Shippensburg

Relay For Life of Shippensburg will be held Saturday June 11th- 12th beginning at 10 AM at Shippensburg Area High School.  The event is an overnight community fundraising walk with teams of people camping out around a track.  Food, games and activities provide entertainment and build camaraderie.

The 2nd Annual Shippensburg Sonlight Praise Fest will held Saturday, June 11 at Shippensburg Township Park, 304 Britton Rd.  Enjoy a day of Praise and Worship (live music) from 9 AM – 5 PM.  Admission: 2 cans food for Kings Kettle.  Bring a lawn chair.  Benefits Christ Among Neighbors, Kings Kettle and the Harbor. Community Patriotic choir and band led by Dan Reed; Frances Drost, Leslie McKee, The Cumberland Valley Quartet will be performing.  Kids activities/Face Painting.  Food available for purchase including Smiths BBQ Chicken, pretzels, cotton candy.

The first pull at Shippensburg Fairgrounds is Saturday, June 11th at 7PM. Admission $10,  Children $5 (under 12).  Classic Modified Tractors, Modified Tractors, 4×4 Street Diesel Trucks, Modified Small Block 4×4 Trucks, Light Limited Turbo Tractors, 2.5 Diesel 4×4 Trucks.

Christ United Methodist Church’s garden tour is set to take place from 1 to 6 PM Sunday, June 12, in the greater Shippensburg area.  Six gardens will be featured in this year’s tour – 8750 Roxbury Road (next to Lurgan Elementary School), 217 Means Hollow Road, 133 Park Place West, 139 Park Place West, 10165 Muddy Run Road in Orrstown, and 179 Stony Point Ave.  Free refreshments will be given to tour-goers and the church will also hold a plant sale the day of the tour.  Tickets can be purchased at Crider Meats between Thursday and Saturday, East Meet West Emporium, the church (47 E. King St.), and at each garden and the church the day of the tour.

Beyond Shippensburg

The third Saturday of the 2016 Marion Festivals is June 11th.  Free Entertainment with 3 Shows each night (6:15 PM; 7:30 PM; 9 PM).  Food Games, Rides.  Kitchen opens at 4:30 PM.  Free parking.

The 12th annual Dickinson College U-Turn & Community Yard Sale will be held from 7:30 AM to 1 PM on Saturday, June 11th at Carlisle Fairgrounds, K Street entrance, inside building T.  The college sale features donated items by departing Dickinson College students.  Admission is free beginning at 8:30 AM, but early birds can pay $5 to enter at 7:30 AM.

The Chambersburg Ballet Theatre will perform Cinderella on June 11 at 2 PM and 6:30 PM at the Capitol Theatre.  Tickets can be purchased at the Capitol Theatre Box Office or onlineTicket Prices:  Adults- $13; Students 6 – College (With ID)- $10.  Child 5 & Under: FREE (All children must have a ticket)  Two dollar service fee applies online.  The Capitol Theatre is located at 159 S. Main Street, Chambersburg.

Lowe’s Build & Grow is having their next event on Saturday, June 11 at 10 AM.  Kids are invited to go to their local Lowe’s to build their very own Captain America.  You must register your child HERE (most locations fill up fast).

26th annual Strawberry Festival (Market St & Courthouse Lawn, McConnellsburg) is scheduled for Friday, June 10th 10 AM – 9 PM & Saturday, June 11 10 AM – 8 PM.  Friday evening entertainment will be South Mountain Breed. Saturday evening entertainment will be Rumors.  Talent show Saturday beginning at noon. Vendors, Food, Children’s activities.

The Hagerstown Regional Airport will have a Fly-in, Drive-in Breakfast on June 11 at the Hagerstown Regional Airport. There will be Young Eagle plane rides, free to ages 8-17, weather permitting, 9:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.  FREE Young Eagle Rides, First Come, First Flown will be held weather permitting.  All you can eat Breakfast, 8:00 – 11:30 a.m.; Pancakes, Scrambled Eggs, Sausage, Toast, Coffee, Orange Juice.  The price is Adults $7, Children 6-12 $4, Under 6 free.   Lunch 11:00 am to 1:00 p.m. Hot dogs, Hamburgers, French Fries: A la carte! Free parking for at the main terminal, Aircraft parking on apron next to Firehouse.  You can learn more about the Young Eagles program by going online to youngeagles.org.

This Saturday, June 11th at Chambers Fort Park in Downtown Chambersburg enjoy FREE live music and a family friendly movie, Inside Out – PG (2015).  Movie begins at dusk (sunset is 8:30pm) just after music from The Hello Strangers and Soleil.

Ongoing Events

Cumberland Drive-In Theatre, 3290 Ritner Highway, Newville, is open Friday – Sunday.  Gates open at 7 p.m. First feature begins at approximately 8:55 PM. First Feature:  Angry Birds Second Feature:  Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows  $8 Adults;  $4 Children 3-12; FREE for Children Under 3.

North Square Farmers Market, 50 N. Main Street, Chambersburg continues Saturday from 8 AM to NoonFree parking at the Courthouse.  Over twenty local vendors will offer local produce as well as cheeses, breads, fresh-cut flowers, baked goods, handmade soaps, & MORE. Children ages 3 -12 can sign up for POP (Power of Produce) Club.  Members receive $2 in tokens per market visit to be used on produce or vegetable plants! Membership in POP Club is free. 

On Saturday, June 11th the free miniature train rides continue at Norlo Park, 3050 Lincoln Way East, Fayetteville.  It is open to riders of all ages. The train, complete with a cattle car and caboose, is FREE to ride on Saturdays from 1 PM to 4 PM throughout Summer & Fall!  Last Train boards at 3:50 pm.  Donations are accepted.
