Here’s a list of opportunities to get out and about this weekend!

SHIPPENSBURG

Southampton Township, Cumberland County Park and Recreation is hosting a Fall Fling on October 7 from 11AM – 5PM.  Bounce Houses, Wagon Rides, Games, Food Vendors, Pony Rides, Pumpkin Painting, Live Music, Face Painting, and more.  The event is held at Cleversburg Community Center, 56 Cleversburg Rd.

Grace B. Luhrs University Elementary School is hosting its annual Fall Festival Saturday, October 7 from 4PM-7PM. The family-friendly event features games, crafts, face painting, fire trucks, bake sale treats, food, bike rally, DJ and Chili Cook-off. $5/activity band or $15 family. Everyone is welcome!

Terry Fator will perform at the Luhrs Center on October 7 at 8PM.  He won Season 2 of America’s Got Talent with his unique brand of entertainment that combines singing, comedy and celebrity impressions.

NEWVILLE/CARLISLE

Carlisle Ocktoberfest at the Army Heritage and Education Center includes carnival rides all four days, contests, a Volksmarch on Saturday morning, and arts and crafts. There will be a wide selection of adult and kiddie rides, carnival foods, free standing games & game trailers. Thursday: 4-9PM, Friday: 4-9PM, Saturday: 11AM – 9PM, Sunday: 11AM – 7PM.

The Salvation Army’s 16th annual Women’s Auxiliary fabric sale will be held in the chapel of The Salvation Army, Carlisle on Oct. 6th from 8AM – 2PM and Oct. 7th from 9AM – Noon. Most fabric will be sold at $1 a yard. Other materials for sale include yarn, thread, ribbon, lace, sewing and embroidery machines, and other craft supplies. A book sale will also accompany the fabric sale in the parking lot.  Cash only.

East Pennsboro Township hosts a two day Pumpkin Fest featuring crafts, food, games, contests and entertainment.  The event is held in Adams-Ricci Park on Saturday October 7 from 9:30AM to 5PM and Sunday October 8 from 11AM to 5PM.

CHAMBERSBURG

Ur Sweet Repeats Children’s & Maternity Consignment Sale Fall/Winter Event Oct 5th-7th at the Amvets Pavilion in Chambersburg.  Shop over 30,000 gently used & new items at a fraction of retail cost.

Celebrate Oktoberfest in downtown Chambersburg on October 7 with live music, beer, hard cider, German food and games. The event includes main festivities under the big tent on the corner of Hood and W. King Streets, as well as the Duck Derby, Harmon 5k and more.

Rubber Ducks will “swim” down the Falling Spring Creek on Oct. 7 and race to the finish line near the bridge at Chambers’ Fort Park. Winning Ducks will receive cash prizes. Ducks are $5 each or $25 for a Quack Pack of 6. Derby Start: 2:30 PM at Park of the Valiant, N. Second St., Chambersburg. Derby Finish: Chambers Fort Park, N. Main St., Chambersburg.

Pinkalicious, The Musical is coming to The Capitol Theatre in downtown Chambersburg on Saturday, October 7 at 3PM.  After the show in the WoodCenter will be a Pink After Party (enjoy Pink Eats & Treats and a special appearance by Pink & Peter).  Tickets sold separately.

GREENCASTLE

Franklin County Library System Annual Book Sale will being held at Lilian S Besore Library in Greencastle.  October 5-6 9AM-8PM; October 7-8 10AM-5PM; Sunday, October 8 Bag Day $5.  Credit cards accepted.  Baked goods also available.

MERCERSBURG

Stoner’s Dairy Farm and Corn Maze offers plenty of weekend Fall activities.  They are hosting a special event on Oct. 7 with added fun for $6 per person.  Attractions include Corn Maze, Mini Maze, Hayrides, Petting Zoo, Pedal Cart Track, Play Area, Giant Inflatable, Wagon-Driven Farm Tours, Pumpkin Contest, Adult Eating Contest, and Prizes & Giveaways.

Snider’s Elevator Annual Fun Fall Festival is Saturday, October 7th.  Free pancake breakfast, snacks, and drinks.  10% off storewide.  Door prizes, petting zoo, fun dog show, pony rides, and more.

WAYNESBORO

Market Day on Oct. 7 features all-day entertainment, including live music, dancing demonstrations, sidewalk sales, Mad Anthony’s Chili-Cookoff, children’s activities and dozens of craft, specialty and food vendors. Entries in the annual Scarecrow Contest are displayed along Main Street lamp posts. The event takes place 9AM – 4PM on Main Street in Waynesboro.

Renfrew’s Second Annual Oktoberfest will be on October 7 at the Post 15 American Legion, 63 East Main Street from 4PM- 9Pm.  Admission is $50 per person.  All attendees must be 21 years of age or older.  Admission to the event includes a buffet of traditional German foods and a Daniel Royer craft beer brewed specially for this event. The event will start at 4PM with the beer arriving on a horse-drawn wagon.

GETTYSBURG

The National Apple Harvest Festival will be held on October 7 & 8 and October 14 & 15, 2017.  The festival features 300 arts and crafts vendors, demonstrations, contests, food stands, and entertainment.  The National Apple Harvest Festival is located at the South Mountain Fairgrounds & is held outdoors rain or shine.  Ticket Info:  General Admission is $10; Sr. Citizens, Veterans, Military $9;  Children under 12 Free.  The festival is open from 8AM to 6PM daily, rain or shine! 

Ongoing Fall Events

CHAMBERSBURG:  Country Creek Produce Farm is home to The Oregon Trail corn maze and more family friendly Fall fun.  The farm’s attractions include the corn maze, jump pad, peddle track, quad mountain slides, u-pick pumpkins, hayrides, animals, pumpkin cannon, and more.

MERCERSBURG:  Stoner’s Dairy Farm and Corn Maze offers weekend Fall activities.  Normal weekend offerings include sea themed corn maze, hayride, petting zoo, pedal carts, corn cannon, scarecrow factory, food and more.  Friday night (Oct. 6) is a Flashlight Night – $6 per person –  from 7PM – 10PM.

NEWVILLE: Cross the Creek Farm offers Pick-Your-Own-Pumpkins priced by the size, not by pound.

CARLISLE:  Warehime’s Pumpkin Patch has a large selection of pumpkins to purchase and also multi-colored sunflowers to pick.

MECHANICSBURG:  Fall Harvest Days at Ashcombe Farm & Greenhouses continue this weekend.  Pick your own pumpkins, horse drawn hayrides, play area and more at 906 W. Grantham Road.

DILLSBURG:  At Paulus Orchards you can celebrate fall harvest season on a farm.  On Saturdays 9AM-6:30PM & Sundays 11AM-5PM, enjoy the 5 acre Corn Maze, Play Land, Wagon Ride around the orchard, pick-your-own apples, and enjoy the Pumpkin Patch.  All day Weekend Farm Admission $9 (ages 3 and up). Seniors $5 (age 65+). Children 2 and under are free.

MANHEIM:  The Pennsylvania Renaissance Faire is held on the grounds of the Mount Hope Estate.  With over 90 stage shows daily, 22 Royal Kitchens and scores of artisan merchants with handcrafted wares, the Renaissance Faire invites guests to immerse themselves in the 35-acre village and experience the fantasy.  Each weekend will showcase a unique theme.  This weekend’s theme:  October 7 & 8 Autumn Harvest.
