Here’s a list of opportunities to get out and about this weekend!

Shippensburg

Family fun day in the park!  P.A.P.’s Day in the park will be held Saturday June 2, 10AM – 4PM at Shippensburg Memorial Park. There will be activities for the kids, BBQ chicken dinners, concession stand, vendors, raffle baskets, and a car show cruise in.

Furry Fun Days is a two-day doggie carnival held June 2 & 3 from 9AM to 4PM. The event features human and canine games, food, vendors, dock dogs, lure coursing and flyball.  Agility, Paw Parade, and Blessing of the Dogs are Sunday only. $5 per car requested donation.  Read more HERE.

Beyond Shippensburg

St Thomas:  Mount Parnell Lions host their Annual Ox Roast June 1 & 2.  Serving from 12 Noon Daily.  Ground and sliced beef sandwiches, homemade soups, french fries, milkshakes, ice cream, and cakes. Entertainment (6PM) will be Make Mine Country on Friday night and Brush Fire on Saturday night.  Bounce Houses for the kids. All funds will be distributed to Lions Charity and community needs.

Newville:  The Newville First Church of God is hosting its annual Newville Rural Festival on Saturday, June 2, 9AM – 3PM. Free Admission and Free Parking.  The festival features over 50 craftsmen/exhibitors with antique tractors, classic & antique cars, motorcycles, hit & miss engines, spinning wheels, and more! Food. Live musical ministry all day. Children’s Garden activities, Carnival games, Barrel train ride, Tillie the Clown and more!  This event will be held rain or shine.

Marion:  The first Saturday of the 2018 Marion Festivals is June 2.  Free Entertainment “Silver Eagle Band” with 3 Shows each night (6:15PM; 7:30PM; 9PM).  Food, Games, Rides.  Kitchen opens at 4:30PM.  Free parking.

Chambersburg:  Chefs Walk is June 2, from 4-7PM along Alexander Avenue in Chambersburg.  Chefs Walk is a food and music crawl with local chefs, beer and wine tastings, a silent auction, and over 50 local musicians performing along Alexander Ave. Tickets are $60 and can be purchased at the event. All proceeds benefit the Cumberland Valley School of Music, a local nonprofit organization.

Chambersburg:  Join Country Creek Produce Farm for U pick Strawberry Fest on June 2, 8AM – 5PM.  This Saturday after picking have fun on the jump pad bounce inflatable for FREE and enjoy homemade ice cream from Windy Knoll Creamery (available for purchase).  Please park along Social Island Rd, Chambersburg (about 1 mile off Rt 11 on right – watch for signs).  U pick price – $2.69/lb.  Baskets available for purchase $1.50 or bring your own.

McConnellsburg:  Lewis & Clark Family Circus is coming Sunday, June 3 at 4PM & 6:30PM.  Ninety minutes of circus fun at Fulton County Fairgrounds for the whole family!

Carlisle:  The entire family will enjoy an all-Ford event at the Carlisle Fairgrounds this weekend, June 1 – 3.   In addition, Carlisle Events and the Downtown Carlisle Association present the annual Ford Parade and Downtown Street Party on Saturday, June 2, 7PM. In addition to the parade, spectators will enjoy specialty vehicles, a wide variety of food, and live entertainment.

Carlisle:  Penn State Master Gardeners in Cumberland County are hosting Family Garden Day on June 2 from 10AM to 1PM at the Cumberland County Extension office. “All Creatures Great and Small” is the theme of this year’s family-friendly event.

Boiling Springs:  The Foundry Day Crafts Festival is an annual juried arts and crafts festival held the first Saturday of June in Boiling Springs and features the original works of 100 fine artists and craftsmen.  Event also includes music, entertainment, food and more.  Admission is free.  Rain or shine.  Free parking and shuttles from the Boiling Springs high school parking lot.

Hagerstown:  EAA Chapter 36 is hosting a Fly-in, Drive-in Breakfast on June 2, 8AM – 1PM located at Hagerstown Regional Airport Firehouse next to main terminal. Free “Young Eagle” airplane rides for kids ages 8-17, 9AM – Noon.  Hagerstown Aviation Museum will be on hand to show off their Fairchild C-82 and C-119 cargo planes.  All you can eat pancake breakfast, 8AM – 11AM (Adults $7, Children 6-12 $4, Under 6 FREE).  Lunch 11AM to 1PM.

Ongoing Weekend Events

The Kids Bowl FREE Summer Bowling Program is available in South Central PA. Each participating location has Program Days to receive FREE Games of Bowling All Summer long!  Each bowling alley has its own start and finish dates and age restrictions.  Read more HERE.

North Square Farmers Market is open every Saturday morning, 8AM to Noon, from May 26 to October 20, 2018. The market is located at 50 North Main Street, near King Street Church.  Rain or shine.

The Chambersburg Aquatic Center is now open.  Single-day admission rates to the new facility will be $5 for borough residents and $9 for non-residents. Children under 3 yrs of age are free. Normal pool hours for daily admittance is 1PM – 8PM (season members can enter at noon – one hour earlier than the public).

The miniature train at Norlo Park will be up and running on Saturdays throughout Summer.  The miniature train, complete with a cattle car and caboose, is free to ride on Saturdays from 1PM to 4PM.  It is open to riders of all ages.  Donations are accepted.

Free concerts at Chambersburg Memorial Park Kiwanis Band Shell continue all Summer long. View the dates HERE.  Sunday June 3, 7PM is The Millers (Southern Gospel).

Showing Friday through Sunday, June 1 – 3 at Cumberland Drive-In is Solo: A Star Wars Story and Life of the Party.  Gates open at 7PM. First feature begins at approximately 8:55PM.

Tractor Supply holds affordable preventive vet clinics inside their stores for your dog, cat, puppy or kitten every Saturday at the Chambersburg & Shippensburg locations.  Times are 10AM – 11:30AM at the Chambersburg store, 1733 Lincoln Way East or 1PM – 2:30PM at the Shippensburg store, 40 Shippensburg Shopping Center.
