged Edge on Sunday, June 23 at 4PM.  Blind from birth, Duncan was involved with music throughout his education and received his Master of Music Education Degree.  Please call the Inn (717-496-8372) to reserve your seat.

Free concerts at Chambersburg Memorial Park Kiwanis Band Shell will continue all Summer long. View the dates HERE.

The Kids Bowl FREE Summer Bowling Program is available in South Central PA. Each participating location has Program Days to receive FREE Games of Bowling All Summer long!  Each bowling alley has its own start and finish dates and age restrictions.  Read more HERE.

MONT ALTO

The Mont Alto Volunteer Firemen’s Carnival continues through June 22.   Enjoy rides by Snyders Amusements, Entertainment, Bingo, Games, and Food at the Mont Alto Fire Company’s Events Complex, off of Route 997.  Fireworks will be held on Friday, June 21 (rain date June 22).

WAYNESBORO

Mainstreet Waynesboro’s Market at the Park is Saturday, June 22, 8:30AM – Noon at 25 E. Main St.  Produce, coffee, artisan cheese, farm-fresh milk and eggs, soaps, sandwiches, baked goods, flowers,  and Dawn and Dusk Donuts.

WALNUT BOTTOM

South Newton Fireman’s Fair in Walnut Bottom is June 20-22. Fair opens at 4PM each evening. The Fireworks are scheduled for Friday, June 21. Bands: Thursday night – Chris Woodward & Shindiggin (Country), Friday Night – The Cards (80’s Rock), Saturday Night – The Colt Wilbur Band.

CARLISLE

Cumberland Drive-In Theatre is showing Toy Story 4 and Aladdin, this weekend, June 21-23.  Gates open at 7PM. Double feature begins at approximately 9:10PM.

The Chevrolet Nationals will be held June 21-22 at the Carlisle Fairgrounds.  The event will feature more than 1,000 participants and everything under the General Motors umbrella.

BIGLERVILLE

Boyer Nurseries & Orchards offers pick-your-own sweet cherries ($3.25/lb) and pick-your-own blueberries ($2.25/lb). Bring containers to take your harvest home.  Picking hours during harvest season are Monday through Saturday, 7AM to 4:30PM  and Sunday, 11AM to 4:30PM.  While at Boyer Nurseries & Orchards explore their evergreen hedge maze for FREE. It is located across the street from their farm market on Boyer Nursery Road in Biglerville.

Kid’s Night at Hollabaugh’s Bros. is Friday evening, June 21, 6-8PM.  Children will enjoy ice cream, wagon rides, lawn games, board games, scavenger hunts, a watermelon seed spitting contest, a marshmallow building station, sketch kits, a friendship bracelet station, and more! Cost: $4/child (parents are free). No registration is required.

BEDFORD

On June 22 and 23, Old Bedford Village is having a Wild West Weekend!  Go back to the days of the Old West with gunfights, bank raids, poker games, and more.

HARRISBURG

The State Museum is inviting visitors to pay what they wish for general admission on Fridays beginning on Friday, June 21, and continuing through Friday, August 23.  Regular planetarium admission rates ($3 per person) will still apply.
