Family Friendly Events

Fall Festival at Reins of Rhythm Riding & Horsemanship, 4035 McClays Mill Rd, Shippensburg will be held Saturday, November 7th 9 am – 2 pm.  Fall games & activities, vendors for Christmas shopping, bake sale, food table, pony rides, super hero horses demonstration.  Suggested donation of $4/child (2 and under free).

Join your friends from WITF and Peg+Cat at Shippensburg University for a free family event on November 7th 9am – 11am! This event is specifically designed for children 3-8. Younger and older siblings welcome.  Meet Peg+Cat and get a cool explorer bag with activities for home.  Space is limited. Please RSVP using this ticket link.

Chambersburg Community Theatre will present the musical The Wizard of Oz, at the Capitol Theatre, 159 S. Main St. November 6 – 8 & November 13 – 15.  Based on the 1939 MGM classic musical of L. Frank Baum’s story. For showtimes & ticket prices go here.

The Franklin County Therapeutic Riding Center (TRC) will be hosting Healing for the Holidays at 181 Franklin Farm Lane, Chambersburg on Saturday 11/7 from 10 am to 3 pm. Pony Rides, Carriage Rides, Free Photos with Santa, Bake Sale, Face Painting and Games for kids. Christmas Bazaar from 10 am to 6 pm on Saturday 11/7 and from 1 pm to 5 pm on Sunday 11/8 (holiday home decor and ornaments of varying prices including items in a children’s budget to give parents & grandparents).

Shippensburg’s 2015 Veterans Day parade will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 8, on King Street.

On Saturday, November 7, 2015, USA Hockey and over 300 local associations across the country will host Try Hockey For Free Day, presented by KraftHeinz! Participating locations encourage kids, ages 4 to 9, to come try youth hockey as part of Come Play Hockey Month. All locations will have limited equipment available for use. Craft Shows & Holiday Bazaars

November 6

On Friday November 6th, Menno Haven is having a Holiday Bazaar featuring Handmade Crafts & Baked Goods by Residents, Staff, & Community Vendors.  The Bazaar will be held from 9 am -2 pm at Menno Village, 2075 Scotland Ave., Chambersburg (Nursing Center ~ Chapel).

November 7

Corpus Christi’s Holiday Craft Fair will be held November 7, 2015 from 8 am – 3 pm.  22 vendors and a variety of unique hand sewn items, crafts, jewelry, home decor, books, baked goods and much more. Enjoy breakfast sandwiches in the morning, lunch and desserts from 10:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.

Carlisle Christmas Craft Show at the Carlisle High School, 623 W. Penn Street, Carlisle (the gym and cafeteria ) will be on Saturday, November 7, 2015 9 am – 3 pm. Over 200 crafters and vendors.  Free Admission.

Shippensburg Church of the Nazarene is having a Craft Show with 27 Craft Vendors at Premier Events, Shippensburg. Saturday, November 7th 8 am – 2 pm. Smiths BBQ Chicken Dinners from 10 am – 2 pm.

Green Grove Gardens Annual Christmas Craft Show is Saturday, November 7, 2015 from 9 am – 3 pm. The Christmas Craft Show will include local artisans, craft vendors, food and beverages.  Door prizes every 30 minutes.  Admission & Parking are FREE. Green Grove Gardens is located at 1032 Buchanan Trail East, Greencastle, PA.

Fourth Annual Craft & Vendor Show at Otterbein United Methodist Church, 15634 Paxton Run Road, Newburg will be held Saturday, November 7th 8 am – 2 pm. Arts & Craft Vendors, Food Stand, Smith’s BBQ Chicken.

 

Christmas Events

Santa’s Arrival Event at The Valley Mall Center Court will take place November 7th at 9:30am.  Get your photo taken with Santa and enjoy a capella entertainment courtesy of New Song Entertainment.

Santa’s arriving at the Capital City Mall this Saturday, November 7 at 11 am.  Visit Santa at his wintry mountain lodge complete with a whimsical tree and a “picture perfect” photo backdrop.

Michaels has a Kids Club every Saturday from 10 am – Noon for ages 3 and up. For $2 your child can make a seasonal craft for 30 minutes while you shop! Sign up at Classes & Events at Michaels Stores. November 7:  Wish List Ornament

The Trains of Christmas at Hagerstown Roundhouse Museum will open Friday, November 6, 2015 to February 14, 2016. Fridays, Saturdays, & Sundays 1 – 5 pm. The Trains of Christmas Show features an “O” Scale 3-Rail Christmas layout with steam and diesel trains by Lionel, MTH, Williams, Weaver, and other operating in snow scene on four levels. Railroad artifacts, photos, trains for kids to run, and a gift shop too! Admission: $5 Adults; $.50 Kids (ages 12 & under).

Whitaker Center’s Holiday Trains & Trees exhibit opens Nov. 7.  Beautifully decorated trees, surrounded by themed toy train sets and hands-on activities.  Holiday Trains and Trees is included with standard Science Center admission. The Holiday Film Series at the Whitaker Center also begins this weekend with A Christmas Story November 6 – 8. Whitaker Center for Science and the Arts is located at 222 Market Street, Harrisburg.
